Older People's Attitudes toward the Internet in Denmark and China

This study examines and compares older Danes’and older Chinese’s attitudes toward the Internet.Semi-structured,open-ended interviews were conducted among 32 older participants,which contain 15 computer users and 17 non-users.Major findings include:first,both older Danes and older Chinese agree that using the Internet is a sign of keeping up with the times and a way to keep their minds active.Second,older Chinese Internet non-users regard the Internet as a symbol of high-level economic and social status,while older Danish Internet non-users perceive the Internet as an everyday activity no matter what their status is.Third,for older Danish Internet users,using the Internet is a daily activity and it has no influence on participating in other social events;however,for older Chinese Internet users,they may tend to reduce the time they spend on other activities,especially at the beginning of learning how to use the Internet.

Enveloped viruses have been the leading causative agents of viral epidemics in the past decade,including the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 outbreak.In epidemics caused by enveloped viruses,direct contact is a common route of infection,while indirect transmissions through the environment also contribute to the spread of the disease,although their significance remains controversial.Bridging the knowledge gap regarding the influence of interfacial interactions on the persistence of enveloped viruses in the environment reveals the transmission mechanisms when the virus undergoes mutations and prevents excessive disinfection during viral epidemics.Herein,from the perspective of the driving force,partition efficiency,and viral survivability at interfaces,we summarize the viral and environmental characteristics that affect the environmental transmission of viruses.We expect to provide insights for virus detection,environmental surveillance,and disinfection to limit the spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2.

为筛选出适宜芹菜育苗的基质配比,降低化肥过量施用造成的资源浪费和环境污染,提高肥料利用率,加快优质无公害蔬菜的集约化、规模化生产,本试验结合甘肃地区气候条件,探究了5种不同用量的玉米秸秆生物碳对芹菜幼苗生长及基质理化性状的影响试验。结果表明,T3处理(玉米秸秆∶草炭∶珍珠岩=8∶82∶10)的芹菜幼苗株高、茎粗、单株干质量、壮苗指数等生长指标均显著高于对照和其他处理;基质总孔隙度为73.05%,水气比高于其他处理,这表明添加适量的玉米秸秆生物炭对芹菜幼苗的生长具有促进作用,进而为当地芹菜高效优质育苗提供参考。

Fatigue in patients with inflammatory bowel disease in Eastern China

BACKGROUND Fatigue is a very common but relatively neglected problem in patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).The prevalence rate of IBD in China is the highest in Asia,but there is little research on fatigue in patients with IBD.Neither the relationship between fatigue and quality of life(QoL)nor the relationship between fatigue and work productivity(WP)in Chinese IBD patients has been reported.AIM To investigate the prevalence of fatigue related to IBD in Eastern China,to identify the risk factors associated with fatigue,to assess the impact of fatigue on QoL,and to evaluate the relationship between fatigue and WP.METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted in a Regional Tertiary IBD Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Eastern China.Clinical data of patients were collected,and disease activity was evaluated.Blood samples were analyzed to assess anemia,albumin,and inflammation.Fatigue was assessed using the multidimensional fatigue inventory.QoL and WP were measured using the short inflammatory bowel disease questionnaire and the work productivity and activity impairment general health questionnaire,respectively.The patients also completed assessments of depression(Patient Health Questionnaire-9)and anxiety(Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item Scale).RESULTS A total of 311 IBD patients,comprising 168 Crohn's disease patients and 143 ulcerative colitis patients,were enrolled.The prevalence of fatigue in patients with IBD was 60.77%.In a univariate logistic regression analysis,factors such as disease activity,depression,anxiety,anemia,and IBD-related surgery were individually related to a significantly increased risk of fatigue in IBD patients.Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that depression[odds ratio(OR)=8.078,95%confidence interval(CI):4.113-15.865],anxiety(OR=2.373,95%CI:1.100-5.119),anemia(OR=2.498,95%CI:1.290-4.834),and IBD-related surgery(OR=2.035,95%CI:1.084-3.819)were related to fatigue in IBD patients.There was a negative correlation between fatigue and QoL(r=-0.831;P<0.0001)bu

Certain poly-and perfluoroalkyl substances(PFASs)exhibit significant bioaccumulation/biomagnification behaviors in ecosystems.PFASs,such as perfluorooctane sulfonate(PFOS),perfluorooctanoic acid(PFOA),perfluorohexanesulfonic acid(PFHxS)and related precursors,have elicited attention from both public and national regulatory agencies,which has resulted in worldwide restrictions on their production and use.Apex predators occupy the top trophic positions in ecosystems and are most affected by the biomagnification behavior of PFASs.Meanwhile,the long lifespans of apex predators also lead to the high body burden of PFASs.The high body burden of PFASs might be linked to adverse health effects and even pose a potential threat to their reproduction.As seen in previous reviews of PFASs,knowledge is lacking between the current stage of the PFAS body burden and related effects in apex predators.This review summarized PFAS occurrence in global apex predators,including information on the geographic distribution,levels,profiles,and tissue distribution,and discussed the trophic transfer and ecotoxicity of PFASs.In the case where legacy PFASs were restricted under international convention,the occurrence of novel PFASs,such as 6:2 chlorinated polyfluorinated ether sulfonate(6:2 Cl-PFESA)and perfluoroethylcyclohexane sulfonate(PFECHS),in apex predators arose as an emerging issue.Future studies should develop an effective analytical method and focus on the toxicity and trophic transfer behavior of novel PFASs.

