The no.linear pro.agatio. o. dust-aco.stic (DA) so.itary waves in three-co.po.ent unmagnetized dusty plasma co.sisting o. Maxwellian electro.s, vo.tex-like (trapped) io.s, and arbitrarily charged co.d mo.ile dust grain has been investigated. It has been fo.nd that, o.ing to.the departure fro. the Maxwellian io.s distributio. to.a vo.tex-like o.e, the dynamics o. small but finite amplitude DA waves is go.erned by a no.linear equatio. o. mo.ified Ko.teweg-de Vries (mK-dV) type instead o. K-dV. The reductive perturbatio. metho. has been emplo.ed to.study the basic features (phase speed, amplitude, width, etc.) o. DA so.itary waves which are significantly mo.ified by the presence o. trapped io.s. The implicatio.s o. o.r results in space and labo.ato.y plasmas are briefly discussed.

The advantages o. measuring hepatic o.idative status in liver bio.sy are that it helps in diagno.is o. hepatic dysfunctio., reflects the degree o. deterio.atio. in the liver tissues, and helps to.determine the severity o. hepatic injury. We aimed to.study the o.idative stress state in children with chro.ic hepatitis by using indirect appro.ch in which antio.idant enzymes such as glutathio.e pero.idase (GPX), supero.ide dismutase (So.) and catalase (CAT) are determined in the liver tissue. The present study included 21 children and ado.escents (12 males, 9 females) suffering fro. chro.ic hepatitis. Patients were selected fro. the Hepato.o.y Clinic, New Children’s Ho.pital, Cairo.University fro. No.ember 2006 till 2009 and co.pared with a gro.p o. 7 children who.happened to.have incidental no.mal liver bio.sy. Children with chro.ic hepatitis had mean age 8.12 ± 1.15 years. It was further subdivided into.2 subgro.ps: chro.ic viral heaptitis (n = 13) and crypto.enic hepatitis (n = 8). GPX, So. and CAT levels were measured in fresh liver tissue (cell free ho.o.enates) using ELISA. In chro.ic hepatitis gro.p;there was a significant increase in the hepatic GPX activity (38.59 ± 35.82 nmo./min/ml) as co.pared to.the co.tro. gro.p (10.62 ± 6.68 nmo./min/ml). Also.a significant co.relatio. was o.served between So. and bo.h ALT (r = 0.87, p o.related with ALT (r = 0.80, p o.ic viral hepatitis subgro.p. o.r findings suggest that o.idative stress co.ld play a ro.e in the patho.enesis o. chro.ic hepatitis. These preliminary results are enco.raging to.co.duct mo.e extensive clinical studies co.bining antio.idant therapy with vario.s treatments.
