Background:Burn is a cutaneous injury that is caused by heat,electricity,chemicals,freezing,and *** and Objectives:This study aimed to differentiate between dry heat burn injury and other common cutaneous burn *** and Methods:For this,different types of dermal burns were created experimentally in four groups of rats,5 rats for each,as the following:dry heat burn model,scalding model,chemical burn model,and electrical burn *** burnt skin and hair samples were subjected to scanning electron microscopic examination,molecular assay of aquaporin-3(AQP-3)gene expression,and histopathological ***:There were crakes,holes,and cuticular irregularity in hairs exposed to both dry heat and sulfuric acid(chemical burn),while the major lesion observed in hairs exposed to boiling water(scald injury)was cuticular cell *** the other hand,dry burnt skin showed empty orifices of the hair and sebaceous gland with overlapped smooth lamella,while scald induced irregularity of collagen *** sulfuric acid produces separation of the epidermis from the dermis and irregularity in collagen *** skin exposed to electric current appears with fissure,lacerated edges,and erected broken *** AQP-3 gene expression was significantly upregulated in the burnt skin of all experimental models in comparing with control rats,dry heat burned skin showed the highest upregulated *** addition,the coagulation of the dermoepidermal cells and vesicles formation were the most pronounced lesions observed in all types of burns,while scald was distinguished by appearance of elongated cellular ***:These observations suggest the possibility to differentiate between dry thermal burn,scald injury,chemical burn,and electrical burn using the combination between scanning electron microscopic examination,analysis of cutaneous AQP-3 gene expression,and histological investigation.

Biochemical Liver Functions and Molecular identification of Fasciola hepatica from Experimentally infected Rat Model

The current study was performed to evaluate the liver function status as well as molecular characterization of the recovered worms in rats experimentally infected with F. hepatica. Sixteen male Wister rats aged 30 days were randomly allocated into two groups (n = 8). The first group was infected orally with 15 viable encysted metacercaria of F. hepatica per animal. The other group was kept non-infected (control group). At zero time (before infection), the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 12th and 14th weeks post-infection (WPi), blood and serum samples were collected via puncture of retro-orbital plexus of veins from each rat. Serum enzyme level (AST and ALT) and total protein were measured, and the serum protein profile was carried out using agarose gel electrophoresis. During the period of the experiment, serum ALT and AST activities and serum total globulins significantly increased while serum total proteins and albumin markedly decreased in the infected group. On the 14th WPi, the data of the electropherogram showed that globulin fractions (α1-, β- and γ-globulin) levels were significantly increased while α2-globulin was markedly decreased in the infected group. The molecular analysis confirmed the amplification of the iTS1, iTS2 and NDi genes of F. hepatica recovered from the infected liver of rats with amplicon sizes of 630, 510 and 560 bp, respectively. Sequencing of the amplified iTS gene resulted in the determination of 3 strains (PP108836, PP108837, and PP108838). Also, analysis of the iTS2 gene resulted in obtaining 3 isolates under the accession numbers (PP109065, PP109066, and PP109067). in conclusion, fasciolosis in the rat model is suitable for routine experimental infections and caused a pronounced liver dysfunction with discharging of the Fasciola eggs in the faeces and the development of adult stages in the bile ducts. Prevelance of Bovine Cysticercosis in Egypt and the Cysticidal Effect of Two Extracts Obtained from Balanites aegyptiaca and Moringa oleifera on Mice Model Affected with T. saginata Cysticerci

The aim of the present study was to determine the prevalence of bovine cysticercosis in both cattle and buffloas, in Egypt and to assess the cysticidal efficacy of Balanites aegyptiaca fruits (B. aegyptiaca) and Moringa oleifera seeds (M. oleifera) extracts in experimentally infected mice. The study detected the level of tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) to monitor the immune and inflammatory responses of experimentally infected mice. Through meat inspection, a total number of 2125 male bovine, 2 to 5 years old, (1125 cattle and 1000 buffloes) were examined under the authority of Albsatine and Alwaraq official abattoirs in Cairo Governorate, Egypt covering the period extended from March 2022 to April 2023. The overall prevalence of the disease among bovine was 7.8% (6.31% of cattle and 9.5% of buffloes). Besides, B. aegyptiaca and M. oleifera extracts showed cysticidal activity in experimentally infected mice. A decrease in the numbers of cysticerci was found in all treated mice groups, and up to 88% reduction was achieved in the B. aegyptiaca-treated group;higher than that was recorded in both M. oleifera (72.23%) and albendazole-treated ones (80.56%). Postmortem findings proved that M. oleifera and B. aegyptiaca reduced cysticerci numbers comparable to a commercial anthelmintic. The study showed a significant decrease (P 0.001) in TNF-α levels after treatment with Balanites and Moringa extracts, compared with the untreated control and the albendazole-treated groups.

