Today’s rapid proliferation of information and technological advancements has led to complex and uncertain modern systems *** problems resulting from this increased complexity may surpass engineers’current capacity to perform effectively within the domain of complex *** response to this situation,the concept of Systems Thinking(ST)has been advanced as an aid to building a mental map that offers a robust conceptual understanding to offset the challenges of modern system of systems(SoS)*** there has been some research regarding the effect of age and gender on ST preferences,there is still a lack of studies investigating how an individual’s ST skills preferences in system of systems(SoS)domain vary across educational *** addition,most of the extant literature focuses on one or two measures to assess the individual ST;thus,there is a need to include the full spectrum of ST measures to assess the ST skills preferences of an individual in the domain of complex *** address these gaps,this research uses an established ST skills preferences instrument to gauge an individual’s ST skills preferences in the SoS domain based on the educational *** hundred and fifty-eight participants with educational qualifications ranging from non-degree to graduate degree participated in the *** analysis of the responses was performed by a post-hoc test to show which groups differ *** the results obtained through aggregate individual responses,we conclude that each group(i.e bachelor,masters and phD),possesses a different ST skills preference profile on average,and the educational qualifications in the SoS environment has a moderation impact on individuals’system skills preferences.

Since its inception,Systems Engineering(SE)has developed as a distinctive discipline,and there has been significant progress in this field in the past two *** to other engineering disciplines,SE is not affirmed by a set of underlying fundamental propositions,instead it has emerged as a set of best practices to deal with intricacies stemming from the stochastic nature of engineering complex systems and addressing their *** the existing methodologies and paradigms(dominant patterns of thought and concepts)of SE are very diverse and somewhat *** appears to create some confusion regarding the design,deployment,operation,and application of *** purpose of this paper is 1)to delineate the development of SE from 1926-2017 based on insights derived from a histogram analysis,2)to discuss the different paradigms and school of thoughts related to SE,3)to derive a set of fundamental attributes of SE using advanced coding techniques and analysis,and 4)to present a newly developed instrument that could assess the performance of systems *** than Two hundred and fifty different sources have been reviewed in this research in order to demonstrate the development trajectory of the SE discipline based on the frequency of publication.

Plasma catalysis is drawing increasing attention worldwide. Plasma is a partially ionized gas comprising electrons, ions, molecules, radicals, and photons. Integration of catalysis and plasma can enhance catalytic activity and stability. Some thermodynamically unfavorable reactions can easily occur with plasma assistance. Compared to traditional thermal catalysis, plasma reactors can save energy because they can be operated at much lower temperatures or even room temperature. Additionally, the low bulk temperature of cold plasma makes it a good alternative for treatment of temperature-sensitive materials. In this review, we summarize the plasmaassisted reactions involved in dry reforming of methane, CO2 methanation, the methane coupling reaction, and volatile organic compound abatement. Applications of plasma for modification of metal-organic frameworks are discussed.

Improving Prediction Efficiency of Machine Learning Models for Cardiovascular Disease in IoST-Based Systems through Hyperparameter Optimization

This study explores the impact of hyperparameter optimization on machine learning models for predicting cardiovascular disease using data from an IoST(Internet of Sensing Things)*** distinct machine learning approaches were implemented and systematically evaluated before and after hyperparameter *** improvements were observed across various models,with SVM and Neural Networks consistently showing enhanced performance metrics such as F1-Score,recall,and *** study underscores the critical role of tailored hyperparameter tuning in optimizing these models,revealing diverse outcomes among *** Trees and Random Forests exhibited stable performance throughout the *** enhancing accuracy,hyperparameter optimization also led to increased execution *** representations and comprehensive results support the findings,confirming the hypothesis that optimizing parameters can effectively enhance predictive capabilities in cardiovascular *** research contributes to advancing the understanding and application of machine learning in healthcare,particularly in improving predictive accuracy for cardiovascular disease management and intervention strategies.

