In this study,Ni catalysts supported on Pr-doped Ce O_(2) are studied for the CO_(2) methanation reaction and the effect of Pr doping on the physicochemical properties and the catalytic performance is thoroughly *** is shown,that Pr^(3+)ions can substitute Ce^(4+)ones in the support lattice,thereby introducing a high population of oxygen vacancies,which act as active sites for CO_(2) *** doping can also act to reduce the crystallite size of metallic Ni,thus promoting the active metal *** performance evaluation evidences the promoting effect of low Pr loadings(5 at%and 10 at%)towards a higher catalytic activity and lower CO_(2) activation *** the other hand,higher Pr contents negate the positive effects on the catalytic activity by decreasing the oxygen vacancy population,thereby creating a volcano-type trend towards an optimum amount of aliovalent substitution.

Perovskite solar cells(PSCs)have made great advances in terms of power conversion efficiency(PCE),yet their subpar stability continues to hinder their *** interface between the perovskite layer and the charge-carrier transporting layers plays a crucial role in undermining the stability of *** this work,we propose a strategy to stabilize high-performance PSCs with PCE over 23%by introducing a cesium-doped graphene oxide(GO-Cs)as an interlayer between the perovskite and hole-transporting *** GO-Cs treated PSCs exhibit excellent operational stability with a projected T80(the time where the device PCE reduces to 80%of its initial value)of 2143 h of operation at the maximum powering point under one sun illumination.

A numerical case study on the long-term seismic assessment of reinforced concrete tunnels in corrosive environments

The paper investigates the long-term seismic behaviour of an underground reinforced concrete(RC)metro tunnel in Santiago,Chile,considering the combined effects of chloride-induced corrosion and cumulative,low-amplitude seismic shaking on the structure’s *** soil-tunnel response is evaluated with the aid of transient,nonlinear finite element analysis using a two-dimensional(2d)plane strain numerical model that adopts advanced nonlinear models for the simulation of soil and concrete plasticity and the dynamic stiffness *** effects of corrosion deterioration are demonstrated in terms of time-dependent loss of rebar area and cover concrete stiffness and *** study illustrates the influence of ageing and repeated seismic shaking on lining deformation,crack development,and the modal characteristics of the intact and degrading *** results indicate that multiple lowamplitude events drive the non-degrading RC tunnel beyond its elastic regime without significant structural response consequences.A noticeable impact of corrosion deterioration on the structure’s seismic performance is revealed,increasing with the number and intensity of earthquake *** different tunnel embedment depths are comparatively *** analyses demonstrate larger coseismic section convergence in the case of the deeper tunnel,yet a less pronounced effect of ageing and successive seismic loading compared to the shallow section,which is evident in the RC lining cracks at the end of shaking.

BACKGROUNd Coronavirus disease 2019(COVId-19)is still a menacing pandemic,especially in vulnerable *** and mortality from COVId-19 in maintenance hemodialysis(MHd)patients are considered worse than those in the general population,but vary across continents and countries in *** To describe the clinical course and outcomes of hospitalized MHd patients with COVId-19 in a retrospective observational single center study in *** We correlated clinical,laboratory,and radiological data with the clinical outcomes of MHd patients hospitalized with COVId-19 during the *** diagnosis was confirmed by real-time polymerase chain *** was determined as survivors vs non-survivors and“progressors”(those requiring oxygen supplementation because of COVId-19 pneumonia worsening)vs“non-progressors”.RESULTS We studied 32 patients(17 males),with a median age of 75.5(IQR:58.5-82)years *** those,12 were diagnosed upon screening and 20 with related *** to the World Health Organization(WHO)score,the severity on admission was mild disease in 16,moderate in 13,and severe in 3 *** computed tomography(CT)showed 1-10%infiltrates in 24 ***“progressors”were recorded among included *** case fatality rate was 5/32(15.6%).Three deaths occurred among“progressors”and two in“non-progressors”,irrespective of co-morbidities and *** of mortality on admission included frailty index,chest CT findings,WHO severity score,and thereafter the increasing values of serum LdH and d-dimers and decreasing serum *** of becoming a“progressor”included increasing number of neutrophils and neutrophils/lymphocytes *** Patients on MHd seem to be at higher risk of COVId-19 mortality,distinct from the general *** laboratory parameters on admission and during follow-up may be helpful in risk stratification and management of patients.

Spatial analysis and evaluation of a coal deposit by coupling AHP & GIS techniques

Nowadays,the evaluation of coal deposits becomes crucial,due to many uncontrollable factors,which affect the energy sector.A comparative evaluation of coal deposits is essential for their hierarchical classification regarding their sustainable exploitation,when compared to other coal deposits or competitive fuels,which may be used as alternative solutions for electricity *** this paper,a method for spatial analysis and evaluation of a lignite deposit is proposed,by creating four spatial key indicators via GIS analysis,which are then aggregated by applying a weighted linear *** analytical hierarchy process is applied to estimate the relative weights of the indicators,in order to perform a weighted cartographic *** the synthesis of the indicators,an overall,total spatial quality indicator is *** weighted analysis was shown to be more effective compared to the unweighted one,because it can provide more reliable results regarding the exploitation of the examined lignite *** implementation of GIS-based analytical hierarchy process in spatial analysis and evaluation of lignite deposits,in terms of sustainable exploitation,demonstrates that this method can be extensively applied for evaluating the economic potential of mineral deposits.

