New insights into petrogenesis of Miocene magmatism associated with porphyry copper deposits of the Andean Pampean flat slab,Argentina

The Paramillos de Uspallata mining district located in the backarc region of the Pampean flat-slab segment(28°-33°S) features porphyry-type deposits genetically associated with Middle Miocene volcanics. This mineralizing magmatism comprising hydrothermally altered(sodic-calcic, potassic and phyllic alteration) subvolcanic and pyroclastic rocks of andesite-basaltic andesite and dacite-rhyolite composition with a typical arc signature, represents the eastward broadening of the Farellones arc by ~17 Ma. Its geochemistry also reveals a residual mineralogy of amphibole ± garnet with limited plagioclase fractionation resulting in an adakitic signal; however, according to the isotopic data collected in our study, the contributions of MASH(melting-assimilation-storage-homogenization) processes in the acquisition of this signal cannot be *** the broadening of the Farellones arc and its residual mineralogy e typical of relatively deep magmatic chambers e are consistent with a slab shallowing and outcoming crustal thickening *** tectonic scenario could be interpreted as a result of an early effect of the Juan Fernandez Ridge collision that was further to the north by ~17 Ma. Our findings suggest that magmas were fertile for porphyry type deposits during the early stages of the slab shallowing.

Acute effects of partial-body vibration in sitting position

AIM To investigate the acute effects of sinusoidal and stochastic resonance partial-body vibration in sitting position, including muscle activity, heart rate variability, balance and *** Fifty healthy participants were assigned randomly to two training conditions: A sinusoidal partial-body vibration(SIN, 8 Hz) or a stochastic resonance partial-body vibration(STOCH, 8 ± 2 Hz). For baseline assessment participants sat on the vibration platform without vibration. Both training conditions consisted of five series of a one-minute vibration training and a one-minutebreak between them. In this experimental study surface electromyography(eMG) of the erector spinae(eS), one of the back muscles, and heart rate variability(HRV) was measured at baseline and during training. Balance and flexibility were assessed at baseline and immediately after training. Balance was measured with the modified star excursion balance test(mS eBT) and flexibility was assessed through the modified fingertip-to-floor method(mF TF).ReSULTS Paired sample t-test showed a significant increase in balance that was restricted to STOCH(t =-2.22, P = 0.018; SIN: t =-0.09, P = 0.466). An increase in flexibility was also restricted to STOCH(t = 2.65, P = 0.007; SIN: t = 1.41, P = 0.086). There was no significant change of muscle activity in the eS-eMG in STOCH or SIN conditions. In both training conditions, HRV decreased significantly, but remained in a low-load range(STOCH: t = 2.89, P = 0.004; SIN: t = 2.55, P = 0.009).CONCLUSION In sitting position, stochastic resonance partial-body vibration can improve balance and flexibility while cardiovascular load is low. STOCH can be a valuable training option to people who are unable to stand(e.g., people, who are temporarily wheelchair-bound).

In Sidi Chennane deposits (Morocco), the phosphatic series is composed of regular interbedded phosphatic and marly limestone layers. exploitation of the phosphate in these deposits collides frequently with problems bound to the existence, in this series, of sterile bodies qualified as derangements. They cause two kinds of problems: 1) as they are hard, compact and masked by a Quaternary cover, they disturb the exploitation in some yards and give bad reserve calculation;2) even the use of wells and mechanical boreholes did not evidence their delimitation. Our study shows that these bodies can be detected and delimited using ground penetrating radar and electrical resistivity tomography methods. It is based on the acquisition and the interpretation of series tests using these methods carried out above visible sterile bodies in a trench of exploitation in order to have geologically valid information. The article concerns to the analysis of the results and of the proceeding for a possible large geophysics survey.

Nutritional Status of Children with Intestinal Parasites from a Tropical Area of Bolivia,emphasis on Zinc and Iron Status

