Effect of forest fragment size on tree diversity and population structure of humid subtropical forest of meghalaya, India

The present study was conducted in subtropical humid forests of meghalaya to study the distributional pattern of species, floristic composition, community structure and tree population *** fragments of varying sizes(0.5 ha, 1 ha, 2 ha and 5 ha) were used in the *** of the forest fragments are distributed within the same altitudinal range, and had similar rainfall and temperature *** forest fragments were sampled using random quadrats to analyze the impact of fragment size on tree diversity and population *** were used to compare the dispersion pattern of plant species, species diversity among fragments, and the heterogeneity and homogeneity of the fragments.A total of 45 tree species were recorded from all the fragments and simple correlation showed that the species richness was positively related to fragment size(n = 4, Pmeasures such as stand density, basal cover, diversity and dominance indices were unrelated to fragment *** canopy was composed mainly of Castonopsis indica, ***, Schima khasiana and Engelhardtia spicata in all of the fragments.A majority of woody tree species were contagiously distributed which made the forest community highly patchy in *** values of Sorensen's similarity index and high values of Whittaker's β-diversity index between the fragments suggest marked difference in the species composition among the *** maximum stand density, basal area, Shannon diversity index and Simpson dominance index was recorded in a 5-ha *** in lower girth classes(15-55 cm circumference at breast height, CBH) accounted for 52-86% of stand density in all fragments except in 0.5-ha fragments where middle girth class(55-95 cm CBH) accounted for 47% of the total stand *** overall density of seedlings, saplings and adult trees formed a pyramidal structure, indicating that the period between the sapling and adult stage was a critical stage in tree life cycles, as the

Detecting Anomalies in Irregular Data Using K-means Clustered Signal Dictionary

The critical nature of satellite network traffic provides a challenging environment to detect intrusions. The intrusion detection method presented aims to raise an alert whenever satellite network signals begin to exhibit anomalous patterns determined by Euclidian distance metric. In line with anomaly-based intrusion detection systems, the method presented relies heavily on building a model of＂normal＂ through the creation of a signal dictionary using windowing and k-means clustering. The results of three signals fi＇om our case study are discussed to highlight the benefits and drawbacks of the method presented. Our preliminary results demonstrate that the clustering technique used has great potential for intrusion detection for non-periodic satellite network signals.

Aggregate Development and Organic matter Storage in mediterranean mountain Soils

Soil aggregation and organic matter of soils from the pre-Pyrenean range in Catalonia (NE Spain) were studied,in order to assess their quality as carbon sinks and also to select the best soil management practices to preserve their *** stability,organic carbon and micromorphology were *** highest amount of organic carbon was found in alluvial,deep soils (228 mg C ha -1 ),and the lowest was in a shallow,stony soil with a low plant cover (78 mg C ha -1 ).Subsurface horizons of degraded soils under pastures were the ones with smaller and less-stable *** residues of organic matter (om) were found mostly in interaggregate *** the aggregates there were some organic remains that were beginning to decompose,and also impregnative nodules of amorphous *** om was evenly distributed among the aggregate fractions,the larger blocky peds had more specific surface,contained less decomposed om and had a lower organic/mineral interphase than smaller crumb aggregates,which were also more *** carbon storage was affected primarily by the om inputs in the surface *** order to store organic carbon over the mid- and long-term periods,the mechanisms favouring structuration through biological activity and creating small aggregates with intrapedal stable microporosities seemed to be the most effective.

In response to increasing concerns over climate change,soil health and wine quality,grape growers are seeking new practices(e.g.,biochar application)to minimize their environmental footprint while increasing productivity and the quality of their *** explore the potential of biochar-based amendments to achieve these goals in wine grape production,vineyard trials were established in the fall of *** Oregon sites were chosen with distinct soil types and climates(Willamette Valley and Rogue Valley)but planted with the same grapevine scion/rootstock Pinot noir *** treatments were applied under vines at each location:no biochar-no tillage(NT);no biochar+tillage(B0);18 tons ha^(−1)biochar+tillage(B18);35 tons ha^(−1)biochar+tillage(B35).In 2019,a suite of soil health,plant,and crop variables were measured,and wines were produced after *** incorporation of biochar modified the chemical and physical composition of soils at the two studied locations,increasing the bioavailability of carbon and nitrogen,their gravimetric water content and the concentration of plant available micro and macro *** responses of plant physiology parameters or productivity at either site were found after biochar incorporation when compared with ***,a significant and gradual decrease in the amount of wine tannins was found as a result of biochar application in wines produced from grapes from the Woodhall ***-term field experiments are required to assess the effects of biochar on soil properties,vine physiol-ogy,productivity,and grape and wine quality several years after incorporation.

