Emerging viruses are viruses whose occurrence has risen within the past twenty years,or whose presence is likely to increase in the near *** caused by emerging viruses are a major threat to global public *** spite of greater awareness of safety and containment procedures,the handling of pathogenic viruses remains a likely source of infection,and morta.ity,among laboratory *** is a steady increase in both the number of laboratories and scientist handling emerging viruses for diagnostics and *** potential for harm associated to work with these infectious agents can be minimized through the applica.ion of sound biosafety concepts and *** main factors to the prevention of laboratory-acquired infection are well-trained personnel who are knowledgable and biohazard aware,who are perceptive of the va.ious ways of transmission,and who are professional in safe laboratory practice *** addition,we should empha.ize that appropriate fa.ilities,practices and procedures are to be used by the laboratory workers for the handling of emerging viruses in a safe and secure *** review is aimed at providing researchers and laboratory personnel with ba.ic biosafety principles to protect themselves from exposure to emerging viruses while working in the *** paper focuses on what emerging viruses are,why emerging viruses can cause laboratory-acquired infection,how to assess the risk of working with emerging viruses,and how laboratory-acquired infection can be *** measures used in the laboratory designed as such that they protect workers from emerging viruses and safeguard the public through the safe disposal of infectious wastes are also addressed.

Arctic sea.ice extent: No record minimum in 2023 or recent years

Arctic sea.ice extent reaches its minimum each year in September. On 11 September 2023 the minimum was 4.969 million square kilometers(***^(2)). This was not a record low, which occurred in 2012, when the minimum was 4.175 ***^(2), 0.794 ***^(2) less than the minimum in 2023. However, the ice extent had decreased by 0.432 ***^(2) compared with 2022. Nevertheless, the summer melting in 2023 was remarkably less than expected when considering the strong heat waves in the atmosphere and ocean, with record temperatures set around the world. in general, there is a high correla.ion between the long-term decrease in sea.ice extent and the increa.ing CO_(2) in the atmosphere, where the increase of CO_(2) in recent decades explains about 80% of the decrease in sea.ice in September, while the remainder is caused by natural va.ia.ility.

Primary explosives are utilized as a reliable initiator for secondary explosives in an extensive range of military and civilian opera.ions. Heavy-metal-based primary explosives are moderate performing, more sensitive, and environmentally hazardous, posing a direct and indirect threat to health and ***, heavy-metal-based prima.ies have been replaced by environment-friendly metal-based primary explosives, such as potassium complexes. This review presents not only a summary of the current progress of new-genera.ion potassium-based primary explosives and their methods of prepara.ion, energetic properties, and applica.ions, but also a further compa.ison with tra.itional primary explosives. in addition, this work discusses the necessity of heavy metal-free primary explosives and the major challenges faced in repla.ing tra.itional primary explosives.

The study on nuclear level density of some deformed Dy ra.ionuclides using collective model approach

Nuclear level density(NLD) is a characteristic property of many-body quantum mecha.ical *** are of special importance to make sta.istical calcula.ions in reactor studies and va.ious theoretical and experimental nuclear physics and engineering *** this study,we have investigated a set of particle states in distinct rota.ional and vibra.ional bands to calculate nuclear level density parameters and the NLDs of accessible states of some deformed Dy ra.ionuclides using a collective model approach,which included different excita.ion bands of the observed nuclear *** method used assumes equidistant spa.ing of collective coupled state bands of the considered *** results of the calculated NLD have been compared with the experimental and compiled data obtained by the Oslo group,shell model Monte Carlo,Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov + combinatorial approach,Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer approach and are in a good agreement.

Nuclea.ion and growth beha.ior of coa.ing film on Mg–Al–Zn alloy with different surface topographies via plasma electrolytic oxida.ion

This work was made to investigate how nuclea.ion and growth beha.ior of the coa.ing film were affected by surface topographies of Mg–Al–Zn alloy substrate during the initial stage of plasma electrolytic oxida.ion(PEO).To sa.isfy this end,a single substrate was prepared by mecha.ical treatment exhibiting rough and smooth regions with an equal area on the *** rough region with prominent hills and grooves induced the breakdown of passive film,which was indicated by an early appearance of plasma discharge on the rough region since nuclea.ion of coa.ing film occurred preferentially around the ***,the coa.ing film grown on the grooves was somewhat thicker and more porous than the film grown on the hills and smooth *** was due to the fact that the growth of the coa.ing film was found to be loca.ized in the presence of rough region,which was in line with the discharge ***,the nuclea.ion and growth beha.ior during the initial stage of PEO will be discussed schema.ically on the ba.is of microstructural interpreta.ion.

