Aluminium alloy AA2219 is a high strength alloy belonging to 2000 series. It has been widely used for aerospace applications, especially for construction of cryogenic fuel tank. However, arc welding of AA2219 material is very critical. The major problems that arise in arc welding of AA2219 are the adverse development of residual stresses and the re-distribution as well as dissolution of copper rich phase in the weld *** effects increase with increase in heat input. Thus, special attention was taken to especially thick section welding of AA2219-T87 aluminium alloy. Hence, the present work describes the 25 mm-thick AA2219-T87 aluminium alloy plate butt welded by GTAW and GMAW processes using multi-pass welding procedure in double V groove design. The transverse shrinkage, conventional mechanical and metallurgical properties of both the locations on weld joints were studied. It is observed that the fair copper rich cellular(CRC) network is on Side-A of both the weldments. Further, it is noticed that, the severity of weld thermal cycle near to the fusion line of HAZ is reduced due to low heat input in GTAW process which results in non dissolution of copper rich phase. Based on the mechanical and metallurgical properties it is inferred that GTAW process is used to improve the aforementioned characteristics of weld joints in comparison to GMAW process.

High throughput phenotyping is important to bridge the gap between genotype and *** methods used to describe the phenotype therefore should be robust to measurement errors,relatively stable over time,and most importantly,provide a reliable estimate of elementary phenotypic *** this study,we use functional-structural modeling to evaluate quantitative phenotypic metrics used to describe root architecture to determine how they fit these *** results show that phenes such as root number,root diameter,and lateral root branching density are stable,reliable measures and are not affected by imaging method or *** aggregating multiple phenes such as total length,total volume,convex hull volume,and bushiness index estimate different subsets of the constituent phenes;they however do not provide any information regarding the underlying phene *** of phene aggregates are not unique representations of underlying constituent phenes:multiple phenotypes having phenes in different states could have similar aggregate *** growth angle is an important phene which is susceptible to measurement errors when 2D projection methods are *** that aggregate phenes which are complex functions of root growth angle and other phenes are also subject to measurement errors when 2D projection methods are *** results support the hypothesis that estimates of phenes are more useful than metrics aggregating multiple phenes for phenotyping root *** propose that these concepts are broadly applicable in phenotyping and phenomics.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women with approximately 25-40%of these cases eventually develop metastases;the majority of which will be multi-site and include the liver(BCLM)exclusively in approximately 5%of patients with metastatic disease(1).The management and treatment of BCLM requires a multi-disciplinary approach with the current standard approach“with or without extrahepatic disease”being systemic chemotherapy and/or hormonal therapy,depending on tumour hormone receptor status(2).This is associated with a median survival time of 14.3 months(95%CI:13.5-15.5 months)(3).Loco-regional treatment to BCLM has not been accepted as treatment strategy despite encouraging results from multiple case series.

The usage of open communication infrastructure for transmitting the control signals in the Load Frequency Control (LFC) scheme of power system introduces time delays. These time delays may degrade the dynamic performance of the power system. This paper proposes a robust method to design a controller for multi-area LFC schemes considering communication delays. In existing literature, the controller values of LFC are designed using time domain approach which is less accurate than the proposed method. In proposed method, the controller values are determined by moving the rightmosteigenvalues of the system to the left half plane in a quasi-continuous way for a preset upper bound of time delay. Then the robustness of the proposed controller is assessed by estimating the maximumtolerable value of time delay for maintaining system stability. Simulation studies are carried out for multi-area LFC scheme equipped with the proposed controller using Matlab/simulink. From the results, it has been concluded that the proposed controller guarantees the tolerance for all time delays smaller than the preset upper bound and provides a bigger delay margin than the existing controllers.

The rapid and label-free diagnosis of malignancies in ex vivo breast biopsy tissues has significant utility in pathology laboratories and operating *** report a MEMS-based platform integrated with microchips that performs phenotyping of breast biopsy tissues using electrothermal *** microchip,fabricated on a silicon substrate,incorporates a platinum microheater,interdigitated electrodes(IDEs),and resistance temperature detectors(RTDs)as on-chip sensing *** microchips are integrated onto the platform using a slide-fit contact enabling quick replacement for biological *** bulk resistivity(ρB),surface resistivity(ρS),and thermal conductivity(k)of deparaffinized and formalin-fixed paired tumor and adjacent normal breast biopsy samples from N=8 patients were *** formalin-fixed samples,the meanρB for tumors showed a statistically significant fold change of 4.42(p=0.014)when the tissue was heated from 25°C to 37°C compared to the adjacent normal tissue,which showed a fold change of *** meanρS measurements also showed a similar *** mean k of the formalinfixed tumor tissues was 0.309±0.02Wm^(-1)K^(-1)compared to a significantly higher k of 0.563±0.028 Wm^(-1)K^(-1)for the adjacent normal tissues.A similar trend was observed inρB,ρS,and k for the deparaffinized tissue *** analysis of a combination ofρ_(B,)ρ_(S,)and k using Fisher’s combined probability test and linear regression suggests the advantage of using all three parameters simultaneously for distinguishing tumors from adjacent normal tissues with higher statistical significance.

Background:Both hypertension and grip strength(GS)are predictors of mortality and cardiovascular disease(CVD),but whether these risk factors interact to affect CVD and all-cause mortality is *** study sought to investigate the associations of GS with the risk of major CVD incidence,CVD mortality,and all-cause mortality in patients with ***:GS was measured using a Jamar dynamometer(Sammons preston,Bolingbrook,IL,USA)in participants aged 3570 years from 12 provinces included in the prospective Urban Rural Epidemiology China *** frailty proportional hazards models were used to examine the associations of GS and hypertension and the outcomes of all-cause mortality and CVD incidence/***:Among 39,862 participants included in this study,15,964 reported having hypertension,and 9095 had high GS at *** a median follow-up of 8.9 years(interquartile range,6.79.9 years),1822 participants developed major CVD,and 1250 deaths occurred(388 as a result of CVD).Compared with normotensive participants with high GS,hypertensive patients with high GS had a higher risk of major CVD incidence(hazard ratio(HR)=2.39;95%confidence interval(95%CI):1.863.06;ppp=0.159).These risks were further increased if hypertensive participants whose GS level was low(major CVD incidence,HR=3.31,95%CI:2.604.22,ppppresent study demonstrates that low GS is associated with the highest risk of major CVD incidence,CVD mortality,and all-cause mortality among hypertensive *** levels of GS appear to mitigate long-term mortality risk among hypertensive patients.
