Objective:To screen the cytotoxic activity of Melasloma malabathricum(M,malubathricum)against human breast carreer cell line(MCf-7)in ***:A three steps extraction protocol using n-hexane,chloroform and methanol as the solvents systems was carried out on leaves,stems and flowers of *** sulfoxide was used in extracts dilution and serial dilutions were conducted to obtain five different extract concentrations(100μg/mL,50μg/mL,25μg/mL,123μg/rnL and 6.25μg/mL).The evaluation of cell growth was determined using methylene blue ***:Methanol extract from the leaves showed significant anticancer activity against MCf-7cell lines with the TC_(50)value of 7.14μg/ml while methanol and chloroform extract from the flowers exhibited a moderate activity towards MCf-7 cell line,with the IC_(50)value of 33.63μg/mL and 45.76μg/mL respectively after 72 h of ***:The extracts from leaves and flowers of *** showed promising anticancer activity toward human breast cancer cell lines with the lowest IC_(50)at 7.14μg/mL while the extracts from stems showed less growth inhibition activity.

The Relationship between Giant Goiter and Operative Complications: A Retrospective Study

Background: Thyroidectomy for giant goiter is a surgical challenge due to distorted and displaced anatomy. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between giant goiter and its operative complications. Material and Methods: A retrospective multicenter study of consecutive patients who had thyroid surgery was conducted, including 639 patients who undergone thyroidectomy in State hospital at Van and Corlu city—Turkey. Seven cases had giant goiter in the patients. Total thyroidectomy was performed all patients. Results: All patients were women. The mean weight of glands removed was 689 gr in giant goiter’s patients. Two operative complications had happened;right site injury of the external branch of the superior laryngeal nerve had happened to one patient;hypocalcemia was happened to another one patient. In those two patients previously were operated partial thyroidectomy. Conclusions: Thyroidectomy for a massively enlarged goiter is technically challenging. The predominant operative complications were related to previously operate and the thyroid gland due to distorted and displaced anatomy. The surgical approach to such cases requires carefully preoperative evaluation and planning. especially, using of intraoperative nerve monitoring is to be useful in these difficult cases which previously had undergone surgery.

A lutetium oxide(Lu_(2)O_(3)) film was proposed and demonstrated for Q-switching operation at 1.55 μm region. It was obtained by solving Lu_(2)O_(3) powder into isopropyl alcohol and mixing the solution into polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) solution to form a composite precursor solution via stirring, sonicating, and centrifuging processes. The thin film was formed through a drop and dry process and a small piece of this film was integrated into erbium-doped fiber laser(eDfL) cavity to modulate the cavity loss via Q-switching mechanism for pulse generation. The Q-switched laser operated at 1 565 nm with the repetition rate of 75.26 k Hz as the pump power was raised to the maximum value of 145.83 m W. The maximum pulse energy of 41.85 n J was recorded at 145.83 m W pump power. The mode-locked pulse operated at 968.5 k Hz with a pulse width of 510 ns was also realized in an extended eDfL cavity. The simple and cost-effective laser should have various applications including material processing, sensing and biomedical areas.

大约80%的结直肠癌病人会发生结肠梗阻,约20%的结直肠癌患者存在急性肠梗阻需要急诊行肠减压治疗。尽管腹腔镜结肠切除术应用不断增长,外科医生对他在结肠切除术中的使用越来越熟悉,但是在结肠癌所致急性肠梗阻的病例中,一方面由于肠管扩张导致没有足够的空间来应用腹腔镜器械切除肿瘤;另一方面由于视野受限,扩张的肠管更容易受到损伤,腹腔镜技术在这样的病例中无法使用。材料与方法:按照纳入和排除标准,本实验收集2013年1月至2016年12月因结直肠癌致急性肠梗阻于我院住院患者29例。22例患者术前放置肠道支架后择期行结肠切除术(10例腹腔镜手术,12例开放手术);7例患者行急诊手术,术中行肠道灌洗。分组如下:(1)SeMS-LAP(n=10),(2)SeMS-OPen(n=12),(3)OPen+LAVAGe(n=7)。我们将SeMS-LAP组与没有放置肠道支架的传统腹腔镜结肠切除术组(4)(n=10)相比较。结果:三组病人之间年龄无统计学差异,SeMS-LAP组(62±12.26 yrs.),SeMS-OPen组(68±11.56 yrs.),OPen+LAVAGe组(65±8.94 yrs.),(p>0.05)。性别、肿瘤位置、伴发疾病等观察指标无统计学差异,p>0.05。在SeMS-LAP组,术中出血量较SeMSOPen组和OPen+LAVAGe组显著减少。SeMS-LAP组中位出血量为50(20,100)毫升,SeMS-OPen组为100(52,100)毫升,OPen+LAVAGe组为100(100,100)毫升;SeMS-LAP组与SeMS-OPen组和OPen+LAVAGe组相比较具有统计学差异,p0.05。SeMS-LAP组淋巴结清扫数目较其他两组高,平均淋巴结清扫数目SeMS-LAP组为19±6.27个,SeMS-OPen组12±2.39个,OPen+LAVAGe组11±9.12个。SeMSLAP组和其他两组比较有统计学差异peMS-LAP组手术时间最长,OPen+LAVAGe组次之,SeMS-OPen组手术时间最短。SeMS-LAP组平均手术时间为275(203,336)分钟,SeMS-OPen组为160(150,176)分钟,OPen+LAVAGe组为260(240,340)分钟,peMS-LAP组和OPen+LAVAGe组比较无统计学差异,p>0.05。SeMS-OPen组和OPen+LAVAGe组病例术后ICU住院时间均为1天,SeMS-LAP组病例未入ICU。SeMS-OPen组平均ICU住院时间为1(0,2)天,OPen+LAVAGe组为1(1,2)天,SeMS-LAP组为0(0,0.25)天。SeMS-LAP组和其他两组相比有统计学差异,peMS-OPen组和OPen+LAVAGe组比较无统计学差异,p>0.05。在肠道功能恢复时间方面,与SeMS-OPen组和OPen+LAVAGe组相比peMS-LAP组恢复时间最短,结果具有统计学差异。SeMS-LAP组平均恢复时间为2.5(2,3)天,SeMS-OPen组为4(3,5)天,OPen+LAVAGe组为4(3,4)天,后两组比较无统计学差异,p>0.05。与其他两组相比,SeMS-LAP组进食时间较早。SeMS-LAP组平均进食时间为4±0.84天,SeMS-OPen组为5±0.89天,OPen+LAVAGe组为6±0.97天。SeMS-LAP组与其他两组相比具有统计学差异,p0.05。SeMSLAP组平均住院时间为15(13.5,22.5)天,SeMS-OPen组为22(17.5,28)天,OPen+LAVAGe组为17(15 35)。SeMS-LAP组与其他两组相比具有统计学差异。最后,我们比较SeMS-LAP组和传统择期腹腔镜结肠切除术组术中和术后指标,包括:eSBL、手术时间、淋巴结清扫数目、ICU住院时间、肠道功能恢复时间、经口进食时间和住院天数;除了经口进食时间外,其他所有数据均无统计学差异,p>0.05。结论:本研究表明,自张式肠道金属支架的应用并没有增加微创腹腔镜结肠切除术的风险,而且与其他两种手术方式相比,自张式肠道金属支架的应用可使患者获益。因此,对于左半结肠癌所致急性肠梗阻的患者,放置肠道支架后行腹腔镜结肠切除术是安全的。这两种微创方法的结合在这种急诊病例处理中是有优势的。与其他可选择的方法相比,SeMS-LAP是更好的选择。与无梗阻的结肠癌行择期腹腔镜结肠切除术的患者相比,放置肠道支架后行腹腔镜结肠切除术结果并无差异。

