Toll-like receptor 4 as a possible therapeutic target for delayed brain injuries after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage

Neuroinflammation is a well-recognized consequence of subarachnoid hemorrhage（SAH）, and Toll-like receptor（TLR） 4 may be an important therapeutic target for post-SAH neuroinflammation. Of the TLR family members, TLR4 is expressed in various cell types in the central nervous system, and is unique in that it can signal through both the myeloid differentiation primary-response protein 88-dependent and the toll receptor associated activator of interferon-dependent cascades to coordinate the maximal inflammatory response. TLR4 can be activated by many endogenous ligands having damage-associated molecular patterns including heme and fibrinogen at the rupture of an intracranial aneurysm, and the resultant inflammatory reaction and thereby tissue damages may furthermore activate TLR4. It is widely accepted that the excreted products of TLR4 signaling alter neuronal functions. Previous studies have focused on the pathway through nuclear factor（NF）-κΒ signaling among TLR4 signaling pathways as to the development of early brain injury（EBI） such as neuronal apoptosis and blood-brain barrier disruption, and cerebral vasospasm. However, many findings suggest that both pathways via NF-κΒ and mitogen-activated protein kinases may be involved in EBI and cerebral vasospasm development. To overcome EBI and cerebral vasospasm is important to improve outcomes after SAH, because both EBI and vasopasm are responsible for delayed brain injuries or delayed cerebral ischemia, the most important preventable cause of poor outcomes after SAH. Increasing evidence has shown that TLR4 signaling plays an important role in SAH-induced brain injuries. Better understanding of the roles of TLR4 signaling in SAH will facilitate development of new treatments.

Progress in the treatment of NK-cell lymphoma/leukemia

Natural killer(NK)/T cell lymphoma includes two major subtypes of disease,specifically extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma,nasal type(ENKL)and aggressive NK cell leukemia(ANKL).Both are strongly associated with Epstein Barr virus and are prevalent in East Asia and Latin America.Except for that of limited-stage ENKL,the prognosis of both diseases was poor in the previous decade.The advent of non-anthracycline-based chemoradiotherapy has contributed to an improvement in ENKL prognosis,but there is still room for further treatment progress.Recently,the high efficacy of PD-1 antibody was reported in relapsed or refractory ENKL patients.This was later supported by the finding that PD-L1/PD-L2 genetic alterations are frequently observed in ENKL and ANKL patients.Due to the rarity of the disease,a standard treatment for ANKL remains to be established.Currently,allogeneic stem cell transplantation is the only curative treatment,and this is even applicable to chemo-resistant ANKL patients.In this review,we focus on recent treatment approaches for NK/T cell lymphomas including novel agents.

Bilateral rehabilitation systems with bilateral or unilateral assistive robots have been developed for hemiplegia patients to recover their one-side paralysis.However,the compliant robotic assistance to promote bilateral inter-limb coordination remains a challenge that should be addressed.In this paper,a biomimetic variable stiffness modulation strategy for the Variable Stiffness Actuator(VSA)integrated robotic is proposed to improve bilateral limb coordination and promote bilateral motor skills relearning.An Electromyography(EMG)-driven synergy reference stiffness estimation model of the upper limb elbow joint is developed to reproduce the muscle synergy effect on the affected side limb by independent real-time stiffness control.Additionally,the bilateral impedance control is incorporated for realizing compliant patient-robot interaction.Preliminary experiments were carried out to evaluate the tracking performance and investigate the multiple task intensities’influence on bilateral motor skills relearning.Experimental results evidence the proposed method could enable bilateral motor task skills relearning with wide-range task intensities and further promote bilateral inter-limb coordination.

