3d transition metal oxides based thin film coatings such as copper–cobalt oxides exhibit high absorption in the visible region and low emittance in the infrared to far-infrared region of the solar spectrum which is favourable for use as potential selective surface materials in photothermal devices. These materials have the potential to minimize heating while increasing absorption in the operative spectrum range and therefore achieve higher solar selectivity. A series of mixed copper–cobalt metal spinel oxides（Cu_xCo_yO_z）doped with graphene oxide thin films were deposited on commercial grade aluminium substrates using a sol-gel dip-coating technique at an annealing temperature of 500 °C in air for 1 h. Characterizations of the synthesized films were carried out by high temperature synchrotron radiation X-ray Diffraction（SRXRD）, UV–Vis, Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy（FTIR） and X-ray photoelectron microscopy（XPS）techniques. High thermal stability of coatings with multiple phases, binary and ternary metal oxides, was defined through SR-XRD study. FTIR analysis shows moderate（〈80%） to high（up to 99%） reflectance in the infrared region while the UV–Vis investigations demonstrate that, in the visible region, solar absorption increases gradually（up to 95%） with the addition of graphene oxide to the Cu_x Co_y O_z *** the incorporation of 1.5 wt.% of graphene oxide to the copper–cobalt oxide coatings, a high solar selectivity of 29.01（the ratio of the average solar absorptance in visible and the average thermal emittance in infrared to far infrared region; α/ε） was achieved.

A failure criterion fully considering the anisotropy and hydration of shale is essential for shale formation stability ***,a novel failure criterion for hydration shale is developed by using j.eger’s shear failure criterion to describe the anisotropy and using the shear strength reduction caused by clay minerals hydration to evaluate the *** failure criterion is defined with four parameters in j.eger’s shear failure criterion(S_(1),S_(2),a andφ),three hydration parameters(k,ω_(sh)andσ_(s))and two material size parameters(d and l0).The physical meanings and determining procedures of these parameters are *** accuracy and applicability of this failure criterion are examined using the published experimental data,showing a cohesive agreement between the predicted values and the testing results,R^(2)=0.916 and AAREP(average absolute relative error percentage)of 9.260%.The error(|D_(p)|)is then discussed considering the effects ofβ(angle between bedding plane versus axial loading),moisture content and confining pressure,presenting that|Dp|increases whenβis closer to 30°,and|D_(p)|decreases with decreasing moisture content and with increasing confining ***,|D_(p)|is demonstrated as being sensitive to S1and being steady with decrease in the data set whenβis 0°,30°,45°and 90°.

AIM To outline current evidence regarding prevention and treatment of parastomal hernia and to compare use of synthetic and biologic *** Relevant databases were searched for studies reporting hernia recurrence, wound and mesh infection, other complications, surgical techniques and mortality. Weighted pooled proportions （95%CI） were calculated using StatsDirect. Heterogeneity concerning outcome mea-sures was determined using Cochran’s Q test and was quantifed using I2. Random and fxed effects models were used. Meta-analysis was performed with Review Manager software with the statistical signifcance set at P ≤ ***-four studies were included： 5 reporting biologic mesh repairs; 21, synthetic mesh repairs; and 18, prophylactic mesh repairs. Most of the studies were retrospective cohorts of low to moderate quality. The hernia recurrence rate was higher after undergoing biologic compared to synthetic mesh repair （24.0% vs 15.1%, P = 0.01）. No significant difference was found concerning wound and mesh infection （5.6% vs 2.8%; 0% vs 3.1%）. Open and laparoscopic techniques were comparable regarding recurrences and infections. Prophylactic mesh placement reduced the occurrence of a parastomal hernia （OR = 0.20, P 〈 0.0006） without increasing wound infection [7.8% vs 8.2% （OR = 1.04, P = 0.91）] and without differences between the mesh types.

AIM:To determine whether an increased number and duration of non-acid reflux events as measured using the multichannel intraluminal impedance pH(MII-pH)is linked to gastroparesis(GP).METHODS:A case control study was conducted in which 42 patients undergoing clinical evaluation for continued symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease(both typical and atypical symptoms)despite acid suppression ***-pH technology was used over 24 h to detect reflux episodes and record patients’*** evaluated in patients with documented GP and controls without GP by scintigraphy included total,upright,and supine number of acid and non-acid reflux episodes(pH4,respectively),the duration of acid and non-acid reflux in a 24-h period,and the number of reflux episodes lasting longer than 5 ***:No statistical difference was seen between the patients with GP and controls with respect to the total number or duration of acid reflux events,total number and duration of non-acid reflux events or the duration of longest reflux *** number of nonacid reflux episodes with a pH>7 was higher in subj.cts with GP than in *** addition,acid reflux episodes were more prolonged(lasting longer than 5min)in the GP patients than in controls;however,these values did not reach statistical ***-five patients had recorded symptoms during the 24 h study and of the 35 subj.cts,only 9%(n=3)had a positive symptom association probability(SAP)for acid/non-acid reflux and 91%had a negative ***:The evaluation of patients with a documented history of GP did not show an association between GP and more frequent episodes of non-acid reflux based on MII-pH testing.

Generation of many useful microbe-derived secondary metabolites, including the red pigment prodigiosin of the bacterium Serratia marcescens, is inhibited by glucose. In a previous report, a genetic approach was used to determine that glucose dehydrogenase activity (GDH) is required for inhibiting prodigiosin production and transcription of the prodigiosin biosynthetic operon (pigA-N). However, the transcription factor(s) that regulate this process were not characterized. Here we tested the hypothesis that HexS, a LysR-family transcription factor similar to LrhA of Escherichia coli, is required for inhibition of prodigiosin by growth in glucose. We observed that mutation of the hexS gene in S. marcescens allowed the precocious production of prodigiosin in glucose-rich medium conditions that completely inhibited prodigiosin production by the wild type. Unlike previously described mutants able to generate prodigiosin in glucoserich medium, hexS mutants exhibited GDH activity and medium acidification similar to the wild type. Glucose inhibittion of pigA expression was shown to be dependent upon HexS, suggesting that HexS is a key transcription factor in secondary metabolite regulation in response to medium pH. These data give insight into the prodigiosin regulatory pathway and could be used to enhance the production of secondary metabolites.