研究了制备参数对用于甘油蒸汽重整反应的Ni基催化剂性能的影响.采用过量浸渍法、等体积浸渍法和改进的平衡沉积过滤(EdF)法制备了一系列Al2O3负载的8 wt%Ni催化剂,运用X射线衍射(XRd)、电感耦合等离子体光谱仪、N_2吸附-脱附、扫描电镜(SEM)、透射电镜和H2程序升温还原(TPR)表征了催化剂的表面和体相性质;采用CHN分析仪和SEM表征了使用后催化剂以测定其表面沉积的碳及其形貌.结果表明,制备方法对所制催化剂的织构、结构和表面性质影响很大,导致氧化铝表面Ni物种的分散和种类的不同.即使XRd和TPR结果证实形成了铝酸镍晶相,但Ni/Al-edf催化剂中β峰的贡献大于其它两个催化剂的,表明在这种情况下铝酸镍更容易还原.在550 ℃以上CO_2选择性增加和CO选择性不变,表明Ni/Al-wet和Ni/Al-edf催化剂可成功催化水汽变换反应.另外,650 ℃时Ni/Al-edf催化剂上甘油生成气相产物的转化率、氢气产率以及烯丙醇、乙醛和乙酸选择性最高,且它在所有催化剂中的积炭量也最低.将催化剂结构性质、分散度和还原性与其催化性能相关联,发现EdF法制得的催化剂比表面积和活性相分散度更高,更易被还原,因而其活性和生成H_2的选择性更高,也更抗积碳.

Effect of testosterone replacement treatment on constitutional and sexual symptoms in type 2 diabetic men. need for rules

In a recent publication, Gianatti and colleagues investigated the effect of testosterone treatment in obese, aging men with type 2 diabetes （T2d） with mild to moderate symptoms, a modest reduction in testosterone levels, mild to moderate aging male symptoms, and erectile dysfunction？ The authors could not show any significant improvement in constitutional or sexual symptoms in this group of men. This randomized double-blind, parallel, and placebo-controlled trial among other critically emphasizes the increased testosterone prescriptions worldwide and together with other corroborating or contradictory studies awakes the need for guidelines in the androgen replacement treatment.

A benchtop brain injury model using resected donor tissue from patients with Chiari malformation

The use of live animal models for testing new therapies for brain and spinal cord repair is a controversial area. Live animal models have associated ethical issues and scientific concerns regarding the predictability of human responses. Alternative models that replicate the 3 d architecture of the central nervous system have prompted the development of organotypic neural injury models. However, the lack of reliable means to access normal human neural tissue has driven reliance on pathological or post-mortem tissue which limits their biological utility. We have established a protocol to use donor cerebellar tonsillar tissue surgically resected from patients with Chiari malformation(cerebellar herniation towards the foramen magnum, with ectopic rather than diseased tissue) to develop an in vitro organotypic model of traumatic brain injury. Viable tissue was maintained for approximately 2 weeks with all the major neural cell types detected. Traumatic injuries could be introduced into the slices with some cardinal features of post-injury pathology evident. Biomaterial placement was also feasible within the in vitro lesions. Accordingly, this ‘proof-of-concept’ study demonstrates that the model offers potential as an alternative to the use of animal tissue for preclinical testing in neural tissue engineering. To our knowledge, this is the first demonstration that donor tissue from patients with Chiari malformation can be used to develop a benchtop model of traumatic brain injury. However, significant challenges in relation to the clinical availability of tissue were encountered, and we discuss logistical issues that must be considered for model scale-up.

dynamic disturbance rejection controllers for neutral time delay systems with application to a central heating system

In the present paper the problem of disturbance rejection of single input-single output neutral time delay systems with multiple measurable disturbances is solved via dynamic controllers. In particular, the general form of the controller matrices is presented, while the necessary and sufficient conditions for the controller to be realizable are offered. The proposed technique is applied to a test case neutral time delay central heating system. In particular, the nonlinear model of the plant and its linearized approximation are presented. Based on the linearized model, a two-stage controller is designed in order to regulate the room temperature and the boiler effluent temperature. The performance of the closed loop system is investigated through computational experiments.

Fast Object Extraction and Euler Number on Block Represented Images

The identification of objects in binary images is a fundamental task in image analysis and pattern recognition tasks. The Euler number of a binary image is an important topological measure which is used as a feature in image analysis. In this paper, a very fast algorithm for the detection and localization of the objects and the computation of the Euler number of a binary image is proposed. The proposed algorithm operates in one scan of the image and is based on the Image Block Representation (IBR) scheme. The proposed algorithm is more efficient than conventional pixel based algorithms in terms of execution speed and representation of the extracted information.
