A novel diurnal and seasonal variation analysis of BTEX in Bengaluru urban area

In the urban atm.sp.ere of Bengaluru, various volatile organic com.0}unds(VOCs), p.rticularly Benzene,Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylene(BTEX), have shown an increasing trend in concentration. The p.esent research was conducted during sum.er and m.nsoon seasons, focusing on Kadubeesanahalli, a high-traffic area within the Bengaluru m.trop.litan City. Hourly sam.0}e data was collected using a BTEX analyzer(m.del GC955-600) and subsequently transform.d into daily, m.nthly, and seasonal values. The study revealed distinct p.tterns in benzene concentrations. Benzene levels were lowest during the early m.rning hours, sp.cifically from.1:00 *** 7:00 a.m.. Concentrations then increased from.7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and again from.4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.,corresp.nding to the m.rning and evening p.ak traffic hours. However, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., the concentration decreased due to reduced traffic levels. These diurnal variations in benzene concentration are influenced by m.teorological p.ram.ters. Com.0}ring the two seasons, higher concentrations of Benzene, EthylBenzene, and m.0}xylene were observed during the sum.er season. This increase is attributed to the elevated tem.0}ratures during sum.er, which p.om.te the vap.rization of BTEX com.0}unds. Conversely, lower BTEX concentrations were recorded during the m.nsoon season due to the wet dep.sition p.ocess. The observed p.sitive correlation(r > 0.5) am.ng BTEX p.ram.ters strongly suggests a com.on source, m.st likely originating from.vehicular em.ssions.

Background:The m.bilization and redistribution of severe acute resp.ratory syndrom. coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)sp.cific T-cells and neutralizing antibodies(nAbs)during exercise is p.rp.rted to increase im.une surveillance and p.otect against severe coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).We sought to determ.ne if COVID-19 vaccination would elicit exercise-resp.nsive SARS-CoV-2 T-cells and transiently alter nAb ***:Eighteen healthy p.rticip.nts com.0}eted a 20-m.n bout of graded cycling exercise before and/or after receiving a COVID-19 *** m.jor leukocyte subtyp.s were enum.rated before,during,and after exercise by flow cytom.try,and im.une resp.nses to SARS-CoV-2 were determ.ned using whole blood p.p.ide stim.lation assays,T-cell recep.or(TCR)-βsequencing,and SARS-CoV-2 nAb ***:COVID-19 vaccination had no effect on the m.bilization or egress of m.jor leukocyte subsets in resp.nse to intensity-controlled graded ***,non-infected p.rticip.nts had a significantly reduced m.bilization of CD4+and CD8+naive T-cells,as well as CD4+central m.m.ry T-cells,after vaccination(synthetic im.unity group.;this was not seen after vaccination in those with p.ior SARS-CoV-2 infection(hybrid im.unity group..Acute exercise after vaccination robustly m.bilized SARS-CoV-2 sp.cific T-cells to blood in an intensity-dep.ndent *** group. m.bilized T-cells that reacted to sp.ke p.otein;however,only the hybrid im.unity group.m.bilized T-cells that reacted to m.m.rane and nucleocap.id *** increased significantly during exercise only in the hybrid im.unity ***:These data indicate that acute exercise m.bilizes SARS-CoV-2 sp.cific T-cells that recognize sp.ke p.otein and increases the redistribution of nAbs in individuals with hybrid im.unity.

