The synthesis and in vitro antifungal activity of some Schiff bases and their Sn (Ⅳ) complexes has been tested against plant pathogenic fungi and it is found that they possess excellent fungicidal activity. On the basis of ^1h-, ^13C-,^119Sn NMR-, ^119Sn Mǒssbauer, IR and Elemental analysis the tetrahedral geometry is proposed for the synthesized compounds.

Biochar has potentials for soil fertility improvement, climate change mitigation and environmental reclamation, and charred biomass can be deliberately incorporated into soil for long-term carbon stabilization and soil amendment. Many different methods have been used for biochar production ranging from laboratory to industrial scales. however, in countryside of developing countries, biomass is generally used for cooking but not charred. Biochar production techniques at farmer scale have remained poorly developed. We developed and tested biochar production kilns for farmers with a dimension of 50.8 cm × 38.1 cm （height × diameter）, using three different setups for optimizing oxygen （02） limitation and syngas circulation： airtight with no syngas circulation （Model I）, semi-airtight with external syngas circulation （Model II） and semi-airtight with internal syngas circulation （Model III）. A comparative assessment of these biochar production kiln models was made considering biochar pyrolysis time, fuel to biomass ratio, biochar to feedstock ratio and thermogravimetric index （TGI）. Among the models, the best quality biochar （TGI ---- 0.15） was obtained from Model I kiln taking the longest time for pyrolysis （12.5 h） and the highest amount of fuel wood （1.22 kg kg-1 biomass）. Model III kiln produced comparatively good quality biochar （TGI = 0.11）, but with less fuel wood requirement （0.33 kg kg-1 biomass） and shorter pyrolysis time （8.5 h）. We also tested Model III kiln in a three times larger size under two situations （steel kiln and pit kiln）. The biochar to feedstock ratio （0.38） and quality （TGI =0.14） increased slightly for the larger kilns. Quality of biochar was found to be mainly related to pyrolysis time. The costs for the biochar stove and pit kiln were US$ 65-77, while it was US$ 154 for the large size steel kiln. Model III kiln can potentially be used for both cooking and biochar production at farmer scale.

It has previously been shown that Dendrostellera lessertii（Thymelaeaceae）has stronganticancer *** this study,the antileukemic activity of another new compound from the same plantextract is ***（NB4 and hL-60）and erythroleukemia（K562）cells were cultured in thepresence of various concentrations of the new compound（0.5-3.0 μtg/ml）for *** cell numbers werethen determined by trypan blue exclusion *** new compound inhibited growth and proliferation ofNB4,hL-60 and K562 with IC50values of 1.5,2.0 and 2.5μg/ml,*** also found that the newcompound inhibited cell proliferation in a dose-and time-dependent *** low concentrations and after48h of treatment,approximately 50%-70% of NB4 and hL-60 cells were differentiated to monocyte/macrophage lineage and approximately 30%-40% of the treated K562 cells were differentiated in the mega-karyocytic lineage,as evidenced by morphological changes and nitro blue tetrazolium reduction *** of hoechst 33258 staining also indicated that the new compound induced NB4 and hL-60 cellapoptosis at their respective IC50values after 72h of *** on the present data,the new com-pound seems a good candidate for further evaluation as an effective chemotherapeutic agent acting throughinduction of differentiation and apoptosis.

Five triorganotin（IV）（1-5） complexes of cinnamic acid, （Z）-2-acetamido-3-phenylacrylic acid, 3-methylbut-2-enoic acid, and 2,2-diphenylacetic acid have been synthesized and characterized by Ih-13C-119Sn NMR, UV, and IR. The spectroscopic investigation demonstrated that the carboxylate group acts as a monodentate ligand in triorganotin（IV） compounds. Five triorganotin（IV） complexes were screened against the log phase culture of Mycobacterium tuberculosis h37Rv by colorimetric method using XTT dye as growth indicator. The MICs were found to he 0.08 and 1.25μg/mL.

Introduction: There are extensive people exposures to paraquat (PQ) herbicide resulting in human health hazards. Aim of the Work: To compare the beneficial neuroprotective effects of hesperidin and benfotiamine on paraquat (PQ)-induced spinal cord neurotoxic effects in rats. Materials and Methods: Rats were divided into 4 groups as following: control, paraquat (PQ 20.8 mg/kg, oral gavage (e.g.)), paraquat + benfotiamine (50 mg/kg, oral gavage (e.g.)) and paraquat + hesperidin (40 mg/kg, oral gavage (e.g.)). PQ is given as the previous dose. Rats are treated 6 days per week. Results: There was a significant increased mean value of malondialdehyde associated with a significant reduction in the content of reduced glutathione and antioxidant enzymes activities associated with a significant increase in Serum phosphorylated neurofilament-h, neurospecific enolase and s100 levels were recorded and significant spinal cord histopathological changes in paraquat treated group as compared to their corresponding values in the control group and immunohistochemical examination confirmed these results. Upon supplementation with benfotiamine and hesperidin to paraquat treated rats, there was a significant decrease in the mean values of malondialdehyde associated with a marked increase in the content of reduced glutathione and antioxidant enzymes activities associated with a significant decrease in Serum phosphorylated neurofilament-h, neurospecific enolase and s100 levels were also recorded with significant improvement of spinal cord architecture when compared with the paraquat treated group. Conclusion: The use of benfotiamine and hesperidin produced a significant protection against all of the above-mentioned changes.

