Due to the fast changing competitive environment faced by organizations, companies are forced to find ways to quickly adapt to technological innovations, changing demands of customers, and strategic actions taken by competitors. The purpose of the paper is to further the relationship between top management team （TMT） strategic decision speed and firm performance, considering the team processes when making strategic decisions in the face of complex environments. Measures of TMT strategic decision speed, firm performance, team orientation, and environmental complexity were collected from 29 top management teams of Mexican companies, which represented a total of 118 questionnaires. Pearson correlations among the variables and moderated regression analyses were performed, to test the hypotheses included in the study. Results show a positive relation between environmental complexity and TMT strategic decision speed and between team orientation and speed. Furthermore, results show that there is a positive relation between TMT strategic decision speed and firm performance in the presence of team orientation. In other words, team orientation moderates the relationship between TMT strategic speed and firm performance. Among the implications for managers is that they must ensure effective team processes （e.g., building consensus, active participation, and trust among team members） when making strategic decisions in order for the firm to perform better.

This study uses data from 201 Chinese firms to test two competing theories concerning human resource practices and firm performance. "Best practice theory" is supported for many of the human resource practices examined in the study. Contingency theory is generally not supported for three contingencies: business strategy, ownership and industry.

Per-and Polyfluorinated alkyl substances(PFAS)are a broad class of synthetic compounds that have fluorine substituted for hydrogen in several or all locations and are globally categorized as PFCs(perfluorochemicals;commonly called fluorinated chemicals).These compounds have unique chemical and physical properties that enable their use in non-stick surfaces,fire-fighting efforts,and as slick ***,recent concerns over the health effects of such compounds,specifically perfluorooctanoic acid and perfluorooctane sulfonic acid(PFOA,PFOS;PFOA/S),have led to increased attention and research by the global community into degradation *** this study,soil samples from PFAS-contamination sites were cultured and screened for microbes with PFOA/S degradation potential,which led to the identification of Delftia *** was found that *** isolated from PFAS-contaminated soils was capable of growth in minimal media with PFOA as a sole carbon resource,and an observable fluoride concentration increase was observed when cells were exposed to *** suggests potential activity of a dehalogenase enzyme that may be of use in PFOA or PFAS microbial remediation *** associated haloacid dehalogenases have been identified in the *** genome and have been engineered for expression in Escherichia coli for rapid production and *** enzymes have shown potential for enzymatic defluorination,a significant step in biological degradation and removal of PFOA/S from the *** hypothesize that bioremediation of PFAS using naturally occurring microbial degradation pathways may represent a novel approach to remove PFAS contamination.

The prolactin-inducible-protein (PIP): A regulatory molecule in adaptive and innate immunity

The Prolactin-inducible-protein (PIP)/Gross Cystic Disease Fluid Protein-15 (GCDFP-15) gene is highly expressed in salivary, lacrimal and sweat glands and the protein abundantly found in the secretions that originate from these glands;saliva, tears and sweat. PIP is thus considered to be strategically located at sites viewed as the first port of entry for invading organisms. PIP is also found over-expressed under abnormal and pathological conditions of the breast and prostate. The function of PIP has yet to be defined but it has been implicated to play a role in immunity, with respect to bacterial and viral infection, cancer and fertility. Despite such predictive functions, there is still no clear demonstration of an immunoregulatory role for PIP. In this review we will focus on accumulating evidence that suggests a role for PIP in both innate and adaptive immunity. Moreover, we will discuss recent evidence that defines a modulatory role for PIP with regards to a CD4+ T cell immune response, identifying for the first time, a critical role for PIP in effective cell-mediated immunity against an intracellular pathogen.

A lutetium 177 (177lu) radiopharmaceutical has been used as a theragnostic agent in molecular radiotherapies. This study aimed to produce images simulating those obtained in a total body imaging study with hot lesions to assess and investigate the image quality of the Hawkeye SPECT/CT images from lu-177. The NEMA image quality phantom (PTW) with spheres (inner diameters of 10, 13, 17, 22, 28 and 37 mm) and lung insert was used. The measured volume in the background of the current phantom setting was 9482 ml. The five smaller spheres were filled with an activity concentration of 0.461 MBq/ml and the biggest sphere was filled with water. The phantom was placed on the couch and scanned at four hot sphere-to-background concentrations, which are no background, 16:1, 8:1 and 4:1. The images obtained from the scans were imported onto the OXIRIS image analysis tool. Regions of interest (ROIs) were drawn on each sphere of the reconstructed SPECT image. Image contrast and background variability ratios for hot spheres were used as measures of image quality. In addition, the accuracy of corrections were determined from the uniform background and cold lung insert regions. The 37 mm cold sphere had the highest percent contrast, whiles the 10 mm hot sphere had the least for the various hot sphere to background ratios. The background variability for each hot sphere was also determined. The average lung residual error was calculated to be 23.13% for the 16:1 and 22.57% for both the 8:1 and 4:1 hot sphere to background ratio. The results show that the scanner has very good overall performance.

为了调查大庆盐碱地的中度嗜盐菌资源,采集重度盐碱化的土壤样本进行嗜盐微生物的分离纯化,获得45株中度嗜盐细菌。形态学特征显示,40%菌落呈黄色,其余为乳白色;细胞为直线或弯曲的杆状,G＋和G-细菌比例为19：26。进一步的生理生化特征分析筛选出8株进行16S rDNA基因序列的测定及系统发育分析。结果表明,它们分别属于Bacillus（3株）,Halomonas（2株）和Alkalibacillus（3株）属的菌株。菌株15-2应为现有种Bacillus agaradhaerens,X10-1（或X10-7）可能为Bacillus属潜在的新种,15-7（或X10-2）可能为Halomonas潜在的新种,有待于进一步的验证。研究虽然仅获得了有限的中度嗜盐菌资源,但却丰富了我们对大庆盐碱土中可培养中度嗜盐菌多样性的认识,为今后合理开发和利用大庆地区的嗜盐微生物资源提供了素材和参考。
