External beam radiotherapy(RT)is a leading first-line therapy for prostate cancer(pCa),and,in recent years,significant advances have been ***,RT resistance can arise and result in long-term recurrence or disease progression in the worst-case ***,making crucial the discovery of new targets for pCa ***,we generated a radioresistant pCa cell line,and found p53 to be highly expressed in radioresistant pCa cells,as well as in pCa patients with recurrent/disease progression submitted to *** dissection revealed that RT could promote p53 expression via epigenetic ***,a decrease of H3K27me3 occupancy at Tp53 gene promoter,due to increased KDM6B activity,was observed in radioresistant pCa ***,p53 is essential for efficient DNA damage signaling response and cell recovery upon stress induction by prolonged fractionated ***,KDM6B inhibition by GSK-J4 significantly decreased p53 expression,consequently attenuating the radioresistant phenotype of pCa cells and hampering in vivo 3D tumor ***,this work contributes to improve the understanding of p53 as a mediator of signaling transduction in DNA damage repair,as well as the impact of epigenetic targeting for pCa radiosensitization.

Experimental Thermal performance of Different Capillary Structures for Heat pipes

The temperature control in electronic packaging is the key in numerous applications,to avoid overheating and hardware *** to high capability of heat transfer,good temperature uniformity,and no power consumption,heat pipes can be widely used for heat dissipation of electronic *** paper reports an experimental thermal analysis of different capillary structures for heat *** wicks considered are metal screens,axial microgrooves,and sintered metal *** heat pipes are made of copper,a 200 mm length tube and a 9.45 mm external *** fluid used was distilled *** devices are investigated in three positions:0,90,and 270°to the horizontal under powers of 5 up to 45 *** results show that in horizontal(0°)and with the evaporator under the condenser(270°),the heat pipes showed similar ***,in the reverse condition(the position against the gravity with the evaporator above the condenser,90°),the heat pipe with sintered wick presented the best thermal performance,as it has the lowest thermal resistance and supported a higher *** that,the sintered powder capillary structure demonstrates the most homogeneous thermal behavior for every position,making the most suitable for applications susceptible to diverse inclinations.

BACKGROUND Melatonin(MLT)is a potent antioxidant molecule that is shown to have a beneficial effect in various pathological situations,due to its action against free *** To evaluate the effect of MLT on carbon tetrachloride(CCl_(4))induced liver injury in rats in terms of oxidative stress,reticular stress,and cell *** Twenty male Wistar rats(230-250 g)were divided into four groups:Control rats,rats treated with MLT alone,rats treated with CCl_(4)alone,and rats treated with CCl_(4)plus ***_(4)was administered as follows:Ten doses every 5 d,ten every 4 d,and seven every 3 *** was administered intraperitoneally at a dose of 20 mg/kg from the 10th wk to the end of the experiment(16th wk).RESULTS MLT was able to reduce the release of liver enzymes in the bloodstream and to decrease oxidative stress in CCl_(4)treated rats by decreasing the level of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances and increasing superoxide dismutase activity,with a lower reduction in serum zinc levels,guaranteeing a reduction in liver damage;additionally,it increased the expression of nuclear factor(erythroid-derived 2)-like 2 and decreased the expression of Kelch-like ECH-associated protein *** also decreased the expression of the proteins associated with endoplasmic reticulum stress,i.e.,glucose-regulated protein 78 and activating transcription factor 6,as well as of heat shock factor 1 and heat shock protein *** MLT has a hepatoprotective effect in an experimental model of CCl_(4)-induced liver injury,since it reduces oxidative stress,restores zinc levels,and modulates endoplasmic reticulum stress.

Remaining phosphorus Estimate Through Multiple Regression Analysis

The remaining phosphorus (prem), p concentration that remains in solution after shaking soil with 0.01 mol L-1 CaCl2 containing 60μg mL-1 p, is a very useful index for studies related to the chemistry of variable charge soils. Although the prem determination is a simple procedure, the possibility of estimating accurate values of this index from easily and/or routinely determined soil properties can be very useful for practical purposes. The present research evaluated the prem estimation through multiple regression analysis in which routinely determined soil chemical data, soil clay content and soil pH measured in 1 mol L-1 NaF (pHNaF) figured as prem predictor variables. The prem can be estimated with acceptable accuracy using the above-mentioned approach, and pHNaF not only substitutes for clay content as a predictor variable but also confers more accuracy to the prem estimates.

