Endangered lowland oak forest steppe remnants keep unique bird species richness in Central Hungary

the biodiversity of natural or semi-natural native,old oak woodlands have high conservation importance,especially in landscapes of monocultural forest plantations and arable *** a wider variety of microhabitats and foraging sources,such old oak forests can provide essential habitat for native forest bird *** conducted a study using bird point counts to compare the forest bird communities of old pedunculate oak(Quercus robur)remnants with native and non-native plantations in central Hungary in a landscape of mostly arable fields,settlements,and monocultural *** surveys were carried out in old oak forest remnants,middle-aged oak,white poplar(Populus alba),hybrid poplar(Populus×euramericana),black locust(Robinia pseudoacacia),and pine(Pinus spp.)*** has been carried out in nine study sites,where all six habitat types were represented(with a few exceptions),to determine total abundance,species richness,Shannon–Wiener diversity,species evenness,dominant and indicator species,and guild *** found that old oak forest remnants were the most diverse habitats among the studied forest types,while hybrid poplar and pine plantations exhibited the lowest avian *** avian guilds most sensitive to the loss of old oak forest remnants were ground foragers,bark foragers,cavity-nesters,residents,and Mediterranean migratory *** habitats were more diverse than non-native *** results suggest that it is important to conserve all remaining high biodiversity old oak stands and to avoid clear-cutting of monocultural plantations in favour of practices such as mixed-species plantations,longer rotation lengths,or retention forestry.

Physical exercise is one of the most effective methods to help prevent cardiovascular(CV) disease and to promote CV health. Aerobic and anaerobic exercises are two types of exercise that differ based on the intensity, interval and types of muscle fibers incorporated. In this article, we aim to further elaborate on these two categories of physical exercise and to help decipher which provides the most effective means of promoting CV health.

the widely used photocatalytic self-cleaning coating materials are often made of polymers and polymer based composites,where the photocatalyst immobilization occurs with ***,these organic polymers are often unstable under exposure to UV irradiation and easily degraded by reactive radicals produced in the photocatalytic *** order to solve this problem,in this paper,we present the facile preparation of a multifunctional coating with dual superhydrophobic and photocatalytic properties,where the fixation and the hydrophobization of the plasmonic Ag-tiO2 photocatalyst particles with visible light activity was performed with non-water soluble sulfur,which is a cheap and easily available *** resulted novel nanocomposite with rough and nano-tructured surface roughness(1.25–2.45 nm determined by small-angle X-ray scattering)has sufficient low surface energy(3.3 mJ/m2)for superhydrophobic(θ=151.1°v)***,in contrast of the organic and expensive fluoropolymer based composites,this non-wetting nature was durable,because the measured was higher than 150°during the long-term LED(λmax=405 nm)light irradiation.

Concentrating Solar Power(CSP)plants offer a promising way to generate low-emission ***,these plants face challenges such as reduced sunlight during winter and cloudy days,despite being located in high solar radiation ***,their dispatch capacities and yields can be affected by high electricity consumption,particularly at *** present work aims to develop an off-design model that evaluates the hourly and annual performances of a parabolic trough power plant(PtPP)equipped with a waste heat recovery *** study aims to compare the performances of this new layout with those of the conventional Andasol 1 plant,with the aim of assessing the improvements achieved in the new *** on the results,it can be concluded that the new layout has increased the annual generated power to almost 183 GWh(an increase of about 7.60% is achieved compared to the Andasol 1 layout that generates 169 GWh annually).Additionally,the proposed installation has achieved an efficiency of 20.55%,which represents a 7.87% increase compared to the previous design(19.05%).the Levelized Cost of Electricity(LCOE)of the new layout has been reduced by more than 5.8% compared to the Andasol 1 ***,it has decreased from 13.11 to 12.35 c/*** reduction in LCOE highlights the improved cost-effectiveness of the newlayout,making it amore economically viable option for generating electricity compared to the conventional Andasol 1 plant.
