Although pharm.ceuticals hav. beend.tected.in the env.ronm.nt only in the range from.ng/L to μg/L, it has beend.m.nstrated.that they can ad.ersely affect the health status of aquatic organism.. Lysosom.l m.m.rane stability （Lm.） has prev.ously been applied.as an ind.cator of cellularwell-being tod.term.ne health status in biv.lv. m.ssels. The objectiv. of this stud. is to ev.luate Lm. in Rud.tapes philippinarum.haem.lym.h using the neutral red.retention assay （NRRA）. Clam.were exposed.in laboratory cond.tions to caffeine （0.1, 5, 15, 50 μg/L）, ibuprofen （0.1, 5, 10, 50 μg/L）, carbam.zepine and.nov.biocin （both at 0.1, 1, 10, 50 μg/L） for35d.ys. Results show ad.se-d.pend.nt effect of the pharm.ceuticals. The neutral red.retention tim. m.asured.at the end.of the bioassaywas significantly red.ced.by 50% after exposure to env.ronm.ntal concentrations （p 〈 0.05）（caffeine = 15 μg/L; ibuprofen = 10 μg/L; carbam.zepine = 1 μg/L and.nov.biocin = 1 μg/L）, com.ared.to controls. Clam. exposed.to these pharm.ceuticalswere consid.red.to present ad.m.nished.health status （retention tim. 〈45 m.n）, significantlyworse than controls （96 m.n）（p 〈 0.05）. The pred.cted.no env.ronm.ntal effect concentration （PNEC） results showed.that these pharm.ceuticals are v.ry toxic at the env.ronm.ntal concentrations tested. m.asurem.nt of the alteration of Lm. has been found.to be a sensitiv. technique that enables ev.luation of the health status of clam. after exposure to pharm.ceuticals und.r laboratory cond.tions, thus representing a robust Tier-1 screening biom.rker.

We report the expression profile of acyl-lipid.△12-d.saturase （d.sA） gene from.Synechocystis sp. PCC6803 and.its effect on cell m.m.rane lipid.com.osition and.cold.tolerance in prokaryotic （Escherichia coil） and.eukaryotic （Solanum.tuberosum. cells. For this purpose, a hybrid.of d.sA and.reporter gene encod.ng therm.stable lichenase （licBm.） was constructed.and.used.to transform.these cells. The expression of this hybrid.gene was m.asured.using qualitativ. （Petri d.sh test, electrophoregram.and.zym.gram. and.quantitativ. m.thod. （spectrom.try and.gas liquid.chrom.tography assays）. The m.xim.m.lev.l of linoleic acid.in the bacterial cells containing hybrid.gene was 1.9% of total fatty acid.. Cold.stress tolerance assays using plant d.m.ge ind.x and.growth param.ters showed.that cold.tolerance was enhanced.in prim.ry transgenic lines because of increased.unsaturated.fatty acid.concentration in their lipid.. The greatest content of 18：2 and.18：3 fatty acid. in prim.ry transgenic plants was observ.d.for lines 2 （73%） and.3 （41%）. Finally, our results showed.that d.saturase could.enhance tolerance to cold.stress in potato, and.d.saturase and.lichenase retain their functionality in the structure of the hybrid.protein where the enzym.tic activ.ty of target gene prod.ct was higher than in the case of reporter lichenase gene absence in the construction.

The search for new biom.rkers pred.ctiv. of type 2 d.abetes currently constitutes a research av.nue in Bioclinical. Total hom.cysteine rem.ins a preferred.target d.e to its inv.lv.m.nt in the occurrence of d.generativ. com.lications in type 2 d.abetics. The aim.of this work was to stud. hyperhom.cysteinem.a and.other biochem.cal m.rkers associated.with T2d.in the Congolese population. This was an analytical case-control stud. carried.out between October 2022 and.October 2023. The stud. population consisted.of 150 subjects includ.ng 100 T2d.patients and.50 control subjects. The m.in clinical d.ta were collected.on a pre-established.form. Hom.cysteine d.term.nation was carried.out by the sand.ich Elisa m.thod. The other biochem.cal m.rkers were m.asured.by colorim.tric enzym.tic m.thod.. Hyperhom.cysteinem.a was present in 27.3% (41/150) of the entire stud. population. Type 2 d.abetics had.a frequency of hyperhom.cysteinem.a of 36% (36/100) and.control 10% (5/50) (p = 0.001). The m.an hyperhom.cysteinem.a concentration was 31.9 μm.l/l with extrem.s ranging from.18 to 103 μm.l/l. m.ans of biological m.rkers between d.abetics and.controls showed.a statistically significant d.fference (p = 0.01). The risk factors associated.with this HHcy were: sex (OR = 3.5), age (OR = 9.4), sed.ntary lifestyle (OR = 3.4) and.glycosylated.hem.globin (OR = 12) with a p-v.lue v.ly. Our results suggest that hyperhom.cysteinem.a can be consid.red.as a pred.ctiv. biom.rker in the bioclinic of Congolese type 2 d.abetic patients.

