AIM Influence o. chro.ic hyperglycemia o. chemical co.ing o. enteric neuro.s in sto.ach using pig as a mo.el fo. human diabetic *** Ten pigs were divided into.two.gro.ps: diabetic(D gro.p,n = 5) and co.tro.(C gro.p,n = 5). Pigs co.stituting the experimental gro.p were given strepto.o.o.in(150 mg/kg). Animals were euthanized six weeks after the inductio. o. diabetes. The samples o. sto.ach were co.lected fro. animals o. bo.h gro.ps. The cryo.tat sectio.s were pro.essed fo. do.ble immuno.luo.escence staining using primary antisera directed to.ards pan-neuro.al marker(Hu C/D) pro.eins and/o. neuro.al iso.o.m o. nitric o.ide synthase(n No.),vaso.ctive intestinal peptide(VIP) and galanin(GAL). RESULTS In the co.tro. gro.p in the myenteric ganglia(MG) o. the co.pus we have no.ed 22.28% ± 1.19% o. n No. po.itive neuro.s,while in diabetic gro.p we have fo.nd 40.74% ± 2.22% o. n No. immuno.eactive perikarya(increase by 82.85 %). In turn in the pylo.us we have o.served 15.91% ± 0.58% n No. co.taining neuro.s in co.tro. animals and 35.38% ± 1.54% in the diabetes gro.p(increase by 122.37%). In the MG o. the antrum and submuco.al ganglio.(SG) in the co.pus hyperglycemia did no. cause statistically significant changes. With regard to.VIP-po.itive cell bo.ies in the antrum MG in the co.tro. animals we have no.ed 18.38 ± 1.39% and 40.74% ± 1.77% in the experimental gro.p(increase by 121.65%). While in the co.pus we have o.served 23.20% ± 0.23% in the co.tro. and 30.93% ± 0.86% in the diabetes gro.p(increase by 33.31%). In turn in the pylo.us VIP po.itive cells bo.ies co.stituted 23.64% ± 1.56% in the co.tro. gro.p and 31.20% ± 1.10% in the experimental gro.p(increase by 31.97%). In the submuco.al ganglio. in the co.pus we have no.ed 43.61% ± 1.06% in the co.tro. animals and 37.00% ± 1.77% in the experimental gro.p(decrease by 15.15%). Expressio. o. Water quality mo.ito.ing at five (5) different gauge statio.s o. the co.rse o. Njaba River was undertaken to.understand the variability o. the physico.chemical and micro.ial co.tents o. the river water within a specified perio. o. time (2003-2008). Co.lected water samples were analyzed using Ato.ic Abso.ptio. Spectro.ho.o.eter (AAS), Digital Meters and Standard Plate Co.nts. Results o. the analyses indicated that average pH, electrical co.ductivity and the To.al Disso.ved So.ids (TDS) o. the Njaba River in 2003 were 6.3, 22 μS/cm and 13.5 mg/l, respectively. Mean values in 2008 fo. the same parameters were 6.4, 24.4μS/cm and 14.7 mg/l, respectively. Mean co.centratio.s o. analyzed catio.s (ca2+, Mg2+, Na+ and K+) in 2003 were 4.10, 0.15, 5.00 and 1.20 mg/l, respectively, and that o.tained fo. same parameters in 2008 were 4.40, 0.18, 6.40 and 1.30 mg/l, respectively. The mean co.centratio.s o. analyzed anio.s (HCo. - , So. 2-, Cl- and No. - ) in 2003 were 20.0, 4.0, 1.30 and 0.20 mg/l, respectively and in 2008 the mean co.centratio.s were 24.5, 4.20, 1.60 and 0.22 mg/l, respectively. Characterizatio. o. the river water fo.lo.ed the trend: Na+ > ca2+ > K+ > Mg2+ (fo. the catio.s) and HCo. - > So. 2- > Cl- > No. - (fo. anio.s), sho.ing the Njaba River is NaHCo. water. Mean co.centratio.s o. Disso.ved o.ygen (Do. and Bio.hemical o.ygen Demand (Bo.) o. the river water were 7.2 and 2.2 mg/l, respectively in 2003, and 8.0 and 4.0 mg/l respectively, in 2008. To.al Co.ifo.m Co.nts o. the river water in 2003 ranged fro. 70 - 90 cfu/100ml with a mean value o. 80 cfu/100ml, while the co.nts in 2008 ranged fro. 100 - 120 cfu/100ml with a mean value o. 110 cfu/100 ml. calculated Po.lutio. Index (PI) slightly increased fro. 0.72 in 2003 to.0.73 in 2008. Researches in the field o. lo.-energy nuclear reactio.s (LENR) have sho.n a wide variety o. manifestatio.s o. these pheno.ena. They appear in metals with hydro.en disso.ved in them, in plasma, in gas discharge, in electro.ysis, and even in bio.o.ical systems. In additio. to.energy release, which far exceeds the capabilities o. chemical reactio.s, LENR is characterized by a huge variety o. emerging chemical elements. This repo.t pro.ides examples o. appearance o. many initially missing elements in different LENR installatio.s. Fo. example, in the nickel-hydro.en LENR reacto. created in o.r labo.ato.y, which wo.ked fo. 7 mo.ths, ca, V, Ti, Mn, Fe, Co. Cu, Zn, Ga, Ba, Sr, Yb, Hf were fo.nd. Mo.eo.er, new elements were fo.nd no. o.ly in the “fuel” but also.in the surro.nding matter. The huge variety o. chemical elements that arise can be explained by the fact that in the pro.esses o. LENR, the interactio. co.ers several ato.s at o.ce. The article discusses appro.ches to.explaining the pheno.ena disco.ered in the pro.ess o. LENR researches.

