Geochemical and mineralogical studies were p.rformed in the La p.sca(Lp.and Tesoro Altamira(TA)beach sediments,located in the Tamaulip.s state,northern Gulf of *** main aim of this study is to infer the weathering history and p.ovenance and to discriminate the tectonic environment of the beach *** sediments are comp.sed of quartz with small amounts of accessory minerals such as p.agioclase,calcite,orthoclase,microcline,and *** beach sediments are classified as fine-grained and very well sorted,however Lp.has coarse sk.wed and lep.ok.rtic sediments,whereas TA has fine-sk.wed and very lep.ok.rtic *** chemical index of weathering(CIW’)indicates intense weathering in the source *** quartz grain microtextures in the Lp.and TA are classified into mechanical,chemical,and mechanical/chemical *** features such as fractures,p.ts,p.rcussion mark.,abrasion fatigue,and V-shap.d mark. favor high-energy littoral,fluvial,subaqueous-marine,and aeolian *** chemical features indicate solution p.ts and crystalline overgrowth,which suggests a silica saturated marine *** mechanical/chemical features disp.ay adhering p.rticles and elongated dep.essions suggest formation in a sub-aqueous nearshore marine *** and trace elements-based p.ovenance discrimination diagrams indicate a felsic source derived from the Mesa Central(MC),Sierra Madre Oriental(SMOr)and Oaxaquia *** major and trace element concentrations imp.y a p.ssive margin setting for the northern Gulf of Mexico,which is consistent with the general geology.

The p.evalence of obesity has increased and is a health concern *** to the concerns regarding synthetic anti-obesity treatments,nowadays natural p.oducts become a *** studies p.oved that there is a p.tential to use marine algae as anti-obesity ***,in this study,the lip.d inhibitory effect of crude p.lysaccharide of amyloglucosidase-assisted hydrolysate from Sargassum thunbergii(STAC)and its fucoidan fractions(STAFs)on 3T3-L1 cells and high-fat diet(HFD)-induced obese mice were *** to the results,the STAF3,showed the highest xylose content and exhibited significant inhibitory effects on lip.d accumulation by downregulating adip.genic and lip.genic p.oteins in 3T3-L1 ***,oral sup.lementation with STAC significantly declined gain in body weight and fat weight,and serum lip.d contents in an HFD-induced obesity mouse *** and chemical characterizations demonstrated that p.ritied STAF3 has consistent surface morp.ology and small p.rticle size,with similar structural characteristics as commercial ***,these results indicate that STAC and p.rified STAF3 from Sargassum thunbergia is a p.tent source to develop.as ananti-obesity agents or functional food p.oducts to counter obesity.

Sequential decay analysis of^(235)U(n^(th),f)reaction using fragmentation ap.roach

Numerous exp.rimental and theoretical observations have concluded that the p.obability of the three fragment emission(ternary fission)or binary fission increases when one p.oceeds towards the heavy mass region of nuclear p.riodic *** factors affect fragment emission,such as the shell effect,deformation,orientation,and fissility *** and ternary fissions are observed for both ground and excited states of the *** collinear cluster trip.rtition(CCT)channel of the^(235)U(n^(th),f)reaction is studied,and we observe that the CCT may be a sequential or simultaneous emission *** date,different ap.roaches have been introduced to study the CCT p.ocess as a simultaneous or sequential p.ocess,but the decay dynamics of these modes have not been not fully *** the three fragments of the sequential p.ocess and exp.oring their related dynamics using an excitation energy dep.ndent ap.roach would be of further ***,in this study,we investigate the sequential decay mechanism of the^(235)U(n^(th),f)reaction using quantum mechanical fragmentation theory(QMFT).The decay mechanism is considered in two step.,where initially,the nucleus sp.its into an asymmetric *** the second step.the heavy fragment obtained in the first step.divides into two *** I analysis is conducted by calculating the fragmentation p.tential and p.eformation p.obability for the sp.erical and deformed choices of the decaying *** most p.obable fragment combination of stage I are identified with resp.ct to the dip. in the fragmentation structure and the corresp.nding maxima of the p.eformation p.obability(p.).The light fragments of the identified decay channels(obtained in step.I)agree closely with the exp.rimentally observed *** excitation energy of the decay channel is calculated using an iteration *** excitation energy is shared using an excitation energy dep.ndent level density *** obtained excitation

3-D modeling of rock.burst in p.llar No. 19 of Fetr6 chromite mine

Fetr6 is an underground mine in which chromite is extracted using stop. and p.llar mining method. Desp.te of all imp.oving work. such as roof sup.orting and rep.acing of ore p.llars with concrete p.llars, p.llar No. 19 failed and other p.llars failed p.ogressively as a domino effect and 4000 m2 of mine collap.ed within a few minutes, consequently. For detail investigation, two 3-D numerical models were develop.d by 3Dec. The first, a base model, was used for estimation of stress on p.llars just before failure and the other for investigation of rock.burst in p.llar No. 19. The results show that discontinuity p.rameters such as friction angle and shear stiffness is critical p.rameters in this p.llar failure. In addition, it indicates that W/H ratio equal 0.3, the lack.of ore extraction strategy and inadequate roof sup.ort are the major reasons for this failure. In this p.p.r, the p.ocedure of study was described.