亚高山的针叶树物种分布在广泛的海拔范围内,因此它们必须具备抵抗严酷自然条件(如高海拔和长期的黑暗)的能力。在日本中部的亚高山地带,两种常绿的针叶树冷杉(Abies veitchii)和马尾冷杉(Abies mariesii)分别在低海拔和高海拔地区占据优势。本研究的目的是探讨叶龄、海拔和光照条件对两个物种叶片形态和生理性状的影响。我们以两种针叶树的幼树为样本,分别在两种针叶树下部(1600米)和上部(2300米)的林下层和冠层间隙中取样,并分析叶龄、海拔和光照条件对冷杉和马尾冷杉的光合作用和叶片性状的影响。研究结果表明,两种针叶树的光合作用和叶片性状对叶龄呈现相似的响应,但其对海拔和光照条件则表现出不同的响应。冷杉最大光合速率与单位叶面积质量和非结构性碳水化合物浓度呈负相关。两种树木的单位叶面积质量在高海拔处均增加,而非结构性碳水化合物浓度仅在冷杉中增加。因此,冷杉的最大光合速率在高海拔时降低。此外,两个物种的最大光合速率均与氮浓度呈正相关。在林下层,叶片氮浓度在冷杉中下降,而在马尾冷杉中上升。在林下条件下,只有马尾冷杉的单位叶面积质量下降、叶绿素-氮比增加,表明在黑暗条件下,马尾冷杉比冷杉有更高的捕光效率。本研究表明,与冷杉相比,马尾冷杉的光合和叶片特性具有更强的耐阴性,光合速率受海拔的影响较小,从而使马尾冷杉在林下植被中生存,并在高海拔地区占据优势。

Moral Falsity in the Eyes of the Superhuman： The Cases of Socrates and Mozi1

Both Socrates and Mozi are said in Plato＇s dialogues and in the Mozi respectively to have claimed that they are living a sort of life following superhuman ＂intention＂： Socrates according to the Delphic oracle, and Mozi the intention of heaven. Some modern philosophers show discomfort with their ＂superstitious＂ attitudes, taking the claims literally as a kind of groundless devotion, while others conjecture ＂sensible＂ purposes to understand the mystic elements as providing moral lessons. This paper, by responding to these modern revisions of their doctrines, aims at highlighting the necessity of their （re-）introductions of superhuman perspectives to their inquiries. Through examining the similarities in Plato＇s and Mohists＇ demonstrations, the suggestion made will be that despite countless incommensurable features, heaven＇s intention for Mohists offers a fundamental philosophical basis which enables them to develop arguments by means of sharp dichotomies, what is right or wrong, in the same way that Socrates in the Apology and in the Hippias Minor does for the development of Plato＇s constructive endeavour beyond his Socratic a/euporetic legacy. Not only are their practices dependent on the presupposition of the existence of a perspective beyond humans, but also the reality of that perspective is established though their own investigative practices.

Literary Activities among the ＂Educated Youth＂： Background on Bei Dao＇s Waves

This paper discusses how the literature was created based on the experiences of the ＂Educated Youth＂ in the reform and opening-up era. Firstly, the author summarizes the network and literary activities of the Educated Youth. Second, he analyzes the poetry of literary magazines that they expressed their own experiences in the reform era, and thirdly, he discusses the trial by the magazine＇s editorial staff to describe their experiences in fiction and its difficulties. Furthermore, this paper examines the origin of Chinese literature on 198os, especially the origin of modernism literature in China.

Uncertainty in solid precipitation and snow depth prediction for Siberia using the Noah and Noah-MP land surface models

In this study, we investigate the uncertainties associated with land surface processes in an ensemble predication context. Specifically, we compare the uncertainties produced by a coupled atmosphere–land modeling system with two different land surface models, the Noah- MP land surface model (LSM) and the Noah LSM, by using the Maximum Likelihood Ensemble Filter (MLEF) data assimilation system as a platform for ensemble prediction. We carried out 24-hour prediction simulations in Siberia with 32 ensemble members beginning at 00:00 UTC on 5 March 2013. We then compared the model prediction uncertainty of snow depth and solid precipitation with observation-based research products and evaluated the standard deviation of the ensemble spread. The prediction skill and ensemble spread exhibited high positive correlation for both LSMs, indicating a realistic uncertainty estimation. The inclusion of a multiple snowlayer model in the Noah-MP LSM was beneficial for reducing the uncertainties of snow depth and snow depth change compared to the Noah LSM, but the uncertainty in daily solid precipitation showed minimal difference between the two LSMs. The impact of LSM choice in reducing temperature uncertainty was limited to surface layers of the atmosphere. In summary, we found that the more sophisticated Noah-MP LSM reduces uncertainties associated with land surface processes compared to the Noah LSM. Thus, using prediction models with improved skill implies improved predictability and greater certainty of prediction.

