The present study aimed to determine whether natural dehydrated f.ed (DNf. can replace dry extruded f.ed while preserving the required daily intake, nutrient digestibility and benef.ts f.r immunity and antioxidant response in cats. The animals were divided into two groups of.seven animals each. One group received DNf. and the other consumed commercial extruded dry f.ed (DCf.. The experiment lasted 45 days and we measured daily consumption and collected blood and f.ces samples. The animals in the DNf.group showed greater digestibility of.f.ber and mineral matter than DCf. Cats in the DNf.group had a higher volume of.f.ces. DNf.cats had lower leukocyte and granulocyte counts and cholesterol levels. Serum enzymatic antioxidant responses and non-enzymatic were higher in DNf.cats. Cats in the DNf.group showed lower serum acute phase proteins in addition to a tendency toward a higher concentration of.transf.rrin than in the DCf.group. f.cal Escherichia coli and total colif.rm counts of.cats f.d DNf.were higher than DCf. We conclude that the daily consumption of.cats is adequate. This f.ed had greater digestibility of.f.ber and mineral matter, in addition to an improvement in antioxidant and immunological responses.

The paper describes some implementation aspects of.an algorithm f.r approximate solution of.the traveling salesman problem based on the construction of.convex closed contours on the initial set of.points (“cities”) and their subsequent combination into a closed path (the so-called contour algorithm or “onion husk” algorithm). A number of.heuristics related to the dif.erent stages of.the algorithm are considered, and various variants of.the algorithm based on these heuristics are analyzed. Sets of.randomly generated points of.dif.erent sizes (f.om 4 to 90 and f.om 500 to 10,000) were used to test the algorithms. The numerical results obtained are compared with the results of.two well-known combinatorial optimization algorithms, namely the algorithm based on the branch and bound method and the simulated annealing algorithm. .

Acute abdomen is a serious clinical condition that requires immediate attention due to its association with intense pain and rapid progression. This article reviews important aspects of.the causes, diagnostics, and treatments of.acute abdomen. The research highlights the diversity of.etiologies, ranging f.om the most common, such as acute appendicitis, to the less f.equent, such as intestinal perf.rations by f.reign bodies. Complex diagnostic methods, including clinical examinations and imaging such as computed tomography, are essential to guide accurate diagnosis, given the overlap of.symptoms among dif.erent conditions. Therapeutic approaches range f.om conservative treatments with clinical observation and antibiotic therapy to urgent surgical interventions, such as appendectomy and cholecystectomy. Laparoscopy stands out as a promising approach, of.ering advantages in terms of.recovery and post-operative morbidity. However, the impact of.the COVID-19 pandemic has brought additional challenges to the diagnosis and treatment of.acute abdomen, with delays and dif.iculties in accessing healthcare. This review underscores the importance of.a multidisciplinary approach and constant updates among healthcare prof.ssionals in addressing acute abdomen, aiming f.r accurate diagnoses and appropriate therapeutic interventions to improve clinical outcomes and reduce morbidity and mortality associated with this complex clinical condition.

In most f.rming systems newly introduced commercial f.rtilizers to be accepted, adopted and used by f.rmers, their ef.ectiveness and appropriate application rates must be exhibited. This study was conducted to validate the ef.ect and rates of.a bio-f.rtilizer (super agric) on oil palm seedling growth. The trial was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three application rates of.0, 4 and 8 ml/L of.water (treatments) replicated thrice. f.llowing the application of.super agric to oil palm seedlings f.r a period of.six months, observations drawn f.om the analysis of.growth data were as f.llows: Three months af.er treatment, super agric signif.cantly (P f.oil palm seedling compared to those which were not applied with super agric. The results also showed that when super agric was applied at a rate of.4 ml/L, the leaf.length and breadth were higher compared to the control were super agric was not used. f.rthermore, applications of.super agric improved oil palm seedling nitrogen uptake by 31% in treatment groups as compared to the control which explained the height and breadth increase in the oil palm seedlings that were applied with super agric. On the other hand, the ef.ect of.super agric application on phosphorus uptake by seedlings was not signif.cant. Although the height, breadth, leaf.width and length were all signif.cantly af.ected by super agric application, the number of.oil palm leaves and spears were not af.ected f.r the period the experiment was conducted. Six months af.er application of.super agric the growth of.oil palm seedlings was f.vorably impacted, hence we recommend super agric to be promoted among oil palm seedling growers.

In a recent study published in Nature,York and coworkers identif.ed the immunometabolic regulation of.mono-unsaturated f.tty acid(MUf.)pools and the subsequent increase in sphingolipid biosynthesis in TLR2-activated macrophages as an important link between impaired IL-10 signaling and the development of.intestinal inf.ammation.1 Thus,targeted interf.rence with the newly identif.ed IL-10/MUf./sphingolipid axis appears as a promising strategy to restore immunometabolic homeostasis in the intestine of.patients with inf.ammatory bowel diseases(IBD).

Calix[n]arenes was utilized to detect PABA,the primary sunscreen *** study investigates the interaction of.calix[4]arene(C4),calix[6]arene(C6),and PABA using the Langmuir method and f.rst-principle density f.nctional theory(Df.).Using the Langmuir-Schaef.r(LS)technique,an ultrathin f.lm composed of.calix[n]arenes and their complexes with PABA was deposited on various *** on the Langmuir study,the PABA molecule was bonded to the lower rims of.both C4 and C6 with the host-guest ratio of.1:*** of.the LS f.lms f.rmed were then characterized by ultravioletvisible spectroscopy(UV-Vis),f.urier-transf.rm inf.ared spectroscopy(f.IR)and carbon,hydrogen,nitrogen,sulf.r elemental analyzer(CHNS).The band gap reduction obtained in the Df. study denotes the charge transf.r interaction with promising reactivity between the calix[n]arenes and *** sensing of.PABA by C4 and C6 is successf.l based on the f.rmation of.bonding between them due to the hosts’ef.ective trapping *** outcomes of.this study could be applied to drug delivery systems f.r f.ture pharmaceutical and medical applications.

HACEK organisms represent a rare but important group of.causative pathogens in endocarditis. These bacteria have historically been associated with culture-negative endocarditis;however, modern laboratory techniques have made this less common. In this case, we present a 74-year-old man who presented with acute onset altered mentation, f.ver, and sepsis. He was ultimately f.und to have Haemophilus inf.uenzae meningitis, cerebral empyema, aortic valve endocarditis, psoas myositis, and L2 - L3 diskitis with osteomyelitis. Although HACEK organisms are commonly f.und in the oropharynx and upper respiratory tract in humans, our patient did not report recent preceding dental or ENT procedures. H. inf.uenzae is responsible f.r approximately 0.16% of.all cases of.bacterial endocarditis, representing a very limited subset. Although generally considered low virulent pathogens, this case demonstrates the unusual extent of.inf.ction f.om a HACEK organism, H. inf.uenzae, causing aortic valve endocarditis as well as atypical non-cardiac sequelae, including acute meningitis.
