Carcinosarcoma(CS),also known as metaplastic breast carcinoma with mesenchymal differentiation,is one of the five distinct subtypes of metaplastic breast *** is considered as a mixed,biphasic neoplasm consisting of a carcinomatous component combined with a malignant nonepithelial element of mesenchymal origin without an intermediate transition *** cellular origin of this neoplasm remains controversial,most researchers declare that neoplastic cells derive from a cellular structure with potential biphasic *** recent research on the therapeutic strategies against CS neoplastic disorders,surgical resection appears the only potentially curative *** CS metastasize by the lymphatic route,axillary assessment with sentinel lymph node biopsy and/or axillary lymph node dissection is always ***,the tumor also presents a hematogenous metastatic pattern including pleural,pulmonary,liver,brain and less commonly bone ***,surgical removal of breast CS does not necessarily ensure patient’s long-term ***,alternative therapies,such as radio-and chemotherapy proved insufficient and 5-year survival rate is ***,there is evidence that following surgery,the combination of radio and chemotherapy is associated with a better prognosis than either treatment *** aim of this review is to evaluate the results of surgical treatment for breast CS with special reference to the extent of its histological *** features,histogenesis,morphological and immunochemical findings are discussed,while the role of current diagnostic and therapeutic management of this aggressive neoplasm is emphasized.

Jeffery Nicholas differentiates between objective reason as a practice of evaluation that provides justification and critique and subjective rationality as a subspecies of reason limited to means-ends forms of reasoning. He believes that modem crisis is a crisis of reason due to the dominant form of reason in modernity, i.e., subjective rationality. Nicholas aspires to develop a substantive form of reason to base a critical theory of society aimed at human emancipation in the spirit of the Frankfurt School. The most interesting part of this effort is that although Nicholas thinks that Habermas＇s theory of procedural and situated communicative rationality is an initial step towards a substantive conception of reason, he recognizes the limitations of formalism in this conception and argues that the requisite terms provides Maclntyre＇s theory of tradition-constituted and tradition-constitutive reason. The mediating figure in this project is Charles Taylor, whose critique, first, is used against Habermas and, then, his Gadamerian idea of the ＂fusion of horizons＂ is adopted in order to expand Maclntyre＇s theory.

Background:Leprosy can be cured,but physical disability(pD)as a result of the infection can progress in the postrelease from treatment *** study evaluated the likelihood of,and factors associated with,the progression of the pD grade post-release from treatment among leprosy patients treated in Cáceres-MT,Brazil in the period 2000 to ***:A retrospective cohort study and survival analysis were performed in the hyperendemic municipality of Cáceres in the state of Mato *** study population consisted of newly diagnosed leprosy patients released from treatment between January 1,2000 and December 31,*** main outcome was the progression of the pD grade with regard to probability and time;and the evaluated covariates included clinical,operational and demographic *** Cox proportional risk model was used to estimate the risk ratio(Hazard Ratios)of the *** an univariate and a multivariate analysis were implemented,with 95%confidence ***:The mean time for progression of the pD grade was 162 months for pB and 151 months for MB leprosy *** survival curve showed that 15 years after the release from treatment,the probability of pD grade progression was 35%,with no difference between pB and MB or age *** reactions and registered medical complaints of any kind during treatment were identified as risk factors with Hazard Ratios of 1.6 and 1.8 ***:people released from treatment as cured of leprosy are susceptible to worsening of the pD,especially those who have had complications during multi-drug therapy *** indicates that leprosy patients should be periodically monitored,even after the successful completion of multidrug therapy.

Nanolarvicidal Effect of Green Synthesized Ag-Co Bimetallic Nanoparticles on <i>Culex quinquefasciatus</i>Mosquito

Synthesis of bimetallic nanoparticles has employed many applications especially as larvicidal agents, these bimetallic nanoparticles therefore need to be produced via a cost-effective and eco-friendly route. Here, green synthesis of Ag-Co hybrid nanoparticles obtained from aqueous root extract of palmyra palm was reported. The hybrid nanoparticles formation was noticed by a colour change from light pink to light brown and further studied using UV-Vis and FT-IR spectrophotometers. The maximum absorption wavelength, λmax as determined by the UV-Visible Spectrophotometer was found to be 420 nm. The FT-IR showed the formation and stabilization of the BMNps. The nanolarvicidal potency was evaluated by the application of varying concentration ranging from 5 to 50 mg/L against first to fourth instars of larvae and recording the percentage mortality after 24 hours. probit analysis showed the LC50 and LC90 for 1st instar to be 5.237 mg/L and 49.240 mg/L, 9.310 mg/L and 94.969 mg/L for 2nd instar, 13.626 mg/L and 105.542 mg/L for 3rd/4th instars respectively. This result therefore suggests that the nanoparticles can be used as potential control for larval population growth.

Evaluation of COVID-19 Cases and Vaccinations in the State of Georgia, United States: A Spatial perspective

This study evaluates the distribution of COVID-19 cases and mass vaccination campaigns from January 2020 to April 2023. There are over 235,000 COVID-19 cases and over 733,000 vaccinations across the 159 counties in the state of Georgia. Data on COVID-19 was acquired from *** while the vaccination records were obtained from COVID-19 vaccination tracker. The spatial patterns across the counties were analyzed using spatial statistical techniques which include both global and local spatial autocorrelation. The study further evaluates the effect of vaccination and selected socio-economic predictors on COVID-19 cases across the study area. The result of hotspot analysis reveals that the epicenters of COVID-19 are distributed across Cobb, Fulton, Gwinnett, and DeKalb counties. It was also affirmed that the vaccination records followed the same pattern as COVID-19 cases’ epicenters. The result of the spatial error model performed well and accounted for a considerable percentage of the regression with an adjusted R squared of 0.68, Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) 387.682 and Breusch-pagan of 9.8091. ESDA was employed to select the main explanatory variables. The selected variables include vaccination, population density, percentage of people that do not have health insurance, black race, Hispanic and these variables accounted for 68% of the number of COVID-19 cases in the state of Georgia during the study period. The study concludes that both COVID-19 cases and vaccinated individuals have spatial peculiarities across counties in Georgia state. Lastly, socio-economic variables and vaccination are very important to reduce the vulnerability of individuals to COVID-19 disease.

Background:Although the new coronavirus(SARS-COV-2)affects predominantly the respiratory system,concomitant liver manifestations are common among COVID-19 ***:To investigate the prevalence and pattern of liver impairment(hepatocellular,cholestatic,mixed)and identify risk factors potentially associated with the liver injury in hospitalized patients with *** and Methods:This retrospective study enrolled consecutive patients with Covid-19 who had evidence of liver injury on admission and/or during hospitalization in a tertiary *** demographic,clinical and laboratory data were captured from the hospital’s electronic data monitoring *** and multivariate logistic regression analysis were applied to identify risk factors for liver ***:Overall,of the 113 hospitalized Covid-19 patients,73(64.6%)patients had evidence of liver *** to Intensive Care Unit and length of in-hospital stay were identified as independent risk factors for liver injury by multivariate analysis(p=0.014 and p=0.001,respectively).35 patients(47.9%)had hepatocellular and 18 patients(24.7%)had cholestatic liver *** to Intensive Care Unit was statistically significantly associated with hepatocellular injury(p=0.006).Conclusions:Liver injury is common in hospitalized Covid-19 ***-type injury is more common and is associated with a more severe course of disease.