Change in microstructural characteristics of laser powder bed fused Al–Fe binary alloy at elevated temperature

The present study addressed the change in the microstructure of Al-2.5 wt%Fe binary alloy produced using laser powder bed fusion(L-PBF)technique by thermal exposure at 300℃,and the associated mechanical and thermal properties were systematically examined as well.Multi-semi-cylindrical patterns corresponding to melt pools in the microstructure were macroscopically observed for the asmanufactured sample.No change in the melt-pool morphology was observed after thermal exposure for1000 h.Inside the melt pools,a large number of the nanoscale metastable Al6 Fe phase particles were uniformly distributed inside columnar grains of theα-Al matrix containing concentrated solute Fe in supersaturation.The sequential formation and coarsening of stableθ-Al13 Fe4 phases were observed upon exposure to a 300℃ environment,but a considerable amount of nano-sized metastable Al6 Fe phases remained even after 1000 h.Furthermore,the thermal exposure continuously reduced the concentration of solute Fe atoms in theα-Al matrix.No significant grain growth was found inα-Al matrix after 1000 h owing to the pinning effect of the dispersed fine particles on grain boundary migration.These results demonstrate a sluggish change in microstructural morphologies of the Al-2.5 wt%Fe alloy.The quantified microstructural parameters addressed dominant strengthening contributions by the solid solution of Fe element and Orowan strengthening mechanism by fine Al-Fe intermetallics in the L-PBF-produced alloy.The high strength level was sustained even after being exposed to 300℃ for long periods.The superior balance of mechanical properties and thermal conductivity can be achieved in the experimental alloys by taking advantage of the various microstructural parameters related to the Al-Fe intermetallic phases andα-Al matrix.

Degradative solvent extraction of subbituminous coal with deep eutectic solvent and effect of reaction conditions on products

A degradative solvent extraction method for upgrading low-rank coal was performed at 200-350◦C for 90 min to obtain a substance dissolved in the solvent at room temperature(Soluble).Because the resulting mixture exhibited a high carbon content without ash,it could be readily used as a fuel.Furthermore,deep eutectic solvents(DESs)have attracted attention for improving the Soluble yield and decreasing the oxygen content in Soluble.DES is known to cleave oxygen-containing functional groups in biomass and is considered effective for deoxidizing low-rank coal.Herein,DES was prepared by mixing choline chloride,FeCl3⋅6H2O,and Adaro subbituminous coal(AD)and then added to 1-methylnaphthalene(1-MN)in a non-polar solvent,followed by degradative solvent extraction in the range of 200-350◦C.The effects of reaction temperature and added DES amount on the product yield and the composition were evaluated.As the reaction temperature and amount of DES added increased,the Soluble yield and carbon content increased.It was also found that the thermal decomposition temperature and oxygen content decreased with the increasing DES amounts.This decrease indicates that DES promotes the deoxygenation and decomposition of AD and increases the soluble yield of the fuel source.

称谓语在日常交往和人际关系中起着至关重要的作用。称谓语有利于交际的顺利展开,但有时也会引起误解,无意间伤害了对方的感情,阻碍进一步的交流。随着社会的飞速发展,“亲”、“网民”等新称谓语通过网络应运而生,并已渗透到社会的方方面面。新称谓语能够深刻地反映出当代社会的热点、现象及人们的价值观等,而且与传统称谓语有着不同的意义。新称谓语是交际语言中不可或缺的一部分,也是了解当代中国社会的重要途经之一,因此新称谓语理应在对外汉语教学中获得一定程度的关注。近一二十年来线上交际日益发达,尤其因为新冠病毒的全球流行而愈发加深了这种交际方式的发展趋势。在网络空间,交际双方并不像在现实社会中那样面对面地参与沟通。在这种情况下,使用具有趣味性和时代性的新称谓语可以促进人际交往并拉近人际关系。因此,对外汉语中新称谓语教学的意义变得更加突出。目前,针对汉语新称谓语的研究、以及对外汉语的称谓教学研究已取得了一些成果,但是对外汉语方面的新称谓语教学研究却并不多见。因此,本文对汉语新称谓语进行了概括和梳理,采用针对性的问卷调查和访谈的研究方法,试图了解日本汉语学习者对新称谓语的认知和使用状况,并分别分析日本汉语学习者的各种属性对新称谓语的认知度和使用率的影响、以及对新称谓语的认知和使用态度等。根据本次调查结果,我们发现:一、日本学习者的每个因素条件都正面影响着他们对新称谓语的认知度和使用率;二、在认知度方面,日本学习者的汉语水平与在中国生活的时间长短有关,而且日本学习者的母语背景也起到了一定的作用;三、在使用率方面,日本学习者的网络社交媒体的使用情况和与中国朋友的交流程度息息相关;四、日本学习者普遍对新称谓语的认知和使用保持着积极的态度。最后,基于调查结果,我们也提出了相应的教学思考和建议。