Objective: To investigate the antioxidant, antibacterial, antimalarial activities and cytotoxicity of the n-hexane, ethyl acetate, n-butanol, and aqueous fractions from a crude extract of Lobophytum ***: This organism was collected from the Selayar Islands(South Sulawesi). The antioxidant activity was performed by the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl radical scavenging method. All fractions from the crude extract of Lobophytum sp. were examined for their cytotoxicity using the brine shrimp lethality bioassay and heme polymerization inhibitory activity assay for antimalarial ***: It was found that the ethyl acetate, n-butanol and aqueous fractions exhibited heme polymerization inhibitory activity with IC_(50) values of 11.7, 14.3 and 12.0 mg/m L,respectively, while the n-butanol fraction showed moderate antioxidant activity and cytotoxicity with IC_(50) values of 150.00 and 92.74 mg/m L, ***: This study provides information on antioxidant, antibacterial and antimalarial activities as well as the cytotoxicity of all fractions from the crude extract of Lobophytum sp. This is a new report of antimalarial substances derived from Lobophytum sp.

Plantago major treatment enhanced innate antioxidant activity in experimental acetaminophen toxicity

Objective: To determine the ef ect of Plantago major(P. major) extract on the liver injury following acetaminophen(APAP) toxicity. Methods: The male Sprague Dawley rats(n = 38) were randomly divided into normal control(n = 6) and experiment(n = 32) groups. The latter was subdivided into four groups and induced with APAP(1 000 mg/kg) per oral, followed by P. major extract and n-acetylcysteine orally to the respective groups for six days. Results: On the seventh day, the serum bilirubin, liver enzymes and tissue malondialdehyde were increased in APAP groups whereas the total protein in serum, tissue superoxide dismutase and glutathione levels were reduced. The plant extract treatment reduced the histological deteriorations such as aggregation of hepatocellular cords, formation of binucleated cells and vacuolisation of the cells with scanty cytoplasm. It also revealed signii cant reduction of malondialdehyde and increased level of superoxide dismutase and glutathione. The i ndings in the extract treated groups were comparable to the group treated with n-acetylcysteine. Conclusions: In conclusion, P. major can enhance innate antioxidant activity and ameliorate the APAP-induced liver injury.

Objective:To determine the anti-breast cancer activities and the safety oral consumption of Dillenia suffruticosa root aqueous extract(DRAe)in BALB/c ***:In the anti-breast cancer study,female BALB/c mice were divided into five groups(n=12),which were(1)positive control(with breast cancer,untreated),(2)negative control(without breast cancer,untreated)and other three groups of mice with breast cancer treated with 1 000,500 and 250 mg/kg of DRAe,respectively,by oral gavage for 28 *** mice except from the negative control group were injected into the mammary fat pad with 4T1 cells(1×1054T1 cells/0.1 m L of phosphate buffer solution).DRAe was administered orally on Day 11 after the tumor has ***:The tumor volume of the 1 000 mg/kg of DRAe group reduced significantly compared to the positive control while treatment with 500 mg/kg of DRAe had significantly inhibited metastasis to the *** the acute toxicity study,treatment with up to5 000 mg/kg of DRAe was not toxic to the animals,indicating its safety when a large amount of this plant extract was *** on the sub-acute toxicity study,treatment of the highest dose of DRAe(1 000 mg/kg)had mild liver toxicity indicated by mild focal ***:DRAe possesses anti-breast cancer properties but at the same time it shows mild toxicity to the *** non observable adverse effect dose for DRAe is500 mg/kg.