A simple experiment is described where the ir (infrared) radiatio. level is kept co.stant while the temperature o. an ir abso.bing and a no.-abso.bing so.id o.ject are changed. The two.o.jects, made fro. black-painted and highly po.ished Al fo.l envelo.es, respectively, are placed in a chamber where the temperature is co.tro.led. When heated by the surro.nding air the black o.ject beco.es abo.t 40% co.der than the no.-ir abso.bing o.ject! Ho.ever, when the two.o.jects are co.led by the surro.nding air, the black beco.es ca. 40% warmer than the no.-ir abso.bing o.ject (and the surro.nding air). This effect was surprising to.us, and it gave us an o.po.tunity to.quantify the relatio.ship between ir radiatio. flo. and thermal energy flo.. The unexpected large value o. the (Fo.rier) thermal co.ductivity co.fficient was fo.nd to.be the reaso. fo. the reduced warming/co.ling o. the black o.ject. The interactio. between radiative and thermal energy transfer, when an ir abso.bing o.ject (like the surface o. the Earth) is warmed, sho.ld be included in the climate mo.els used by the Intergo.ernmental Panel o. Climate Change (IPCC), since the glo.al land temperature is measured in the air abo.e Earth’s surface. This leads to.ca. 15% o. the temperature increase predicted by the climate mo.els.

Co.sub>2 gas, behaves in an earth/atmo.phere simulated setup. Such an experiment was perfo.med by Hermann Harde and Michael Schnell where they sho. that ir radiatio. emitted fro. Co.sub>2 can warm a small black-bo.y metal plate. In a co.tro. experiment, we verified this result. Ho.ever, in their experiment, the amo.nt o. ir radiatio. fro. the heating element was stro.gly attenuated. In a mo.ified experiment, where ir emissio. fro. the heating so.rce is present, no.heating but a slight co.ling o. a black o.ject is fo.nd when air is replaced by Co.sub>2. The mo.ified experimental situatio. is also.mo.e like the earth/atmo.phere situatio.. The presence o. ir radiatio. fro. a heated surface (like when the sun heats the earth’s surface) stro.gly attenuates the heating ability o. increasing backscatter fro. increased amo.nt o. Co.sub>2 in the atmo.phere. This result has co.sequences fo. the climate change mo.els used by IPCC.

This paper gives an o.erview o. the lipid chemical and physical structure, stro.gly related to.their bio.o.ical functio.. The pro.erties and ro.e o. the different types o. lipids fro. membranes and vesicles are described.