Litter removal impacts on soil biodiversity and eucalypt plantation development in the seasonal tropics

The little layer of tree plantations provides primary nutrients for uptake,buff ers changes in soil moisture,and provides habitat and substrate to soil epigeic ***,this layer in eucalypt plantations is often removed to reduce fuel load during the fi re season in the Brazilian savanna(Cerrado).Therefore,it is necessary to quantify the eff ects of changes in litter dynamics on the function of these plantations,on key nutrient cycling processes and on epigeic fauna diversity and *** two adjacent stands(one juvenile and one mature),the consequences of two years of litter removal were quantifi ed as monthly litterfall,leaf and fi ne wood litter decomposition,epigeic fauna abundance and diversity,soil biogeochemical variables,and tree diameter and basal area *** litterfall rates in juvenile and mature stands did not change with litter removal over the study *** litterfall ranged from 4.1 to 4.9 Mg ha^(−1)a^(−1)in litter removal plots and from 3.9 to 4.8 Mg ha^(−1)a^(−1)in control *** wood litter decomposition was slower in litter removal plots compared to controls,while leaf decomposition rates were similar in *** years of litter removal in the juvenile stand did not aff ect topsoil biogeochemical parameters but decreased available phosphorus at 20–40 cm depth relative to *** the mature stand,total cation exchange capacity(0–20 cm)was higher in controls(6.4 cmol c dm^(−3))relative to litter removal plots(6.3 cmol c dm^(−3)),while soil moisture(0–40 cm depth)was lower in litter removal(25.45 m 3 m^(−3))compared to control plots(26 m^(3)m^(−3))in the dry season.A non-metric multidimensional scaling ordination revealed an increased homogeneity in epigeic fauna where litter was ***,decomposition,diameter increment,four soil physical parameters and fourteen chemical parameters at 0–20 and 20–40 cm depth explained the diff erences in soil epigeic fauna composition between litter removal and control p

Effect of Anti-Diffusion Oxide Layer on Enhanced Thermal Stability of Magnetic Tunnel Junctions

Magnetic tunnel junctions （MTJs） with one proper oxidized FeOx layer placed between the Al oxide barrier and the top CoFe pinned layer show large tunnelling-magnetoresistance （TMR） signals as high as 39% after anneal at 380℃. The increased TMR signal may originate from the as-deposited Fe/FeOx （non-magnetic） layers changing to Fe＋magnetic FeOy layer （some Fe3O4 and mostly other kind of magnetic Fe oxide） after high temperature anneal. The maximum TMR value （TMR ） and the corresponding temperature Ts where the TMRmax occurs upon annealing are closely associated with the oxidation time of the AlOx and FeOx layers, too long oxidation for the Fe layers is detrimental for the TMR value. In addition to the enhanced AlOx barrier quality upon anneal, the improved thermal stability is also attributed to the Mn diffusion retardation by the presence of the FeOx layer which acts as an antidiffusion layer. For MTJs without the interposed FeOx layer, the TMR signal reduction at 300℃ originates from the Mnlr/CoFe partially decoupling and CoFe/AlOx interface polarization loss due to the significant Mn diffusion.

This research investigates the soil conditioning effect of sugar cane fields with biochar produced from sugarcane *** influence on the physicochemical and microbiological conditions of the soil and the agronomic performance of sugarcane seedlings was *** this end,the biochar from sugarcane bagasse was produced by pyrolysis in a double drum oven and mixed with soil at rates of 0,1%,3%,and 5%(in weight).The experiment was installed in a greenhouse with two evaluation periods(30 days and 60 days)and five *** pot received a pre-sprouted cane seedling,and the analysis of colony-forming units(bacteria and fungi),physicochemical characteristics of the soil,and growth and development of sugarcane were performed per *** biochar showed a high fixed carbon content(72%)and a specific surface area estimated by the adsorption of methylene blue of 50 m2 g−***,its structure is porous and contains important nutrients(e.g.,CaO,K2O,and p2O5).In the periods evaluated,the applications of the 3%and 5%(in weight)rates of biochar reduced most of the soil fertility ***,the chemical analyses indicated that the sugarcane field soil collected already possessed high *** microbiota was influenced,but only the application of the 3%(in weight)rate at 60 days after planting showed a significant positive effect on the number of bacteria forming units,with an increase of approximately 385%.On the other hand,no significant positive effect on sugarcane development was ***,biochar application in high-fertility sugarcane plantation soil did not result in gains for sugarcane development in the periods evaluated.
