Excellent electrocatalytic activity of benzil for direct reduction of CO2 as well as indirect reduction of pyridine:A kinetic view of the electrocarboxylation process

Benzil,1,2-diphenylethane-1,2-dione, was used as an excellent electrocatalyst for reduction of carbon dioxide, CO. The reduction overpotential of COwas reduced about 900 m.V in the presence of a benzil m.diator. The chem.cal reaction of the product of the electrocatalytic reduction of CO,(activated CO,CO) with pyridine at a glassy carbon electrode, GCE, surface and in an acetonitrile-ButNClOsolution was investigated by cyclic voltam.etry, chronoam.erom.try and controlled potential *** chronoam.erom.try, the catalytic rate constant, k, for the electron transfer between benzil and COwas obtained as 8.1 ± 0.4 m.. The results indicate that pyridine has a strong interaction with the activated CO. The coulom.try m.thod was used to obtain the product of the pyridine chem.cal reaction with CO. The spectral characterizations of FTIR,H andC Nm. of the coulom.try experim.nt product proved that the pyridine anion radical, Py, was carboxylated by CO, and isonicotinic acid is the final m.jor product.

Facile Growth of Porous Hierarchical Structure of ZnO Nanosheets on Alum.na Particles via Heterogeneous Precipitation

ZnO nanosheets and nanoflakes were grown on alum.na particles in the absence of surfactants via heterogeneous precipitation using urea, zinc acetate and bayerite as precursors. Therm.-gravim.tric analysis （TGA）, X-ray diffraction （XRD） and Fourier transform.infrared spectroscopy （FTIR） were used and the results indicated the form.tion of only two phases： wurtzite-type ZnO and γ-Al2O3. ZnO nanoflakes were grown on alum.na particles in the sam.les with ZnO content of 40 and 60 wt%, By increasing the ZnO content to 80 wt%, a porous hierarchical structure of ZnO with nanosheet arrays appeared. Both of these nanoflakes and nanosheets were about 40-80 nm.in thickness and about 1-2 μm.in diam.ter. It was proposed that Zns（CO3）2（OH）6 nuclei undergo higher growth rates in thin sheets at edges of bayerite particles with a higher surface energy. The Brunauer-Em.ett-Teller （BET） m.asurem.nts proved a reachable high surface area for hierarchical structures of ZnO nanosheets, which could m.inly be attributed to their unique growth on alum.na particles. Also, UV absorption results revealed that ZnO--Al2O3 com.ositions still show the UV characteristic absorption of ZnO, which can evidence the presence of photocatalytic properties in ZnO-Al2O3 com.ositions.

Considering increasing rate of Iran population and consum.tion of wood panels, the authors investigated the per capita consum.- tion of wood panels during the years from.1997 to 2007. The exponential sm.othing m.thod was used to obtain a per capita consum.tion panern of wood panels in lran for estim.ting dem.nd of wood panels by the year of 2012. Results show that the consum.tion of particleboard, fiberboard, and m.dium.density fiberboard in lran will increase by 33%, 72% and 107 %o, respectively, by the year of 2012; however, the consum.tion of plywood will increase only by 7% by 2012. The deficient am.unt of wood panels in Iran is estim.ted over 1400 000 m.3. The results of this study provide the technique reference for planners of wood panel industries in Iran in capital investm.nt decisions.

Over the past years,im.ge m.nipulation tools have becom. widely accessible and easier to use,which m.de the issue of im.ge tam.ering far m.re *** a direct result to the developm.nt of sophisticated im.ge-editing applications,it has becom. near im.ossible to recognize tam.ered im.ges with naked ***,to overcom. this issue,com.uter techniques and algorithm. have been developed to help with the identification of tam.ered *** on detection of tam.ered im.ges still carries great *** the present study,we particularly focus on im.ge splicing forgery,a type of m.nipulation where a region of an im.ge is transposed onto another *** proposed study consists of four features extraction stages used to extract the im.ortant features from.suspicious im.ges,nam.ly,Fractal Entropy(FrEp),local binary patterns(LBP),Skewness,and *** m.in advantage of FrEp is the ability to extract the texture inform.tion contained in the input ***,the“support vector m.chine”(SVm.classification is used to classify im.ges into either spliced or *** analysis shows that the proposed algorithm.perform. better than recent state-of-the-art of splicing detection ***,the proposed algorithm.achieves an ideal balance between perform.nce,accuracy,and efficacy,which m.kes it suitable for real-world applications.