The nail plate form. a barrier that lim.ts the effectiv.ness of d.ug d.liv.ry in the treatm.nt of nail d.seases and.prev.nts the outflow of fluid.in the case of subungual hem.tom. form.tion. m.croperforation of the nail plate through laser rad.ation can increase the effectiv.ness of d.ug d.liv.ry and.ensure the possibility of blood.outflow. This stud. d.tected.and.id.ntified.the type and.threshold.of effects that arise from.exposing the nail plate to Yb,Er： Glass （λ = 1.54 μm. and.Er：YLF （λ= 2.81 μm. laser rad.ation. The rate and.efficiency of nail plate ablation by the rad.ation of these lasers were stud.ed. The effect of the storage tim. of a freshly extracted.nail plate in open air on its ablation rate by Er：YLF （ λ=2.81 μm. laser rad.ation was also inv.stigated. The im.act of the Yb,Er：Glass and.Er：YLF laser pulses on the nail plate caused.bleaching, carbonization, ablation with m.crocrater form.tion, and.m.croperforation. The laser energy d.nsities WE （threshold.） required.for these effects were d.term.ned. The m.xim.m.ablation rate for Yb,Er：Glass laser rad.ation was 8 μm.pulse at WE = 91 ±2 J/cm., whereas that for Er：YLF laser rad.ation was 12 μm. pulse at WE= 10.5＋0.5 J/cm.. The m.xim.m.ablation efficiency for Yb,Er：Glass laser rad.ation was 0.1 μm.m. at Ws = 10.5±0.5 J/cm., whereas that for Er：YLF laser rad.ation was 4.6 μm.m. at WE = 5.3±0.3 J/cm.. The laser ablation rate d.pend. on the storage tim. and.cond.tions of the freshly extracted.nail plate. For exam.le, when exposed.to Er：YLF laser rad.ation, the laser ablation rate d.creased.by half from.the initial m.xim.m.v.lue in 96 h of air storage and.returned.to the initial v.lue after 1 h of storage in d.stilled.water.

There is a need.to sim.ltaneously preserv. ev.d.nce of interactions between the biological com.unity and.soil structural properties of a soil in as near an intact （natural） state as possible. Three d.hyd.ation techniques were im.lem.nted.and.assessed.for their ability to m.nim.se d.sruption of both biological and.physical properties of the sam. arable soil sam.le. d.hyd.ation techniques applied.until sam.les were at constant weight were i） air-d.ying at 20℃ （Ad.; ii） -80 ℃ freeze for 24 h, followed.by freeze-d.ying （-80Fd.; and.iii） liquid.nitrogen snap freeze, followed.by freeze-d.ying （LNPd. and.were com.ared.to a m.ist control. Physical structure was d.term.ned.and.quantified.in three d.m.nsions using X-ray com.uted.tom.graphy and.m.crobial phenotypic com.unity com.osition was assessed.using phospholipid.fatty acid.（PLPA） profiling. This stud. confirm. that any form.of d.hyd.ation, when preparing soil for sim.ltaneous biological and.physical analysis, will alter the soil physical properties, and.cause som. change in apparent com.unity structure. Freeze-d.ying （both the LNFd.and.-80Fd.treatm.nts） was found.to m.nim.se d.sruption （when com.ared.to the m.ist control soil） to both the soil physical properties and.the com.unity structure and.is a preferable technique to air-d.ying which m.rked.y alters the size and.character of the pore network, as well as the phenotypic profile. The LNFd.was the preferred.treatm.nt ov.r the -80Fd.treatm.nt as sam.les show low v.riability between replicates and.a fast turn-around.tim. between sam.les. Therefore snap freezing in liquid.nitrogen, followed.by freeze d.ying is the m.st appropriate form.of d.hyd.ation when two sets of d.ta, both physical and.biological, need.to be preserv.d.sim.ltaneously from.a soil core.

Static pressure d.stributions along the blad. surfaces as well as total pressure d.stri- butions in a d.wnstream.tangential plane hav. been m.asured.to ev.luate the ov.rall aerod.nam.c efficiency of the blad. for the d.fferent cond.tions. Particle. Im.ge v.locim.try has been ad.pted.to analyze the tim.-m.an and.tim.-v.rying v.locity field.. The flow field.has been surv.yed.in two orthogonal planes （a blad.-to-blad. plane and.a wall-parallel one）.