Text Rank for Domain Specific Using Field Association Words

Text Rank is a popular tool for obtaining words or phrases that are important for many Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks. This paper presents a practical approach for Text Rank domain specific using Field Association (FA) words. We present the keyphrase separation technique not for a single document, although for a particular domain. The former builds a specific domain field. The second collects a list of ideal FA terms and compounds FA terms from the specific domain that are considered to be contender keyword phrases. Therefore, we combine two-word node weights and field tree relationships into a new approach to generate keyphrases from a particular domain. Studies using the changed approach to extract key phrases demonstrate that the latest techniques including FA terms are stronger than the others that use normal words and its precise words reach 90%.

Synergetic effect of Egyptian propolis in immunization of BALB/c mice against bovine cysticercosis

Objective: To evaluate the synergetic effect of an ethanolic extract of Egyptian propolis in immunization of BALB/c mice with Taenia saginata(T. saginata) crude antigen against bovine cysticercosis, with reference to its effects on liver and kidney ***: Sixty female mice BALB/c strain weighing 20 to 25 g and 6-8 weeks old were randomly allocated into six groups of ten mice each. Mice in groups 1 and 2(G1 and G2) were immunized intraperitoneally with 100 μg of T. saginata crude antigen in 100 μL phosphate buffer saline emulsified in Freund's adjuvant. Besides, the mice in G2 were administered with propolis extract simultaneously with immunization. Control mice were either administered with propolis extract(G3) or injected with the same volume of phosphate buffer saline emulsified in Freund's adjuvant(G4). The mice in G5 were non-immunized infected control while, those in G6 were non-immunized non-infected control. Two weeks after the last immunization, each mouse was challenged intraperitoneally with 5 000 oncospheres except those of G6. Ethanolic extract of propolis was prepared at a dose 50 mg/kg body ***: After 24 weeks of challenge, the mice in G2 showed the highest level of protection(100%), with no cyst being detected rather than mice in G1(33.3% protection). Additionally,the eliSA results, in this study, showed higher antibody titer in G2 with reduction the alteration in liver and kidney functions compared to ***: Egyptian propolis could increase the level of protection against experimental challenge infection with T. saginata eggs when administered simultaneously with immunization. Furthermore, it could enhance the production of antibodies to immunized antigen and decrease the alteration in liver and kidney functions.

Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma in Young People

Background: malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is characterized by long latency period between exposure to asbestos and development of the disease so we hypothesize that MPM in the young has different characteristics. Patients and Methods: This is a retrospective study including all eligible patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma presenting to National Cancer institute, Cairo University during the period from 2008 to 2013. Patients were divided into two groups: Group 1: patients aged ≤45 years. Group 2: Patients aged >45 years. Both groups were assessed regarding different clinicpathological features. Primary Objectives: comparison of different epidemiological features of both groups. Secondary Objectives: assessment of clinical response (CR), progression free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in both groups. Results: 102 Patients were included with median follow up of 14.4 months. Group (1) included 35 patients with mean age 40 ± 3.65 years (31 to 45 years). Group (2) included 67 patients with mean age of 58.6 ± 8.5 years (46 to 87 years). 68% of group (1) came from endemic areas which is significantly higher than group (2): (35.8%), p = 0.02. History of Asbestos exposure was highly significantly different between the 2 groups, 77.1% in group (1) versus 38.8% in group (2), p ignificant differences between the two groups. Overall clinical response (CR + PR) was 20% in group (1) versus 17.9% in group (2). P = 0.7. There was a trend towards longer median PFS in young patients, (19.8 ± 8.4 versus 6.9 ± 1.4 months). p = 0.09. The median OS of young patients is significantly longer (20.6 ± 6.3 months) than older patients (11.4 ± 3.6). p = 0.05. Conclusions: Mesothelioma in the young is more sensitive to asbestos exposure, has better OS and likely a different disease entity which needs further studies to understand its underlying biological features.

