The present study was carried out to determine the essential oil composition of aerial parts of two endemic umbelliferae herbs （Malabaila lasiocarpa Boiss. and Stenotaenia macrocarpa Freyn ＆ Sint. ex Freyn） collected from Bingol （Turkey）, using headspace solid-phase microextraction method and gas chromatography （GC） interfaced with mass spectrometer analysis. Forty six and 43 compounds were identified for M. lasiocarpa and S. macrocarpa, respectively, representing 91.40% and 90.86% of their respective essential oils. Germacrene D （20.71%）,β-elemene （12.40%）, spathulenol （11.60%） and β-selinene （9.67%） were identified as the major compound of M. lasiocarpa. β-sesquiphellandrene （19.68%）, hexyl isobutyrate （12.65%） and octanal （9.53%） were found to be the major compounds ofS. macrocarpa. Essential oil composition ofM. lasiocarpa has been determined for the first time and the results have been discussed in view of chemotaxonomy, natural products and potential usefulness of these plants.

Priapism is defined as a prolonged and persistent erection of the penis without sexual stimulation. This is a poorly understood disease process with little information on the pathophysiology of this erectile disorder. Complications from this disorder are devastating due to the irreversible erectile damage and resultant erectile dysfunction （ED）. Stuttering priapism, though relatively rare, affects a high prevalence of men with sickle-cell disease （SCD） and presents a challenging problem with guidelines for treatment lacking or resulting in permanent ED. The mechanisms involved in the development of priapism in this cohort are poorly characterized; therefore, medical management of priapism represents a therapeutic challenge to urologists. Additional research is warranted, so we can effectively target treatments for these patients with prevention as the goal. This review gives an introduction to stuttering priapism and its clinical significance, specifically with regards to the patient with SCD. Additionally, the proposed mechanisms behind its pathophysiology and a summary of the current and future targets for medical management are discussed.

Electrical probing of carrier separation in InAs/InP/GaAsSb core-dualshell nanowires

We investigate the tunnel coupling between the outer p-type GaAsSb shell and the n-type InAs core in catalyst-free InAs/lnP/GaAsSb core-dualshell *** present a device fabrication protocol based on wet-etching processes on selected areas of the nanostructures that enables multiple configurations of measurements in the same nanowire-based device(***-shell,core-core and core-shell).Low-temperature(4.2 K)transport in the shell-shell configuration in nanowires with 5 nm-thick InP barrier reveals a weak negative differential ***,when the InP barrier thickness is increased to 10 nm,this negative differential resistance is fully *** electrical resistance between the InAs core and the GaAsSb shell,measured in core-shell configuration,is significantly higher with respect to the resistance of the InAs core and of the GaAsSb *** field effect,applied via a back-gate,has an opposite impact on the electrical transport in the core and in the shell *** results show that electron and hole free carriers populate the InAs and GaAsSb regions respectively and indicate InAs/InP/GaAsSb core-dualshell nanowires as an ideal system for the investigation of the physics of interacting electrons and holes at the nanoscale.

Objective:To investigate the relation between fruit seeds,plants residuals and appendicitis. Methods:Among cases that underwent appendectomy,the appendicitis cases having fruit seeds and undigested plant residuals in their etiology were examined ***, histopathological features,age,sex,and parameters of morbidity and mortality were used. Results:Fruit seed was found in one case(0.05%) with presence of pus in appendix lumen, undigested plant residuals in 7 cases(0.35%).It was determined that there were appendix inflammation in 2 of the plant residuals cases,while there were obstruction and lymphoid hyperplasia in the appendix lumen of 5 *** mortality was ***:The ratio of acute appendicitis caused by plants is minimal among all appendectomised patients, but avoidence of eating undigested fruit seeds and chewing plants well may help to prevent appendicitis.

BACKGROUND Microvillus inclusion disease(MVID)is a rare autosomal recessive cause of severe congenital diarrhea with significant morbidity and *** treatment involves bowel *** diagnosis of this condition can be challenging and a few genetic panels are available for the identification of the most common *** present the case of an infant with MVID due to a mutation not reported in the literature *** SUMMARY We report the case of an infant transferred to our institution with severe diarrhea of unknown etiology,failure to thrive,and significant metabolic *** extensive work-up including stool studies for common gastrointestinal pathogens,abdominal ultrasound,esophagogastroduodenoscopy with duodenal biopsy and flexible sigmoidoscopy failed to reveal a *** dietary and formula regimens were introduced but all resulted in voluminous *** remained on total parenteral nutrition(TPN)for the duration of her hospital *** testing was done and she was subsequently found to have a novel mutation in the MYO5B gene[homozygous mutation for MYO5B c.1462del,p.(Ile488Leufs*93)]giving us the diagnosis of *** remains on TPN while awaiting bowel transplant at the time of the compilation of this case *** We report a novel mutation involved in MVID and highlight the importance of considering this disease when faced with a newborn presenting with life threatening *** the time of this publication,232 allelic variations of this gene(MIM#606540)exist in National Center for Biotechnology Information’s *** patient’s mutation has not been reported in literature as a cause of MVID.

