Neuropathic pain is chronic pain generated by disorders of the peripheral and central nervous system, including skull base tumours. A skull base tumour can be any type of tumour that forms in the skull base, and this includes vestibular schwannomas which arise from the sheath of the inner ear vestibulocochlear nerve(eighth cranial nerve). Growth of the tumour, surgical resection, and/or stereotactic radiotherapy may result incompression and/or irritation of the fifth cranial nerve(trigeminal nerve) resulting in facial pain and/or numbness. Non-trigeminal afferent input may contribute to the wide constellation of symptoms seen in orofacial pain patients. The purpose of this report was to develop a decision tool to guide the recognition and treatment of neuropathic pain in this specialized population. Recommendations for treatment are based on evidence presented in Canadian and international neuropathic treatment guidelines. Algorithms are included for assessment and treatment of adult patients with agents that are recognized to have analgesic efficacy within the broad context of neuropathic pain.

Intense laser fields focused into ambient air can be used to generate high-bandwidth current densities in the form of plasma channels and *** with bichromatic fields enables us to adjust the amplitude and sign of these currents using the relative phase between the two light ***-color filamentation in gas targets provides a route to scaling the energy of terahertz pulses to microjoule levels by driving the plasma channel with a high-energy laser ***,the structure of plasma channels is highly susceptible to drifts in both the relative phase and other laser parameters,making control over the waveform of the radiated terahertz fields *** establish a clear link between the phase dependence of plasma currents and terahertz radiation by comparing in situ detection of current densities and far-field detection of terahertz electric *** show that the current measurement can be used as a feedback parameter for stabilizing the terahertz *** approach provides a route to energetic terahertz pulses with exceptional waveform stability.

Diminishing surface defect states in perovskite nancx^rystals is a highly challenging subject for enhancing optoelectronic device *** synthesized organic/inorganic lead-halide perovskite MApbbr3(MA=methylammonium)clusters comprising nanocrystals with diameters ranging between 20 and 30 nm and characterized an enhanced photoluminescence(pL)quantum yield(as much as^7 times)by encapsulating the MApbbr3 with graphene(Gr).The optical properties of MApbbr3 and Gr/MApbbr3 were investigated by temperature-dependent micro-pL and time-resolved pL *** functional theory calculations show that the surface defect states in MApbbr3 are removed and the optical band gap is reduced by a 0.15 eV by encapsulation with graphene due to partial restoration of lattice distortions.

Insufficient dietary intake of micronutHents, known as ＂hidden hunger＂, is a devastating global burden, affecting two billion people. Deficiency of folates （vitamin b9）, which are known to play a central role in Cl metabolism, causes birth defects in at least a quarter million people annually. biofortification to enhance the level of naturally occurring folates in crop plants, proves to be an efficient and cost-effective tool in fighting folate deficiency. previously, introduction of folate biosynthesis genes GTpCHI andADCS, proven to be a successful biofortification strategy in rice and tomato, turned out to be insufficient to adequately increase folate levels in potato tubers. Here, we provide a proof of concept that additional introduction of HppK/DHpS and/or FpGS, downstream genes in mitochonddal folate biosynthesis, enables augmenta- tion of folates to satisfactory levels （12-fold） and ensures folate stability upon long-term storage of tubers. In conclusion, this engineering strategy can serve as a model in the creation of folate-accumulating potato cultivars, readily applicable in potato-consuming populations suffedng from folate deficiency.

In this paper, the effect of neuronal gain in discrete delayed neural network model is investigated. It is observed that such neural networks become highly chaotic due to the presence of high neuronal gain. On the basis of the largest Lyapunov exponent and largest eigenvalue of Jacobian matrix, chaos analysis has been done. Finally, some numerical simulations are presented to justify our results.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disorder affecting the central nervous system (CNS) through demyelination and neurodegeneration. Several lines of evidence support a role for oxidative and nitrative stress (OS and NS) in pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis. The mechanism of influence of OS and NS on blood-brainbarrier (bbb) has critical importance for evaluating antioxidant therapies. As far as we know, markers of oxidative and nitrative stress in MS patients have been investigated independently for their relationship with the state of the blood-brain-barrier. blood plasma samples of 58 patients with relapse-remitting MS (RRMS) with normal (Group A, n = 48, 36.2 ± 10.5 years) and damaged bbb (Group b, n = 10, 38.2 ± 11.2 years) and of 44 healthy controls (39.2 ± 14.9 years) were analyzed. TAS (total antioxidant plasma status), lipoperoxides, protein carbonyls, 3-nitrotyrosine and uric acid were evaluated in each group. Our results confirmed decreased TAS (Group A: 1.35 ± 0.55 mmol/l, p e level of lipoperoxidation positively correlated with the state of bbb (p of protein’s carbonyls (A: 0.48 ± 0.11 nmol/mg protein, p nmol/l, p ed damage to plasma proteins, what was confirmed by their positive mutual correlation (p The level of uric acid was physiological and correlated negatively with protein’s carbonyls (p 0.05) while there was no significant relationship with 3-nitotyrosine. The results suggest the role of this antioxidant in the protection of the proteins against OS what was confirmed by its positive correlation with TAS