Defect engineering presents great promise in addressing lower specific capacity,sluggish diffusion kinetics and poor cycling life issues in energy storage ***,multidimensional(0D/2D/3D) structural defects are constructed in WO_(3)/MoO_(2) simultaneously via competing for and sharing with O atoms during simple hydrothermal *** and 2D defects tailor local electron,activating more sites and generating built-in electric fields to yield ion reservoir,meanwhile,3D defect owning lower anisotropic property tailors Mg^(2+) diffusion channels to fully exploit Mg^(2+) adsorbed sites induced by OD and 2D defects,enhance the kinetics and maintain structural *** from synergistic effect of 0D/2D/3D structural defects,the designed WO_(3)/MoO_(2) shows the higher specific capacity(112.8 mA h g^(-1) at 50 mA g^(-1) with average attenuation rate per cycle of 0.068%),superior rate capability and excellent cycling stability(specific capacity retention of 80% after 1500 cycles at 1000 mA g^(-1)).This strategy provides design ideas of introducing multidimensional structural defects for tailoring local electron and microstructure to improve energy storage property.

Antimicrobial susceptibility of helicobacter pylori strains isolated from patients in Shiraz, Southern Iran

AIM: To improve our understanding of Iranian regional variation in helicobacter pylori (h. pylori ) antibiotic resistance rates to find the best antibiotic therapy for eradication of h. pylori ***: A total of 266 patients undergoing endoscopy in Shiraz, Southern Iran, were included in this study. h. pylori strains were isolated from antral biopsies by culture and confirmed by the rapid urease-test and gram staining. Antibiotic susceptibility of h. pylori isolates was determined by ***: A total of 121 h. pylori strains were isolated, 50 from male and 71 from female patients. Data showed that 44% (n = 53), 20% (n = 24), 5% (n = 6), and 3% (n = 4) of all strains were resistant to the antibiotics metronidazole, amoxicillin, clarithromycin, and tetracycline, respectively. When the antibiotics were considered together we found 11 sensitivity patterns for the strains. Resistance to metronidazole was significantly higher in female than in male patients (P he metronidazole-resistant isolates, the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) exceeded 256 μg/***: We found a moderate rate of primary resistance to metronidazole. however, a high MIC (> 256 mg/L) which was found in 71% of the isolates is considerable. In the case of amoxicillin, an increased resistance rate of 20% is worrying. Resistance to clarithromycin and tetracycline is also emerging among the h. pylori strains in our region.

为探索斜爆轰波诱导区特性变化的内在机制,利用带h2/O2详细化学反应模型的二维欧拉方程进行数值模拟,研究了当量比对诱导区特性的影响。结果表明,随着当量比增大,诱导区长度呈U型曲线变化,在此过程中温度起到了关键作用。通过研究诱导区末端的压力分布发现,诱导区末端的压缩波强度是影响诱导区过渡形式的决定性因素。当量比在0.6～2.5时,压缩波强度较强,过渡形式为突变型,超出该范围,压缩波强度较弱,过渡形式为平滑型。此外,结合定容燃烧(CVC)理论分析了不同来流压力下的诱导区长度随当量比的变化情况,得出诱导区内的化学动力学效应影响了诱导区长度,使其沿理论所预测的U型曲线变化;气动力学效应影响了诱导区长度的变化幅度和速率,避免其过度增大或减小。

This paper studies the mechanism of formation of the deposit layer by (ESD) electro-spark deposition process. Inconel 738 substrates are coated with a deposited layer of NI6625 (Inconel 625). Selections of these two alloys have been done because they had wide applications and importance in the industry especially in gas turban blades in inland stations and in aircraft engines. ESD is suggested because it has a low input heat process which eliminates the effect of hAZ in these Ni-superfluous due to their sustainability to micro-cracks. The coating contains many deposited sub-layers coming from evaporated and melted micro-regions as a result of locally high heat generated by discharging a series of capacitors charged and discharged in a controlled manner between electrode and substrate material. The maximum deposition rates at the beginning of the process and decreases until been in a steady state condition due to the nature of the resultant morphology of the created surface.

Analysis of water supplies and demand over the past 50 years in the Gavkhuni River Basin（GRB） indicate that despite large investments in water resources development the basin remains just as vulnerable to drought as it always has been. During the period of analysis two transbasin diversions and a storage reservoir have been constructed which have more or less doubled the annual supply to water to the basin. But with each water resource development extractive capacity for irrigation, urban and industrial use has increased by the same amount, so that all new water is allocated as soon as it is available. The most recent developments, since 1980, have actually increased vulnerability to drought because extractive capacity is greater than average flow into the basin. Whenever demand exceeds supply all water is extracted from the basin and the tail end dries up. During the past 50 years flows into the salt pan at the downstream end of the basin have been negligible for more than half the time. Prospects for the future are bleak because once the current phase of water resources development is completed no further water supplies are likely, but demand continues to rise at a steady rate. Ultimately agriculture will have to concede water to urban, industrial and environmental demands.