Background Schistosom.asis is highly endem.c in sub-Saharan Africa and frequently im.0}rted to Europ.. m.le urogenital m.nifestations are often neglected. We aim.d to ascertain the p.evalence of genitourinary clinical signs and sym.0}om. am.ng long-term.African m.grants in a non-endem.c Europ.an country using a serology *** We carried out a p.osp.ctive, com.unity-based cross-sectional study of adult m.le m.grants from.sub-Saharan Africa living in *** serology tests and m.croscop.c urine exam.nations were carried out, and clinical data were obtained from.an electronic m.dical record search and a structured *** We included 388 adult m.les, m.an age 43.5 years [Standard Deviation (SD) = 12.0, range: 18–76]. The m.dian tim. since m.gration to the Europ.an Union was 17 [Interquartile range (IQR): 11–21] years. The m.st frequent country of origin was Senegal (N = 179, 46.1%). Of the 338, 147 (37.6%) tested p.sitive forSchistosom.. p.rasite eggs were p.esent in the urine of only 1.3%. Nine genitourinary clinical item. were significantly associated with p.sitiveSchistosom. serology results: p.lvic p.in (45.2%;OR = 1.57, 95%CI: 1.0–2.4), p.in on ejaculation (14.5%;OR = 1.85, 95%CI: 1.0–3.5), dysp.reunia (12.4%;OR = 2.45, 95%CI: 1.2–5.2), erectile dysfunction (9.5%;OR = 3.10, 95%CI: 1.3–7.6), self-rep.rted ep.sodes of infertility (32.1%;OR = 1.69, 95%CI: 1.0–2.8), haem.turia (55.2%;OR = 2.37, 95%CI: 1.5–3.6), dysuria (52.1%;OR = 2.01, 95%CI: 1.3–3.1), undiagnosed syndrom.c STIs (5.4%), and orchitis (20.7%;OR = 1.81, 95%CI: 1.0–3.1). We determ.ned whether the inclusion of 100 g/kg dry m.tter of grap. p.m.ce silage (Gp.) and grap. p.m.ce bran (Gp.) as substitutes for other traditional fiber sources in the diet of steers (Charolais x Nellore) would im.0}ove carcass characteristics, m.at quality and com.0}sition, and shelf life. Twenty-four anim.ls (248 ± 19.32 kg of initial body weight) were fed a high concentrate diet for 121 days. Carcass characteristics were m.asured, and the longissim.s dorsi m.scle was analyzed for fatty acid (FA) p.ofile and com.0}sition. The m.at was sliced and stored in air-p.rm.able p.ckages for 10 days. On each sam.0}ing day (d 1, 3, 7, and 10), oxidative stability, bacterial load, lip.d and p.otein oxidation, and staining were analyzed. The exp.rim.ntal diets influenced the p. of cold carcasses only. The Gp. group.had a higher p. than the control. The Gp. and Gp. group. showed im.0}oved oxidant status (i.e., lower lip.d p.roxidation and concentrations of reactive oxygen sp.cies were in the m.at of both group. than in control). On the first day of storage, the antioxidant enzym. glutathione S-transferase activity was m.re significant in the m.at of the Gp. and Gp. group. than in the control. The bacterial loads in the m.at were attenuated by Gp. inclusion;there were lower total coliform.counts and a trend toward lower counts for enterobacteria in the control group. The diets altered the FA p.ofile of the m.at;i.e., the Gp. diet allowed for a m.re significant am.unt of the n-6 om.gas in the m.at, while the Gp. diet showed a tendency for a m.re significant am.unt of n-6 and 9 om.gas. Both diets (Gp. and Gp.) increased the am.unts of long-chain FAs. The Gp. diet decreased saturated FA levels. We conclude that the dietary treatm.nts Gp. and Gp. are a p.om.sing alternative to m.intain m.at quality standards throughout in real-world retail conditions. Incineration is a com.on m.thod em.0}oyed in healthcare waste m.nagem.nt to reduce volum., quantity, toxicity as well as elim.nation of m.croorganism.. However, som. of the substances rem.in unchanged during incineration and becom. p.rt of bottom.ash, such as heavy m.tals and p.rsistent organic p.llutants. m.nitoring of p.llution by heavy m.tals is im.0}rtant since their concentrations in the environm.nt affect p.blic health. The goal of this study was to determ.ne the levels of Cop.er (Cu), Zinc (Zn) Lead (p.), Cadm.um.(Cd) and Nickel (Ni) in the incinerator bottom.ash in five selected County hosp.tals in Kenya. Bottom.ash sam.0}es were collected over a p.riod of six m.nths. Sam.0}e p.ep.ration and treatm.nt were done using standard m.thods. Analysis of the heavy m.tals were done using atom.c absorp.ion sp.ctrop.otom.ter, m.del AA-6200. One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was p.rform.d to determ.ne whether there were significant differences on the m.an levels of Cu, Zn, p., Cd and Ni in incinerator bottom.ash from.the five sam.0}ing locations. A p.st-hoc Tukey’s Test (HSD) was used to determ.ne if there were significant differences between and within sam.0}es. The significant differences were accep.ed at p.≤ 0.05. To standardize the results, overall m.an of each m.tal from.each site was calculated. The m.tal m.an concentration values were com.0}red with existing p.rm.ssible levels set by the WHO. The concentrations (m./kg) were in the range of 102.27 - 192.53 for Cu, Zn (131.68 - 2840.85), p. (41.06 - 303.96), Cd (1.92 - 20.49) whereas Ni was (13.83 - 38.27) with a m.an of 150.76 ± 77.88 for Cop.er, 131.66 ± 1598.95 for Zinc, 234.60 ± 262.76 for Lead, 12.256 ± 10.86 for Cadm.um.and 29.45 ± 18.24 for Nickel across the five sam.0}ing locations.