Preparation, Characterization, and Application of Manganese Oxide Coated Zeolite as Adsorbent for Removal of Copper(ii) ions from Seawater

The present study is aimed to examine the adsorption characteristics of Cu(ii) by using the novel cellulose acetate composite and to apply it for the removal of Cu(ii) from real wastewater samples. in order to achieve this objective, ethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine, triethylenetetramine and te-traethylenepentanene were used for immobilization of grafted cellulose acetate-nanoscale manganese dioxide. Cellulose was extracted from mangrove species Avicennia marina and converted to cellulose acetate then it was formed composite with nano-manganese dioxide via precipitation of nano-manganese dioxide on it. The composite was grafted with acrylamide monomer before immobilization. The synthesized compounds were used for adsorption of Cu(ii) and characterized by FT-iR, TGA and SEM. The adsorption characteristics of synthesized sorbents were optimized. Langmuir and Freundlich models were used to establish sorption equilibria. The analytical applications of these modified materials were applied successfully for the removal of Cu(ii).

Population Pharmacokinetics of Methotrexate in Egyptian Children with Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Background: individualization of high dose regimen of methotrexate (MTX) in pediatric patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia based on pharmacokinetic (PK) parameters can help in optimization of the dose and better control of the disease. Building up of a pharmacokinetic model can help dose optimization. Objectives: A NONMEM based population (POP) PK model has been subsequently developed to evaluate the effect of demographics as covariates to address variability in pharmacokinetics of MTX. Method: Forty one patients (24 males & 17 females) with ranges of age, body weight and height of 3 - 15 years, 13 - 54 kg and 100 - 177 cm respectively and diagnosed as acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) were involved in the study. MTX was administered as i.v. infusion at a dose of 2 gm/m2 over a period of two hour and its plasma concentrations were determined primarily at 24 hr post-dose to be utilized in the building-up of PK *** initial/prior estimates of volumes of central (V1) and peripheral compartments (V2) and clearance (CL) and inter-compartmental clearance (Q2) for MTX were extracted from literature. The inter-subject variability was estimated for V1 & CL. The influence of different covariates on model performance and parameter estimates was assessed by evaluating the difference in objective function value. The final POP PK model was validated by bootstrap re-sampling procedures (1000 runs) and the 95% confidence intervals for the estimates were calculated. Results: The POP estimates for CL, V1 and V2 were 2.18 L/h, 5.74 L and 11.2 L respectively. The inter-individual variability for the CL and V1 was 23% and 30% respectively. The covariates analysis showed effect of body surface area and sex on the CL and weight on V1. Conclusions: The POP-PK model developed adequately defines the population PK of MTX in pediatric patients with lymphoblastic leukemia. A Validated High-Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography (Hptlc) Method for the Quantitative Determination of Tricin in Two <i>Spergularia</i>Species

A simple, sensitive, precise and robust high-performance thin-layer chromatographic (HPTLC) method for analysis of tricin has been developed and validated for the determination of tricin in genus Spergularia. Analysis of tricin was performed on pre-coated TLC aluminum plates with silica gel as the stationary phase. Linear ascending development was carried out in double twin trough glass chamber saturated with a mobile phase consisting of chloroform: methanol (37:3 v/v). Spectro-densitometric scanning was performed by TLC scanner iii (CAMAG) in absorbance mode at the wavelength of 270 nm. The system was found to give compact spots for tricin (Rf value of 0.34 ± 0.04). The linear regression analysis data for the calibration plots showed a good linear relationship with r2 = 0.9981 in the concentration range 2-15 μl with respect to peak area. According to the international Conference on Harmonization (iCH) guidelines, the method was validated for precision, recovery, and robustness. The tricin content quantified from Spergularia marina and S. daiandra was found to be 0.398 mg/100g and 1.642 mg/100g fresh weight, respectively. Statistical analysis of the data showed that the method is reproducible and selective for the estimation of tricin.