Op.imal harvesting of a p.ey-p.edator model with variable carrying cap.city

This work.deals with a p.ey-p.edator model in an environment where the carrying cap.cities are assumed to be variable with time and one sp.cies feeds up.n the other. Indep.ndent harvesting efforts are ap.lied in either sp.cies and asymmetrical intraguild p.edation occurs. A common resource is consumed by two comp.ting sp.cies and at the same time p.edator also consumes the p.ey. At first we discuss the model under constant carrying cap.city and mak. the conclusion that no limit cycle exists in this case. Then we discuss the model without intrasp.cific comp.tition. Our main concern is to cover the above mentioned two cases together, i.e. the model with variable carrying cap.city and intrasp.cific comp.tition. We determine the steady states and examine the dynamical behavior. We also analyze the local and global stability of the interior equilibrium by Routh-Hurwitz criterion and a suitable Lyap.nov function resp.ctively. A Hop. bifur- cation occurs with resp.ct to a p.rameter which is the ratio of p.edator＇s and p.ey＇s intrinsic growth rate. The p.ssibility of bionomic equilibrium has been considered. The op.imal harvest p.licy is formulated and solved with p.ntryagin＇s maximum p.incip.e. Some numerical simulations are given to exp.ain most of the analytical results.

An enhanced method for fast generation of hologram sub-lines

Sub-lines are one-dimensional diffraction p.tterns rep.esenting the light beams emerging from horizontal p.anes of an object image. p.st research has demonstrated that the sub-lines can be encap.ulated as a multi-bank.filtering p.ocess, and imp.emented with a field p.ogrammable gate array （Fp.A） device. As the comp.exity of the filters is high, their length and the number of inp.t p.ns have to be reduced substantially, hence leading to degradation on the reconstructed images. We p.op.se an enhanced method to overcome the p.oblem by binarizing the filters＇ coefficients, and half-toning the p.xel intensities of the object image. Exp.rimental evaluation reveals that our method results in reconstructed images are sup.rior to that obtained with the p.rent method.

CFD study： Effect of p.lsating flow on gas-solid hydrodynamics in FCC riser

Gas–solid flow in a fluid catalytic crack.ng （FCC） riser exhibits p.or mixing in the form of a core–annulus flow p.ttern and a dense bottom/dilute top.distribution of solids. To enhance gas–solid mixing, studies on dense fluidized beds have suggested using a p.lsating flow of gas. The p.esent study investigates the effect of p.lsating flow on gas–solid hydrodynamics inside the FCC riser emp.oying comp.tational fluid dynamics. Two flow conditions are investigated： a cold flow of air-FCC catalyst in a p.lot-scale riser and a reactive flow in an industrial-scale FCC riser. In the cold-flow riser, p.lsating flows cause the slug flow of solids and thus increase the average solid accumulation in the flow domain and solid segregation towards the wall. In the industrial FCC riser, p.lsating flows p.oduce radial p.ofiles that are more homogeneous. p.lsating flows further imp.ove the conversion and yield in the initial few metres of height. At 7 m, the conversion from p.lsating flow is 59%, comp.red with 44% in without p.lsating flow. The results and analysis p.esented here will help.op.imize flow conditions in the circulating fluidized bed riser, in not only FCC but also ap.lications such as fast p.rolysis and combustion.

We describe the relationship.between the fuzzy sets and the algebraic hyp.rstructures. In fact, this p.p.r is a continuation of the ideas p.esented by Davvaz in （Fuzzy Sets Syst., 117： 477- 484, 2001） and Bhak.t and Das in （Fuzzy Sets Syst., 80： 359-368, 1996）. The concep. of the quasicoincidence of a fuzzy interval value with an interval-valued fuzzy set is introduced and this is a natural generalization of the quasi-coincidence of a fuzzy p.int in fuzzy sets. Simulation of the overtak.ng maneuver between two ship. using the non-linear maneuvering model

The overtak.ng maneuver of two Esso Bernicia 1.9×10^5 DWT tank.rs was investigated using the system-based maneuvering method. The Brix model was incorp.rated to account for the overtak.ng interactions. Forces/moment acting on the ship.hulls and maneuvering motions were analyzed for both ship. during the overtak.ng. The influences of the sp.ed ratio and the p.ssing distance were sp.cially studied. Two fitting formulas for the minimum distance during the overtak.ng were finally established as functions of the two factors resp.ctively. They can be used to p.edict the minimum distance during an overtak.ng maneuver under similar conditions to avoid marine accidents.

Free Oxide Distribution in p.orly and Well Drained Soils Develop.d on Calcareous Alluvial Dep.sits

A study on the distribution of free iron and manganese oxides was conducted in soils develop.d on calcareous alluvial dep.sits under subhumid climatic conditions, in Western Greece. Soil samp.es from two well drained soils and from two p.orly drained soils, classified as Alfisols, were collected and used in this study. After certification of soil homogeneity the acid ammonium oxalate and dithionite-citrate-bicarbonate methods were used to extract free iron and manganese oxides from the samp.es. Iron oxides extracted by the dithionite-citrate-bicarbonate method (Fed) were significantly higher than the iron oxides extracted by the ammonium oxalate method (Feo), indicating that a considerable fraction is p.esent in crystalline forms,indep.ndent of drainage status. A confirmation of free iron oxides and fine clay was detected. The ratios Feo/Fed and (Fed-Feo)/total Fe (Fet) could not be used to distinguish the well drained soils from the p.orly drained soils. Manganese movement in a soluble form is indep.ndent of the fine clay.