Luoyang is a typical heavy industrial city in China,with a coal-dominated energy structure and serious air pollution.Following the implementation of the clean air actions,the physic-ochemical characteristics and sources of PM_(2.5) have changed.A comprehensive study of PM_(2.5) was conducted from October 16,2019 to January 23,2020 to evaluate the effectiveness of previous control measures and further to provide theory basis for more effective policies in the future.Results showed that the aerosol pollution in Luoyang in autumn and win-ter is still serious with the average concentration of 91.1 μg/m^(3),although a large reduction(46.9%)since 2014.With the contribution of nitrate increased from 12.5%to 25.1%and sul-fate decreased from 16.7%to 11.2%,aerosol pollution has changed from sulfate-dominate to nitrate-dominate.High NO_(3)^(-)/SO_(4)^(2-)ratio and the increasing of NO_(3)^(-)/SO_(4)^(2-)ratio with the aggravation of pollution indicating vehicle exhaust playing an increasingly important role in PM_(2.5) pollution in Luoyang,especially in the haze processes.Secondary inorganic ions contributed significantly to the enhancement of PM_(2.5) during the pollution period.The high value of Cl^(-)/Na^(+)and EC concentration indicate coal combustion in Luoyang is still serious.The top three contributor sources were secondary inorganic aerosols(33.3%),coal combus-tion(13.6%),and industrial emissions(13.4%).Close-range transport from the western and northeastern directions were more important factors in air pollution in Luoyang during the sampling period.It is necessary to strengthen the control of coal combustion and reduce vehicle emissions in future policies.

目的探讨实习护生体面劳动感的潜在类别,并分析其影响因素。方法于2023年3—4月,采用便利抽样法选取5所江苏省内医院的495名实习护生为研究对象,采用一般资料调查表、体面劳动感知量表、负性行为问卷和领悟社会支持量表对其进行调查,对实习护生体面劳动感特征进行潜在剖面分析,并利用单因素分析、无序多分类Logistic回归分析探讨实习护生体面劳动感的影响因素。结果实习护生体面劳动感可分为3个潜在类别:工作回报感缺乏组(19.8%)、职业认可感低下组(50.9%)和体面劳动感充裕组(29.3%);无序多分类Logistic回归分析结果显示:相较于体面劳动感充裕组,本科学历(OR=2.576),对专业持不喜欢(OR=34.127)和一般态度(OR=9.173),负性行为感知(OR=1.165)是工作回报感缺乏组的预测因素(均P5 000元(OR=3.101),负性行为感知(OR=1.128)(均P<0.05);相较于其他2组,领悟社会支持(OR=0.918,0.919)是体面劳动感充裕组的预测因素(均P<0.05)。结论实习护生体面劳动感水平存在异质性,学历、对专业态度、家庭平均月收入、负性行为感知和领悟社会支持是实习护生体面劳动感的重要影响因素,护理教育者和管理者应当根据不同类别特征制订针对性干预措施。

Backgrounds Embolic stroke is one of the main mechanisms of ischaemic stroke.Even if treated with recommended antithrombotic agents,stroke recurrence remains high.The Shuxuetong injection,a purified extract of traditional Chinese medicine widely used for thrombus diseases in clinical practice in China,could be a promising agent to prevent stroke recurrence.Aims To describe the design of the Shuxuetong injection for prevention of recurrence in acute ischaemic stroke with embolism mechanisms.Design The Shuxuetong for Prevention of recurrence in Acute Cerebrovascular events with Embolism(SPACE)trial is a multicentre,randomised,double-blind,placebo-controlled,parallel-group,superiority trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Shuxuetong injection in reducing recurrence or silent new ischaemic lesions on patients with acute embolic stroke within 10 days.An estimated 2416 patients with embolic stroke within 72 hours of symptom onset from 80 hospitals will be randomly assigned to one of two groups receiving Shuxuetong injection or placebo injection for 10 days.The primary endpoint is symptomatic or asymptomatic new cerebral infarction within 10 days after randomisation.Conclusion The SPACE Trial will provide valuable evidence for the efficacy and safety of Shuxuetong injection for the prevention of stroke recurrence in patients with imaging-defined embolic stroke.