Malnutrition and parasitic diseases are within the major issues in rural areas in developing countries. In this study, the nutritional status, dietary intake including mineral absorption inhibitor (phytate), hematological indicators and trace element status (zinc, iron) were evaluated and associated to the presence of intestinal parasites in a group of children from a rural area of Bolivia. The results showed that 96% of the children had intestinal parasites;7 types of parasites (Ascaris lumbricoides, Giardia lamblia, Ancylostoma duodenale, entamoeba histolytica, entamoeba coli, Trichuris trichiura, Strongyloides stercolaris) were identified. Anthropometric measurements indicated that 37% of the children were stunted and 17% were underweight. Iron and zinc intake showed that 34% and 30% of children had inadequate intake of these nutrients respectively. Phytate: zinc molar ratios were between 6.5 and 21, and from 6.2 to 15 for phytate: iron, indicating that the absorption of zinc and iron might be compromised by the level of phytate in the diet. The serum zinc was below the lower cut-off in 87% of the children, indicating zinc deficiency. Moreover, a multiple regression model showed the significant effect of the presence of the parasite Giardia lamblia and phytate intake on the serum zinc levels. Regarding the iron status, 30% of the children presented with anemia and about 66% had iron deficiency;a simple linear regression model showed the significant negative effect of the presence of the parasite Ancylostoma duodenale on iron status. In conclusion, the levels of zinc and iron, which were low in this child population, were greatly affected by the presence of intestinal parasites;in addition, the consumption of plant-based diets with high levels of phytate also impaired the zinc absorption.

environmental Approach for energy Audits on Government Buildings: A Mexican Case for the Air Conditioning System

In the face of the climate change, energy consumption is one of the main issues to be solved. energy audits are useful tools that may contribute to develop energy efficiency initiatives. The purpose of this paper is to provide insights into how energy audits, with a scope on air conditioning (AC) systems, contribute to develop energy efficiency options for a government building in the city of Hermosillo, Mexico. The methodology is based in the energy audit framework proposed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning engineers (ASHRAe). Results show that, in a typical day of maximum consumption, AC represents 64% of the total electrical consumption, while office equipment accounted for 22%, and lighting 14%. Additionally, AC system has a yearly consumption of 54,419.40 kWh with an emission estimate of 24.92 tons of CO2-eq/year. Three approaches for energy efficiency proposals were addressed through AC systems: Improvement of the operation and consumption habits, maintenance and reconditioning of facilities, and replacement of AC units. While Mexico has international commitments through environmental treaties related to contribute to climate change mitigation, this study shows that, at least one government building still produces potential impacts that can be deterred by addressing structural and behavioral changes related to AC operation. Finally, this study may be used as reference for energy efficiency practitioners or decision-making authorities in the public administration field for developing better energy policies for government buildings.

There is increasing evidence that pathogens do not only elicit direct defense responses, but also cause pronounced changes in primary carbohydrate metabolism. Cell-wall-bound invertases belong to the key regulators of carbohydrate partitioning and source-sink relations. Whereas studies have focused so far only on the transcriptional induction of invertase genes in response to pathogen infection, the role of post-translational regulation of invertase activity has been neglected and was the focus of the present study. expression analyses revealed that the high mRNA level of one out of three proteinaceous invertase inhibitors in source leaves of Arabidopsis thaliana is strongly repressed upon infection by a virulent strain of Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato DC3000. This repression is paralleled by a decrease in invertase inhibitor activity. The physiological role of this regulatory mechanism is revealed by the finding that in situ invertase activity was detectable only upon infection by P. syringae. In contrast, a high invertase activity could be measured in vitro in crude and cell wall extracts prepared from both infected and non-infected leaves. The discrepancy between the in situ and in vitro invertase activity of control leaves and the high in situ invertase activity in infected leaves can be explained by the pathogen-dependent repression of invertase inhibitor expression and a concomitant reduction in invertase inhibitor activity. The functional importance of the release of invertase from post-translational inhibition for the defense response was substantiated by the application of the competitive chemical invertase inhibitor acarbose. Posttranslational inhibition of extracellular invertase activity by infiltration of acarbose in leaves was shown to increase the susceptibility to P. syringae. One of the biggest challenges for organizations, cities and countries is waste management. Currently, 1.3 million tons of solid wastes are generated in the cities and by 2025 it is estimated that this volume will increase up to 2.2 billion tons. Considering this, it is clear that strategies for the reduction of waste generation are needed. In order to achieve this arduous and critic task changes in education, culture and public policy are required and one of the strategies that emerge as one of the most effective is the “zero waste” programs. This paper shows the foundation of a zero waste program based on previous and successful experiences in institutions of higher education. It presents the characterization and quantification of waste, as well as the valorization of it and potential environmental and economic benefits of the implementation of this kind of programs in higher education institutions. Results show that reduction and valorization of waste generation is possible in academic sectors while other outcomes emerge, such as the generation of human capital for the implementation of this kind of programs in different sectors of society and, in that way, contribute in the transition towards sustainable development.