A Novel Approach of Image Steganography for Secure

Steganography aims to hide the messages from unauthorized persons for various purposes,e.g.,military correspondence,financial transaction *** the data during transmission is of utmost importance these *** confidentiality,integrity,and availability of the data are at risk because of the emerging technologies and complexity in software applications,and therefore,there is a need to secure such systems and *** are various methodologies to deal with security issues when utilizing an open system like the *** research proposes a new technique in steganography within RGB shading space to achieve enhanced security compared with existing *** evaluate our approach with the help of diverse image quality evaluation techniques including MSE(Mean Square Error),RMSE(Root Mean Square Error),PSNR(Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio),MAE(Mean Absolute Error),NCC(Normalized Cross-Correlation)and SSIM(Structural Similarity Index).Our experimental results demonstrate improved strength,intangibility,and security when contrasted with existing techniques and vindicate the effectiveness of this exploration *** proposed approach achieved a 3.6701%average higher score for PSNR Correlation than the next best existing ***,in PSNR with a variable amount of cipher embedded in the same images of the same dimensions,the proposed approach attained a 5.22%better *** the same size of cipher in images of different size resulted a 3.56%better score.

Over the last decade,a significant increase has been observed in the use of web-based Information systems that process sensitive information,e.g.,personal,financial,*** this increased use,the security of such systems became a crucial aspect to ensure safety,integrity and authenticity of the *** achieve the objectives of data safety,security testing is ***,with growth and diversity of information systems,it is challenging to apply security testing for each and every ***,it is important to classify the assets based on their required level of security using an appropriate *** this paper,we propose an asset security classification technique to classify the System Under Test(SUT)based on various factors such as system exposure,data criticality and security *** perform an extensive evaluation of our technique on a sample of 451 information ***,we use security testing on a sample extracted from the resulting prioritized systems to investigate the presence of *** technique achieved promising results of successfully assigning security levels to various assets in the tested environments and also found several vulnerabilities in them.

利用德国PEN3电子鼻系统快速检测四种食醋陈化期。通过电子鼻采集食醋挥发性成分的响应值,利用主成分分析(PCA)、线性判别分析(LDA)、Fisher线性判别分析(FDA)和多层感知器神经网络(MLPNN)分析进行模式识别,结果表明:LDA分析效果优于PCA分析;并且随着陈化时间的延长,食醋的气味成分变化有增快的趋势,这种气味的变化规律与酸度的变化规律相符。用Fisher线性判别和多层感知器神经网络建立食醋陈化时间的预测模型,发现Fisher线性判别对凤翔醋、陇县醋、金台醋和渭滨醋陈化期的正确检测率分别为100%、100%、98%和100%;多层感知器神经网络对凤翔醋、陇县醋、金台醋和渭滨醋陈化期的正确检测率分别为100%、100%、96.92%和100%。由于正确检测率的高低得出电子鼻结合Fisher线性判别对食醋陈化期的监测结果优于多层感知器神经网络。

A Review of Wireless Body Area Networks for Medical Applications

Recent advances in Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology, integrated circuits, and wireless communication have allowed the realization of Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs). WBANs promise unobtrusive ambulatory health monitoring for a long period of time, and provide real-time updates of the patient’s status to the physician. They are widely used for ubiquitous healthcare, entertainment, and military applications. This paper reviews the key aspects of WBANs for numerous applications. We present a WBAN infrastructure that provides solutions to on-demand, emergency, and normal traffic. We further discuss in-body antenna design and low-power MAC protocol for a WBAN. In addition, we briefly outline some of the WBAN applications with examples. Our discussion realizes a need for new power-efficient solu-tions towards in-body and on-body sensor networks.

Medicinal potential of Passiflora foetida L. plant extracts: biological and pharmacological activities

OBJECTIVE： To investigate analgesic, antidiarrhoeal and cytotoxic activities of the ethanol extract of Passiflora foetida L. （Passifloraceae） by three experimental methods. METHODS： Analgesic activity of the ethanol extract of Passiflora foetida L. （EEPF） was carried out using acetic acid-induced writhing inhibition in mice. The method of castor oil-induced diarrhoea in mice was utilized to evaluate antidiarrhoeal activity. The cytotoxic activity of EEPF was explored with a brine shrimp lethality bioassay. RESULTS： The extract showed 68.75% and 30.00% inhibition of writhe at the doses of 500 and 250 mg/kg body weight, respectively. The extract increased the mean latent period prior to diarrhoeal onset to about 1.55 h and 1.17 h, and decreased the mean number of stools to 4.4 and 5.6 at the doses of 500 and 250 mg/kg body weight. The extract also demonstrated cytotoxic activity in the brine shrimp lethality assay, and the median lethal concentration for brine shrimp nauplii was 80 pg/mL. CONCLUSION： The results suggest that the plant extract has analgesic and antidiarrhoeal activities, supporting its uses in traditional medicine. The results also demonstrate that the plant extract possesses cytotoxic activities.