Objective:To determine the proportion of HBV surface antigen(anti-HBs)antibody positive children under five years of age born to HBs Ag-nega.ive mothers and to analyze the possible related factors following implementa.ion of a hepa.itis B vaccina.ion program for infants in indonesia 22 years ***:Blood samples were taken from children under five years of age born to HBsAg-nega.ive mothers who have completed primary vaccina.ion ***-HBs antibodies were determined by using ra.id *** of age,gender,nutritional status,vaccina.ion timing or vaccina.ion compliance,and booster vaccina.ion were collected from vaccina.ion ***:Ninety children were enrolled,consisting of 47 females and 43 males with a mean age of 2.3 *** two(24.4%)children received booster vaccine between 18 and 24 months and 55(61.1%)were anti-HBs *** factors of age,gender,nutritional status,compliance to vaccina.ion and booster vaccine,only administra.ion of booster vaccine was significantly associated with anti-HBs status(OR 5.45,95%Ci 1.45,20.52).Children who received booster vaccine at age of 18-24 months were 5.45 times more likely to be anti-HBs positive than that of children who did not receive booster ***:Booster vaccine rate is low among children under 5 years of age but is associated with anti-HBs *** vaccina.ion may be required to improve anti-HBs seropositivity.

Heterocyclic skeleton(Azoles)and different energetic groups containing high performing explosives are highly emerged in recent years to meet the challenging requirements of energetic materials in both military and civilian applica.ions with improved *** this purpose tetrazole(Azole)is identified as an attractive heterocyclic backbone with energetic functional groups nitro(-NO_(2)),nitrato(-ONO_(2)),nitrimino(-NNO_(2)),and nitra.ino(eNHeNO_(2))to replace the tra.itionally used high performing *** tetrazole based compounds ha.ing these energetic functional groups demonstrated advanced energetic performance(detona.ion velocity and pressure),densities,and heat of forma.ion(HOF)and became a potential replacement of tra.itional energetic compounds such as *** review presents a summary of the recently reported nitro-tetrazole energetic compounds containing poly-nitro,di/mono-nitro,nitrato/nitra.ino/nitrimino,bridged/bis/di tetrazole and nitro functional groups,describing their prepara.ion methods,advance energetic properties,and further applica.ions as highperforming explosives,especially those reported in the last *** review aims to provide a fresh concept for designing nitro-tetrazole based high performing explosives together with major challenges and perspectives.

Tuning the reactivity of TiO_(2)layer with uniform distribution of Sub-5 nm Fe_(2)O_(3)particles via.in situ voltage-assisted oxida.ion for robust catalytic reduction

The trade-off between efficiency and sta.ility has limited the applica.ion of TiO_(2)as a catalyst due to its poor surface ***,we present a modifica.ion of a TiO_(2)layer with highly stable Sub-5 nm Fe_(2)O_(3)nanoparticles(NP)by modula.ing its structure-surface reactivity rela.ionship to attain efficiency-sta.ility balance via a voltage-assisted oxida.ion *** situ simultaneous oxida.ion of the Ti substrate and Fe precursor using high-energy plasma driven by high voltage resulted in uniform distribution of Fe_(2)O_(3)NP embedded within porous TiO_(2)*** surface characteriza.ions with density functional theory demonstrated an improved electronic transition in TiO_(2)due to the presence of surface defects from reactive oxygen species and possible charge transfer from Ti to Fe;it also unexpectedly increased the active site in the TiO_(2)layer due to uncoordinated electrons in Sub-5 nm Fe_(2)O_(3)NP/TiO_(2)catalyst,thereby enhancing the adsorption of chemical functional groups on the *** unique embedded structure exhibited remarkable improvement in reducing 4-nitrophenol to 4-a.inophenol,achieving approximately 99%efficiency in 20 min without sta.ility decay after 20 consecutive cycles,outperforming previously reported TiO_(2)-based *** finding proposes a modified-electrochemical strategy enabling fa.ile construction of TiO_(2)with nanoscale oxides extandable to other metal oxide systems.

Extending normal gamma and normal inverse Gaussian models,multiva.iate normal stable Tweedie(NST)models are composed by a fixed univa.iate stable Tweedie va.iable ha.ing a positive value domain,and the remaining random va.iables given the fixed one are real independent Gaussian va.iables with the same va.iance equal to the fixed *** the framework of multiva.iate exponential fa.ilies,the NST models are recently classified by their cova.iance matrices V(m)depending on the mean vector *** this paper,we prove the characteriza.ion of all the NST models through their determinants of V(m),also called genera.ized va.iance functions,which are power of only one component of *** result is established under the NST assumptions of Monge-Ampere property and *** completes the two special cases of NST,namely normal Poisson and normal gamma *** a matter of fact,it provides explicit solutions of particular Monge-Ampere equa.ions in differential geometry.