more frequent extreme rainfall events associated with global climate change cause greater challenges for soil *** erosion occurs on many unpaved roads since these structures create important water flow paths during heavy *** present research aimed to investigate the intensity and influencing factors of unpaved road erosion under varied land use and management conditions(sloping cropland,terraced cropland,forest&grass).The erosion occurred in the watersheds contributing runoff water to roads after the greatest rainfall event recorded in the mountain area of northern China caused by Typhon *** research was conducted in an agricultural-forest-dominated watershed based on field investigation and UAV-based image analysis.A road erosion level classification standard was given according to the occurrence of rills,ephemeral gullies,and *** erosion happened on 67% of the unpaved roads;42% of them suffered moderate to severe erosion in which ephemeral gullies or gullies *** average erosion amount from these roads was 2280.75 t ha-1 and was significantly influenced by the watershed land use type and *** dominant factor governing unpaved road erosion associated with terraced cropland was vegetation coverage on *** area was the most important factor for road erosion in sloping cropland and forest&grass land,and road gradient was also a critical ***,and forest&grass in drainage areas significantly reduced unpaved road erosion by 85%and,47%,respectively,compared to sloping *** integrated measures should be used to prevent unpaved road *** results of this research can be applied to road protection against erosion in heavy storms.

中药穴位注射治疗早中期膝关节骨性关节炎的近期疗效观察及肌力分析

目的观察中药穴位注射疗法对早中期膝关节骨性关节炎患者Western Ontario大学和mcmaster大学关节炎量表(WomAC)评分及膝关节屈伸肌力的影响。方法将2015年7月至2017年12月该科收治的80例患者按照随机数字表法分为中药穴位注射组和玻璃酸钠组,每组40例。中药穴位注射组采用膝关节穴位注射舒血宁注射液治疗,玻璃酸钠组采用关节腔注射玻璃酸钠治疗,每组均每周注射1次,5次为1个疗程,同时使用BIODEX System 4等速肌力测试系统测试等速向心/向心模式下的患膝关节屈、伸肌力矩峰值。观察2组治疗前后的WomAC评分及膝关节屈、伸肌力矩峰值的变化情况。结果 2组治疗疗效比较,差异无统计学意义(P>0.05);2组治疗后的WomAC评分均较同组治疗前下降,且中药穴位注射组治疗后WomAC评分较玻璃酸钠组低,差异均有统计学意义(P0.05);在低速角速度(60°/s)下,2组治疗后膝关节屈肌力矩峰值与治疗前比较,差异均有统计学意义(P0.05)。结论中药穴位注射疗法治疗早中期膝关节骨性关节炎的疗效确切,可以减轻疼痛,改善膝关节功能,提高膝关节伸肌肌力,是一种治疗早中期膝关节骨性关节炎的有效方法。

＜正＞Rangeland resource management for sustainable development stili remains one of the unresolved issues facing policy analysis and development agencies in the developing countries. The need for rangeland management to increase rangeland productivity is a pertinent issue because degraded rangelands are a source of pollutants in form of nutrients from runoff. As a result there is increased runoff erosion and deposition, which leads to changes in spatial arrangement of nutrients and plants along the landscape and general reduction of rangeland productivity. Rangeland recovery was investigated on ridges with and without contour bunds, with specific reference to biomass production and soil properties. The study was conducted in Kakuuto County Rakai District Uganda. Biomass production and soil physical and chemical properties were determined along the landscape. Results indicated that, biomass production was higher on ridges with contour bunds （25.6 t·ha-1） compared to ridges without contour bunds （8 t·ha-1） three year after contour bunds establishment （p＜0.05）. Biomass increased logarithmically overtime on ridges with contour bunds and did not significantly change on ridges without contour bunds. Ridges with contour bunds also presented higher values of pH and om （p＜0.05）. Saturated hydraulic conductivity increased from the summit to the foot slope on ridges with contour bunds and remained uniform along the landscape on ridges without contour bunds.
