the role of copper element has been an increasingly relevant topic in recent years in the fields of human and animal health, for both the study of new drugs and innovative food and feed supplements. this metal plays an important role in the central nervous system, where it is associated with glutamatergic signaling, and it is widely involved in inflammatory processes. thus, diseases involving copper(Ⅱ) dyshomeostasis often have neurological symptoms, as exemplified by Alzheimer's and other diseases(such as Parkinson's and Wilson's diseases). Moreover, imbalanced copper ion concentrations have also been associated with diabetes and certain types of cancer, including glioma. In this paper, we propose a comprehensive overview of recent results that show the importance of these metal ions in several pathologies, mainly Alzheimer's disease, through the lens of the development and use of copper chelators as research compounds and potential therapeutics if included in multi-target hybrid drugs. seeing how copper homeostasis is important for the well-being of animals as well as humans, we shortly describe the state of the art regarding the effects of copper and its chelators in agriculture, livestock rearing, and aquaculture, as ingredients for the formulation of feed supplements as well as to prevent the effects of pollution on animal productions.

Glial cells in intracerebral transplantation for Parkinson’s disease

In the last few decades,intracerebral transplantation has grown from a dubious neuroscientific topic to a plausible modality for treatment of neurological *** possibility for cell replacement opens a new field of perspectives in the therapy of neurodegenerative disorders,ischemia,and neurotrauma,with the most lessons learned from intracerebral transplantation in Parkinson's *** animal studies and a few small-scale clinical trials have proven the concept of intracerebral grafting,but still have to provide a uniform and highly efficient approach to the procedure,suitable for clinical *** success of intracerebral transplantation is highly dependent on the integration of the grafted cells with the host *** this process,glial cells are clearly more than passive *** provide transplanted cells with mechanical support,trophics,mediate synapse formation,and participate in graft *** the same time,glial cells mediate scarring,graft rejection,and neuroinflammation,which can be *** can use this information to try to understand the mechanisms behind the glial reaction to intracerebral *** and utilizing glial reactivity can move translational research forward and provide an insight not only to post-transplantation events but also to mechanisms of neuronal death and *** about glial reactivity to transplanted cells could also be a key for optimization of transplantation protocols,which ultimately should contribute to greater patient benefit.

Wireless medical sensors typically utilize electromagnetic coupling or ultrasound for energy transfer and sensor *** transfer and management is a complex aspect that often limits the applicability of implantable sensor *** this work,we report a new passive temperature sensing scheme based on an acoustic metamaterial made of silicon embedded in a polydimethylsiloxane *** to other approaches,this concept is implemented without additional electrical components in situ or the need for a customized receiving unit.A standard ultrasonic transducer is used for this demonstration to directly excite and collect the reflected *** metamaterial resonates at a frequency close to a typical medical value(5 MHz)and exhibits a high-quality *** the design features of the metamaterial with the high-temperature sensitivity of the polydimethylsiloxane matrix,we achieve a temperature resolution of 30 *** value is below the current standard resolution required in infrared thermometry for monitoring postoperative complications(0.1 K).We fabricated,simulated,in vitro tested,and compared three acoustic sensor designs in the 29-43℃(~302-316 K)temperature *** this concept,we demonstrate how our passive metamaterial sensor can open the way toward new zero-power smart medical implant concepts based on acoustic interrogation.

Long-term forecasting of annual peak load considering effects of demand-side programs

the main purpose of this research paper is to investigate the long-term effects of the proposed demandside program,and its impact on annual peak load forecasting important for strategic network *** program comprises a particular set of demand-side measures aimed at reducing the annual peak *** paper also presents the program simulations for the case study of the Electricity Distribution Company of Belgrade(EDB).According to the methodology used,the first step is to determine the available controllable load of the distribution utility/area under *** controllable load is presumed constant over the analyzed time horizon,and the smart grid(sG)infrastructure *** saturation of positive effects during intense program application is also taken into *** and economic input data are taken from the real *** conducted calculations indicate that demand-side programs can bring about the same results as the energy storage in the grids with a strong impact of distributed generation from variable renewable sources(V-REs).In conclusion,the proposed demand-side program is a good alternative to building new power facilities,which can postpone investment costs for a considerable period of time.

since the rapid spread of the Asian chestnut gall wasp(ACGW) throughout south-east Europe in the last few years,the possibilities of its control have been increasingly *** to constraints in available suppression measures in forest stands,biological control is recognized as the most suitable action to lower the abundance of the new invasive *** sinensis,as a specialized parasitoid chalcid wasp of ACGW,was introduced to suppress the pest in Italy in 2005,and later in Croatia,Hungary(2014) and slovenia(2015).We investigated the native parasitoid complex associated with ACGW in slovenia,Croatia and Hungary over 8 years of *** found 41 species of native parasitoids,eight of which are the first records on ACGW in Europe,adding up to a total of 51 species known to parasitize *** findings represent a large complex of cynipid-parasitoid ***,the abundance of native parasitoid populations on ACGW have demonstrated a temporal surge between the invasion of a new alien host(ACGW) and the onset of its specialized parasitoid,*** results indicate that the introduced parasitoid acts as a very successful biocontrol of ACGW,outcompeting native *** outcome should be considered as beneficial through the maintenance of ecological balance in affected forest ecosystems.

sustainable tourism,as an integral part of sustainable development,emerged as a logical outcome of preventing the uncontrolled and excessive use of tourism resources and *** study analyzes whether mountain tourism development in serbia can be sustainable and feasible in the long *** the heterogeneity of mountains in serbia in terms of tourism development,the subject of this research is the achieved level of sustainable tourism development in mountains in the most developed and most visited region in serbia-sumadija and Western serbia:Zlatibor,Kopaonik,tara,Zlatar,Mokra Gora and Go?.the sustainable tourism development level was analyzed by using five groups of the EU’s comparative indicators:economic,social,cultural,environmental and tourist satisfaction *** results showed that the development of tourism in the examined mountains is not fully aligned with sustainable *** tourist satisfaction indicator has the most acceptable values,which is a good basis for further harmonization of tourism development on the principles of *** indicators,especially the ratio of overnight stays and accommodation capacities,show the most unacceptable values,which indicate the need for implementing changes in the process of tourism development in the coming *** analysis of sustainable tourism in mountain areas in sumadija and the Western serbia undoubtfully points out that it is necessary to significantly change the current tourism product portfolio,which implies harmonizing mountain tourism development with global ***,a comparative analysis that looks at the degree of sustainability of mountain tourism in some countries of the Alpine region,such as switzerland,Austria and slovenia,contributes to *** more intensive development of tourism throughout the year would significantly improve indicators of sustainable tourism in all analyzed mountain areas of sumadija and Western *** would improve the

Numerical modelling of supercritical flow in circular conduit bends using sPH method

the capability of 1he smoothed-particle hydrodynamics （sPH） method to model supercritical flow in circular pipe bends is considered. the standard sPH method, which makes use of dynamic boundary particles （DBP）, is supplemented with the original algorithm for the treatment of open boundaries. the method is assessed through a comparison with measured free-surface profiles in a pipe bend, and already proposed regression curves for eslimation of the flow-type in a pipe bend. the sensitivity of the model to different parameters is also evaluated. It is shown that an adequate choice of the artificial viscosity coefficient and the initial particle spacing can lead to correct presentation of the flow-type in a bend. Due to easiness of its implementation, the sPH method can he efficiently used in the design of circular conduits with supercritical flow in a bend, such as tunnel spillways, and bottom outlets of dams, or storm sewers.