Citations based relevant research paper recommendations can be generated primarily with the assistance of three citation models:(1)Bibliographic Coupling,(2)Co-Citation,and(3)Direct *** of new scholarly articles are published every *** flux of scientific information has made it a challenging task to devise techniques that could help researchers to find the most relevant research papers for the paper at *** this study,we have deployed an in-text citation analysis that extends the Direct Citation Model to discover the nature of the relationship degree-ofrelevancy among scientific *** this purpose,the relationship between citing and cited articles is categorized into three categories:weak,medium,and *** an experiment,around 5,000 research papers were crawled from the *** research papers were parsed for the identification of in-text citation ***,0.1 million references of those articles were extracted,and their in-text citation frequencies were computed.A comprehensive benchmark dataset was established based on the user ***,the results were validated with the help of Least Square Approximation by Quadratic Polynomial *** was found that degreeof-relevancy between scientific papers is a quadratic increasing/decreasing polynomial with respect to-increase/decrease in the in-text citation frequencies of a cited ***,the results of the proposed model were compared with state-of-the-art techniques by utilizing a well-known measure,known as the normalized Discount Cumulative Gain(nDCG).The proposed method received an nDCG score of 0.89,whereas the state-of-the-art models such as the Content,Bibliographic-coupling,and Metadata-based Models were able to acquire the nDCG values of 0.65,0.54,and 0.51 *** results indicate that the proposed mechanism may be applied in future information retrieval systems for better results.

Antimicrobial Agents from Selected Medicinal Plants in Libya

Objective： To test the in vitro antimicrobial efficacy of water and methanol extracts of 23 plant species that are commonly used in Libyan folk medicine. Methods： The antimicrobial activity was determined using the well-diffusion method. Four test microorganisms were used namely, Escherichia coil, Salmonella species, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis. The minimum inhibitory concentration （MIC） was determined for the high biologically active crude plant extracts. Results： Among 23 medicinal plants used in the study, only 5 methanolic extracts [Rosmarinus offcinalis L., Carduus marianium L., Lantana camara L., Rhus tripartite （ueria） Grande, and Thymus capitatus （L.） Hoffm （link）] showed the highest antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and Salmonella species, while 22 methanolic and aqueous extracts showed moderate to weak antimicrobial activity on all tested organisms. However 19 of the extracts showed no activity at all against Gram -ve and Gram ＋ve microorganisms. MIC was found to be 1.25 mg/mL （Thymus capitatus）, 3 mg/mL （Rhus tripartite）, 4 mg/mL （Carduus marianium）, 5 mg/mL （Rosamarinus officinalis） and 5 mg/mL （Lantana camara）, respectively. Condusions： The present results revealed that, crude methanolic extracts of the investigated Libyan folk medicinal plants exhibited mild to high in vitro antibactedal activities against Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms.

Compressive Sensing Approach in Multicarrier Sparsely Indexing Modulation Systems

recently the indexed modulation(IM) technique in conjunction with the multi-carrier modulation gains an increasing attention. It conveys additional information on the subcarrier indices by activating specific subcarriers in the frequency domain besides the conventional amplitude-phase modulation of the activated subcarriers. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) with IM(OFDM-IM) is deeply compared with the classical OFDM. It leads to an attractive trade-off between the spectral efficiency(SE) and the energy efficiency(EE). In this paper, the concept of the combinatorial modulation is introduced from a new point of view. The sparsity mapping is suggested intentionally to enable the compressive sensing(CS) concept in the data recovery process to provide further performance and EE enhancement without SE loss. Generating artificial data sparsity in the frequency domain along with naturally embedded channel sparsity in the time domain allows joint data recovery and channel estimation in a double sparsity framework. Based on simulation results, the performance of the proposed approach agrees with the predicted CS superiority even under low signal-to-noise ratio without channel coding. Moreover, the proposed sparsely indexed modulation system outperforms the conventional OFDM system and the OFDM-IM system in terms of error performance, peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR) and energy efficiency under the same spectral efficiency.