已有研究表明电子口碑对消费者购买决策具有积极影响。根据AJzen(1991)计划行为理论,在线购买一个产品的行为意图可通过三因素预测:即行为态度、主观规范、自我效能。研究表明,脸书电子口碑对在线消费者的购买行为产生了影响。因此,如果有人发现他的脸谱网的好友在脸谱网上喜欢或者推荐某个产品/品牌,他或她很有可能会购买那个品牌的产品,或者仍然买另一个品牌。该研究报告是对分布在比利时的10个省份的脸谱网专页进行了调查。共有389名受访者参与了调查,其中377人居住在比利时。居住在比利时的377名受访者中,有211名女性,166名男性。受访者接到的调查任务是从1到7项来选择他们是否同意调查表上具体的陈述。调查结果显示,脸谱网的推荐品牌或者脸谱网好友所喜爱的品牌,对消费者的行为态度、认知和购买意图起到了积极影响。脸谱网的推荐使得消费者更喜欢某种产品,认为这种产品具有优良的品质,他们很可能会购买这种产品。网上电子口碑对消费者的认知的影响是非常明显的。他们会更相信产品的质量,最后很可能会购买这种产品。主观规范似乎对在线消费者的行为具有很大的影响,这意味着营销人员应该经常核对消费者在脸谱网推荐他们的产品或品牌的次数,还要核对他们关于产品的描述。因此,营销人员可以用这份推荐的内容放在他们的网店上。最终,社会认同将为他们工作。

Intact cognitive abilities are fundamental for driving. Driving-relevant cognition may be affected in older drivers due to aging or cognitive impairment. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of cognitive impairment on driving-relevant cognition in older persons. Performance in selective and divided attention, eye-hand-coordination, executive functions and the ability to regulate distance and speed of 18 older persons with CI-Group （cognitive impairment group） was compared to performance of older control group （18 age and gender-matched cognitively normal subjects） and young control group （18 gender-matched young subjects）. The CI-Group showed poorer performance than the other two control groups in all cognitive tasks （significance level （p）〈 0.001, effect size （partial r/e） = 0.63）. Differences between cognitively impaired and cognitively normal subjects were still significant after controlling for age （effect sizes from 0.14 to 0.28）. Dual tasking affected performance of cognitively impaired subjects more than performance of the other two groups （p = 0.016, partial η2 = 0.14）. Results show that cognitive impairment has age-independent detrimental effects on selective and divided attention, eye-hand-coordination, executive functions and the ability to regulate distance and speed. Largest effect sizes are found for reaction times in attention tasks.

BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) represents the sixteenth most frequent cancer in Argentina. The rise of new therapeutic modalities in intermediate-advanced HCC opens up a new paradigm for the treatment of *** To describe real-life treatments performed in patients with intermediateadvanced HCC before the approval of new systemic *** This longitudinal observational cohort study was conducted between 2009 and2016 in 14 different regional hospitals from Argentina. Included subjects had intermediate-advanced Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer(BCLC) HCC stages(BCLC B to D). Primary end point analyzed was survival, which was assessed for each BCLC stage from the date of treatment until last patient follow-up or *** Meier survival curves and Cox regression analysis were performed, with hazard ratios(HR) calculations and 95% confidence intervals(95%CI).ReSULTS From 327 HCC patients, 41% were BCLC stage B, 20% stage C and 39% stage *** median survival were 15 mo(IQR 5-26 mo), 5 mo(IQR 2-13 mo)and 3 mo(IQR 1-13 mo)(P espectively. Among BCLC-B patients(n =135), 57% received TACe with a median number of 2 sessions(IQR 1-3 sessions).Survival was significantly better in BCLC-B patients treated with TACe HR =0.29(CI: 0.21-0.40) than those without TACe. After tumor reassessment by ReCIST 1.1 criteria following the first TACe, patients with complete response achieved longer survival (HR = 0.15(CI: 0.04-0.56, P = 0.005))eighty-two patients were treated with sorafenib, mostly BCLC-B and C(87.8%). However,12.2% were BCLC-D. Median survival with sorafenib was 4.5 mo(IQR 2.3-11.7 mo);which was lower among BCLC-D patients 3.2 mo(IQR 2.0-14.1 mo). A total of 36 BCLC-B patients presented tumor progression after TACe. In these patients,treatment with sorafenib presented better survival when compared to those patients who received sorafenib without prior TACe [HR = 0.26(CI: 0.09-0.71);P= 0.013].CONCLUSION In this real setting, our results we