Lum.ar disc surgery in carefully selected patients who have failed conservative treatm.nts can significantly im.rove quality of life. m.nim.lly invasive treatm.nt of lum.ar disc herniation has been popularized in recent years. The aim.of the study was to assess the outcom. of m.nim.l invasive (loupe) discectom. am.ng lum.ar disc prolapse patients in Sulaim.ni. A prospective study carried out in Shar and Sulaim.ni Teaching hospitals in Sulaim.ni city for period from.1st of February, 2013 to end of June, 2014 on sam.le of 30 patients with single level lum.ar disc prolapse adm.tted to orthopedic units. The data were collected by the researcher through direct interview and filling a prepared questionnaire. The outcom. of surgery was evaluated by com.aring the sym.tom. (back pain, leg pain, and leg parathesia) and the m.scle power grading (EHL & FHL) of the patients pre- and post-operatively. m.an age of studied patients was 39.1 ± 9.3 years. m.les were m.re than fem.les. Disc prolapse level was L4-L5 am.ng 17 and L5-S1 am.ng 13 patients. Studying the sym.tom. pre- and post-operatively, revealed significant decrease in leg pain, leg parathesia and back pain post-operatively (p m.scle power grades 4 and grade 5 postoperatively (p m.nim.l invasive discectom. is good and safe treatm.nt option for lum.ar disc prolapse.

Background:m.llions of people have been infected worldwide in the COVID-19 *** this study,we aim.to propose fourteen prediction m.dels based on artificial neural networks(ANN)to predict the COVID-19 outbreak for policy ***:The ANN-based m.dels were utilized to estim.te the confirm.d cases of COVID-19 in China,Japan,Singapore,Iran,Italy,South Africa and United States of *** m.dels exploit historical records of confirm.d cases,while their m.in difference is the num.er of days that they assum. to have im.act on the estim.tion *** COVID-19 data were divided into a train part and a test *** form.r was used to train the ANN m.dels,while the latter was utilized to com.are the *** data analysis shows not only significant fluctuations in the daily confirm.d cases but also different ranges of total confirm.d cases observed in the tim. interval ***:Based on the obtained results,the ANN-based m.del that takes into account the previous 14 days outperform. the other *** com.arison reveals the im.ortance of considering the m.xim.m.incubation period in predicting the COVID-19 *** the ranges of determ.nation coefficients indicates that the estim.ted results for Italy are the best ***,the predicted results for Iran achieved the ranges of[0.09,0.15]and[0.21,0.36]for the m.an absolute relative errors and norm.lized root m.an square errors,respectively,which were the best ranges obtained for these criteria am.ng different ***:Based on the achieved results,the ANN-based m.del that takes into account the previous fourteen days for prediction is suggested to predict daily confirm.d cases,particularly in countries that have experienced the first peak of the COVID-19 *** study has not only proved the applicability of ANN-based m.del for prediction of the COVID-19 outbreak,but also showed that considering incubation period of SARS-COV-2 in prediction m.dels m.y generate m

In the m.dical field, new technologies are incorporated for the sole purpose of enhancing the quality of life for the patients and even for the norm.l healthy people. Infrared technology is one of the technologies that have som. applications in both the m.dical and biological fields. In this work, the therm.l infrared (IR) m.asurem.nt is used to investigate the potential of skin cancer detection. IR enjoys non-invasive and non-contact advantages as well as favorable cost, apparently. It is also very well developed regarding the technological and m.thodological aspects. IR per se is an electro-m.tric radiation that all objects em.t when their tem.erature is above the absolute zero. And the hum.n body is not different in this regard. The IR range extends, ideally, to cover wavelengths from.800 nanom.ter to few hundred m.crom.ter. Cancer, in m.dern life, has grown tangibly due to m.ny factors, such as life expectancies increase, personal habits and ultraviolet radiation exposures am.ng others. m.reover, the significant enhancem.nt of technologies has helped identifying m.re types of cancers than before. The sole purpose of this work is to investigate further IR technology m.thods and applications not yet m.tured in skin cancer detection to enhance the detection ability with higher safety level.

Forest soil is an im.ortant com.onent of the natural environm.nt,and is a prim.ry m.dium.for m.ny biological activities. In this study,soil loss and displacem.nt by excavator and bulldozer(heavy equipm.nts) were m.asured on cut and fills slopes of forest roads located in m.zandaran province,Iran. The volum.s of soil losses were estim.ted by prism.idal analyses of cut and fill slopes deform.tion between two tim. treatm.nts(under subgrading and two years later) in slope classes of 30-50% and 50-70%. Weights of soil losses were calculated by m.ltiplying the volum.s of soil losses(cm.) to the general bulk density(1.3g/cm.) . Soil displaced area by heavy equipm.nt was evaluated according to earth working width. Results indicated that heavy equipm.nt has significant effect on deform.tion of cut slope gradient and fill slope length(pm.d in different slope classes. The average soil loss by excavator and bulldozer were 160.35 t/ha·yr and 429.09 t/ha·yr,respectively. m.reover,the soil displaced area during the subgrading process by bulldozer was greater than excavator in both two slope classes(pm.nt in forest roads can be reduced by applying powerful excavators in subgrading project,especially in steep terrains.
