Interferon-gamma(IFN-γ)plays a dual role in cancer;it is both a pro-and an antitumorigenic cytokine,depending on the type of *** deregulation of the IFN-γcanonic pathway is associated with several disorders,including vulner-ability to viral infections,inflammation,and cancer *** particular,the interplay between lung adenocarcinoma(LUAD)and viral infections appears to exist in association with the deregulation of IFN-γ*** this mini-review,we investigated the status of the IFN-γsignaling pathway and the expression level of its components in ***,a reduction in IFNGR1 expression seems to be associated with LUAD progression,affecting defenses against viruses such as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus *** addition,alterations in the expression of IFNGR1 may inhibit the antiproliferative action of IFN-γsignaling in LUAD.

An interrogation sensor system combining the ＂figure-of-eight＂ fiber loop mirror using a single directional 3×3 fiber optic coupler was proposed. One fiber loop mirror was formed by inserting a length of high birefringent optical fiber at the input ports of the 3×3 coupler. Splicing the output ports of the 3×3 coupler between them created the other fiber loop mirror. The introduction of this second loop gave rise to two polarization states of light with the same frequency but different optical phase. The mechanical torsion sensing head was located at the second loop and was exhibited an average modulus torsion sensitivity of 7.9×10^-4 degree/dB. The pygmy marmoset,the smallest of the anthropoid primates,has a broad distribution in Western *** studies using molecular and morphological data have identified two distinct species separated by the Napo and Solimoes-Amazonas ***,reconciling this new biological evidence with current taxonomy,i.e.,two subspecies,Cebuella pygmaea pygmaea(Spix,1823)and Cebuella pygmaea niveiventris(Lönnberg,1940),was problematic given the uncertainty as to whether Spix’s pygmy marmoset(Cebuella pygmaea pygmaea)was collected north or south of the Napo and Solimoes-Amazonas rivers,making it unclear to which of the two newly revealed species the name pygmaea would ***,we present the first molecular data from Spix’s type specimen of Cebuella pygmaea,as well as novel mitochondrial genomes from modern pygmy marmosets sampled near the type locality(Tabatinga)on both sides of the *** these data,we can confirm the correct names of the two species identified,i.e.,*** for animals north of the Napo and Solimoes-Amazonas rivers and *** for animals south of these two *** analyses of the novel genetic data placed into the context of cytochrome b gene sequences from across the range of pygmy marmosets further led us to reevaluate the geographical distribution for the two Cebuella *** dated the split of these two species to 2.54 million years *** discuss additional,more recent,subdivisions within each lineage,as well as potential contact zones between the two species in the headwaters of these rivers.

Aims Litterfall at a global scale is affected by climate,edaphic features and vegetation structure,with litter production increasing from grasslands to forests following the rise in standing ***,at landscape scales,the same relationship between litter production and vegetation structure has rarely been studied and comparisons of litterfall patterns between adjacent,structurally distinct communities are ***,we use a standardized methodology to describe the structural differences among four savanna physiognomies and analyze their relationship with changes in litterfall across the *** We evaluated the woody vegetation structure and composition in 48 sites,equally distributed across four physiognomies and monitored the monthly litter production from April 2014 to march *** Findings Results showed that the density,basal area,cylindrical volume and aboveground biomass of woody vegetation differ among physiognomies,increasing consistently from cerrado ralo,cerrado típico,cerrado denso and cerradã***,we found a strong and positive relationship between aboveground biomass and annual litter production,with litter yield increasing from 0.9 to 8.4 mg ha^(−1)across different physiognomies,following the increment in vegetation *** production was seasonal and similar among vegetation types,increasing during the dry *** comprised the dominant fraction(approx.85%)and litterfall seasonality primarily resulted from the concentration of leaf shedding during dry ***,the temporal pattern of litterfall throughout the year showed a gradual reduction in the seasonality from open to closed vegetation types,likely following the decrease of deciduous species abundance in the plant *** results showed that changes in vegetation structure may affect spatial and temporal litterfall patterns in different physiognomies,which co-occur across the Cerrado landscape,with potential implications for the overall f

Biodiesel production by enzymatic catalysis has been the subject of much research for developing processes that can potentially compete with other types of catalysis. The objective of this study was to investigate the variables that influenced the transesterification of coconut oil catalyzed by immobilized lipase for biodiesel production. A full 24 factorial design with the variables tempera-ture (40°C - 60°C), enzyme concentration (3% - 7%), oil-ethanol ratio (1:6 - 1:10) and alcohol type (methanol-ethanol) was performed. The best conversion result (80.5%) was obtained using ethanol with a higher temperature, molar ratio and enzyme concentration. The obtained yields showed that the results attained with ethanol were more significant when compared with methanol.

This paper considers iterative frequency-domain receivers for block transmission techniques with rate-1 Space Time Block Coding (STBC) for two and four transmit antennas using both Orthogonal Frequency Division multiplexing (OFDm) and Single-Carrier (SC) schemes. The proposed receiver includes an interference canceller which enhances the performance of the non-orthogonal STBC scheme with 4 transmit antennas, allowing performances close to those of orthogonal codes. Our performance results show that combining STBC with block transmission techniques allows excellent performances.

Breaking water-in-oil emulsions during the refining of crude oils is an important step before any upgrading process is *** molecules are incriminated as playing an important role in this *** the mechanisms behind the affinity between them and water is a key step to understand how to break these emulsions more easily and require lower amounts of *** which demulsifier molecule(s)to use is also primordial,but to do so rationally,one needs to know which are the molecular interactions in place between asphaltenes,porphyrins and water so that demulsifiers are chosen to destabilize a specific physical–chemical *** this paper,we study the interactions arising between asphaltenes and porphyrins and six different molecules potentially displaying a demulsification action in the presence of water/oil *** demonstrate that the ionic demulsifier molecules present an interesting potential to either interact strongly with water,replacing asphaltenes in this interaction,or to interact with the active sites of asphaltenes,deactivating them and avoiding any asphaltenic interfacial ***,we also found that although asphaltenes do not migrate spontaneously toward the water/oil interfaces,porphyrins do so rather *** indicates that porphyrins do have an important activity at the water/oil interface.

This article sheds light on how synergies arise through mergers and acquisitions (m&A). Enterprises go through the process of mergers and Acquisitions (m&A) with the goal of improving performance, increasing efficiency and obtaining business synergy. Prior literature suggests that synergies could arise due to taxes, market power or efficiency improvements. This study evaluates the efficiency of m&A in Brazil among publicly-traded companies. We used models with multiple objectives from Goal Programming and Data Envelopment Analysis (GPDEA), employing accounting indicators as input and output variables, and thus evaluated the emergence of synergy gains. These models allow us to analyze and classify the m&A according to the efficiency obtained in such processes. Some of the m&A cases analyzed were mistakenly considered efficient when used traditional models. And, as expected, the GPDEA was proved to be superior to classical models;however it was noticed that few of the cases investigated were proved to be effective. We presented a new application for multi-objective approach that can be used to assess mergers and acquisitions. The dualapplication of GPDEA provided a greater understanding of efficiency generation in synergy creation by means of m&A.
