m.ly:Verdana;">Introduction: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a viral infection that was first reported in Wuhan, China on 31 Decem.er 2019. This study aim.d to clarify the epidem.ology and clinical characteristics of 500 first COVID-19 in the Najran region, Saudi Arabia. m.terial and m.thods: A m.lti-center retrospective study design was em.loyed to study the first 500 confirm.d COVID-19 positive cases in Najran province, Kingdom.of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Data were collected from.1 m.rch 2020 until 1 July 2020 and provided by the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) departm.nt from.the hospitals. Included cases were confirm.d using real-tim. reverse transcriptase-polym.rase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Dem.graphic, vital signs, sym.tom., incubation period, travel or exposure history m.dical history, and com.rbidities were collected. Logistic regression analysis was used to explore the association between potential risk factors associated with sym.tom. occurrence of COVID-19. Results: The m.dian age of 500 COVID-19 patients was 31 years;333 (66.6%) m.les. A total of 34 (6.8%) were Healthcare Workers (HCWs). Out of the 500 patients, 180 (36%) had at least one com.rbid disease. The m.st com.on sym.tom. on adm.ssion were fever 281 (56.2%), cough 266 (53.2%), shortness of breath 166 (33.2%), and m.laise 113 (22.6%). m.st of the patients presented with m.ld disease severity 310 (62%). Nationality, age, and Diabetes m.letus (Dm. were independently and significantly associated with being sym.tom.tic (P m.ared to Saudi nationals, other nationality patients were m.st likely to have sym.tom. (m.βm. = 2.968, CI = 2.002 - 4.400, P = 0.0010). For every 1 year increase in age, the risk of being sym.tom.tic increased by 5.8% (m.βm. = 1.045, CI = 1.033 - 1.058, P = 0.001). Com.ared with non-Dm.patients, Dm.patients had a 4.05 tim.s higher risk (m.βm. = 4.05, CI = 2.188 - 7.507, P = 0.0

Intrinsic optical changes that follow infundibular stalk stim.lation of the neurointerm.diate lobe of the m.use pituitary gland exhibit three different phases that reflect three distinct physiological *** first(E-wave)is the rapid light-scattering increase that is associated with a nerve term.nal volum. increase(m.chanical spike),and that accom.anies excitation of the neurohy-pophysial term.nals by the invading action potential;the second(S-wave)is the slower light-scattering decrease that is tightly corelated with the secretion of the peptide horm.nes oxytocin and arginine vasopressin,and the third is the long duration response(R-wave)that reflects cell volum. changes in the pars *** have studied the E-wave and the S-wave in earlier *** R-wave,considered here,is sensitive to chloride replacem.nt as wel as to blockade of chloride *** blocking GABAA reeptors(which are ligand gated chloride channels)with pharrm.cological agents,and by applying GABA directly into the bathing solution,or evoking its release from.GABAergic inputs,we have dem.nstrated that this long-duration optical response is sensitive to chloride m.vem.nts and reflects GABA-induced changes in the intrinsic optical propertis of the pars *** full tim. course of this optical response takes m.m.tes and,therefore,has to em.ody som. other process(or processes)related to the restoration of resting physiological chloride concentrations,following the opening and closing of GABA A-reeptor *** we dem.nstrate that the shape of the R wave,the longlasting light-scattering signal,is indeed affected by the activity of GAT1,one of the *** GA BA transporters.

Celecoxib-induced cholestatic liver failure requiring orthotopic liver transplantation

Selective cyclooxygenase-2 （COX-2） inhibitors are widely used due to their efficacy and good safety profile. However, recent case reports have described varying degrees of liver injudes associated with the use of COX-2 inhibitors. We report the case of a patient who developed acute cholestatic hepatitis progressing to hepatic failure requiring liver transplantation, following a 3-d course of celecoxib for treatm.nt of generalized m.scle aches and pains. The clinical presentation, the laboratory data, as well as the liver histopathology were supportive of the putative diagnosis of drug induced liver injury.

A Contribution to the Epipelic algal Ecology in Lotic Ecosystem.of Iraq

The study was conducted on epipleic diatom. in a lotic ecosystem. The al-Sham.yah River was selected which is a distance from.industrial activities. Four sites along the river were selected for sam.ling during the period from.m.rch 2013 to February 2014. A total of 173 species of epipelic diatom. were identified. The pennate diatom. predom.nated and represented about 92.49% of the total diatom., while centric diatom. form.d only 7.51%. The total num.er of diatom. ranged between 185.1 - 422.34 cell × 104/cm.. Som. of the pennate diatom.species were Achnanthes affinis Grunow, Achnanthes m.ntussim. Küetzing, Cocconeis placentula var. euglypta (Ehr.) Cleve, Cym.ella affinis Küetzing, Diatom. vulgare Bory, Fragilaria capucina Desm.zieres, Gom.honem. angustatum.var. productu Grun., Navicula lanceolata (Ag.) Kuetzing, Navicula radiosa Küetzing, Navicula viridula Küetzing, Nitzschia palea (Kutz.) W. Sm.th,?Nitzschia rom.na Grunow. The physicochem.cal and epipelic algae species indicated that the water quality of the river was clean to m.derate water quality.

Therm.l Decom.osition of Som. Cardiovascular Drugs (Telm.sartane, Cilazapril and Terazosin HCL)

Therm.l analysis of som. antihypertensive drugs, Telm.sartan, Cilazapril and Terazosin HCL was achieved. Therm.gravim.try, derivative therm.gravim.try and differential therm.l analysis were used through the work. Therm.gravim.tric param.ters such as activation energy, frequency factor and reaction order were calculated. The results show the stability value decrease in the order Telm.sartan > Cilazapril > Terazosin. This m.thod can be used in the quality control of pharm.ceutical com.ounds because it is sim.le, fast and cheap.

Organosilicone thin film. have been deposited by plasm. polym.rization(pp)in a plasm. enhanced chem.cal vapor deposition(PECVD)system.using hexam.thyldisilazane(Hm.SN:C_(6)H_(19)Si_(2)N)as a m.nom.r precursor,at different biases of the stainless-steel substrate *** substrate bias affected film.thickness,surface m.rphology,chem.cal com.osition and photolum.nescence(PL)*** a negatively biased substrate,it is found that the film.thickness is the m.nim.m.while the porosity and PL em.ssion are the *** a positively biased substrate,the thickness and the ratio of Si/N are the m.xim.m.which correspond to a blue shift of the PL em.ssion in com.arison with the case of non-biased grounded *** addition,the characterization of the plasm. using a single cylindrical Langm.ir probe has been perform.d to obtain inform.tion about both the electron density and the positive ion energy,where it can be concluded that the ion energy plays a m.jor role in determ.ning film.thickness.
