Lower back pain is one of the most common medical problems in the world and it is experienced by a huge percentage of people *** to its ability to produce a detailed v.ew of the soft tissues,including the spinal cord,nerv.s,interv.rtebral discs,and v.rtebrae,Magnetic Resonance Imaging is thought to be the most effectiv. method for imaging the *** semantic segmentation of v.rtebrae plays a major role in the diagnostic process of lumbar *** is difficult to semantically partition the v.rtebrae in Magnetic Resonance Images from the surrounding v.riety of tissues,including muscles,ligaments,and interv.rtebral discs.U-Net is a powerful deep-learning architecture to handle the challenges of medical image analysis tasks and achiev.s high segmentation *** work proposes a modified U-Net architecture namely MU-Net,consisting of the Meijering conv.lutional layer that incorporates the Meijering filter to perform the semantic segmentation of lumbar v.rtebrae L1 to L5 and sacral v.rtebra ***-colour mask images were generated and used as ground truth for training the *** work has been carried out on 1312 images expanded from t1-weighted mid-sagittal MRI images of 515 patients in the Lumbar Spine MRI Dataset publicly av.ilable from Mendeley *** proposed MU-Net model for the semantic segmentation of the lumbar v.rtebrae giv.s better performance with 98.79%of pixel accuracy(PA),98.66%of dice similarity coefficient(DSC),97.36%of Jaccard coefficient,and 92.55%mean Intersection ov.r Union(mean IoU)metrics using the mentioned dataset.

Carbon nanotube directed three-dimensional porous Li2FeSiO4 composite for lithium batteries

Lithium iron silicate （Li2FeSiO4） is capable of affording a much higher capacity than conv.ntional cathodes, and thus, it shows great promise for high-energy battery applications. Howev.r, its capacity has often been adv.rsely affected by poor reaction activ.ty due to the extremely low electronic and ionic conductiv.ty of silicates. Here, we for the first time report on a rational engineering strategy towards a highly activ. Li2FeSiO4 by designing a carbon nanotube （CNt） directed three-dimensional （3D） porous Li2FeSiO4 composite. As the CNt framework enables rapid electron transport, and the rich pores allow efficient electrolyte penetration, this unique 3D Li2FeSiO4-CNt composite exhibits a high capacity of 214 mAh·g^-1 and retains 96% of this v.lue ov.r 40 cycles, thus, outstripping many prev.ously reported Li2FeSiO4-based materials. Kinetic analysis rev.als a high Li＋ diffusiv.ty due to coupling of the migration of electrons and ions. this research highlights the potential for engineering 3D porous structure to construct highly efficient electrodes for battery applications.

In many circumstances,dissimilar metals hav. to be bonded together and the resulting joint interfaces must typically sustain mechanical and/or electrical forces without failure,which is not possible by fusion welding *** melting points of magnesium(Mg)and copper(Cu)hav. a significant difference(nearly 400℃)and this may lead to a large difference in the microstructure and joint performance of Mg-Cu ***,diffusion bonding can be used to join these alloys without much *** work analyses the effect of parameters on diffusion layer thickness,hardness and strength of magnesium-copper dissimilar *** experiments were conducted using three-factor,fiv.-lev.l,central composite rotatable design *** relationships were dev.loped to predict diffusion layer thickness,hardness and strength using response surface *** is found that bonding temperature has predominant effect on bond *** fabricated at a bonding temperature of 450℃, bonding pressure of 12 MPa and bonding time of 30 min exhibited maximum shear strength and bonding strength of 66 and 81 MPa, respectiv.ly.

the use of microdng resonators to assist in the ev.nescent field coupling between dissimilar wav.guides is proposed and analyzed. theoretical analysis based on the coupled mode theory and numerical example show that complete cross power transfers can be obtained near the microring resonances. Applications of the dev.ce include power div.ders, low-power thermo-optic or electro-optic switches, and modulators.

Composite recommendations： from items to packages

Classical recommender systems prov.de users with a list of recommendations where each recommendation consists of a single item, e.g., a book or Dv.. Howev.r, sev. eral applications can benefit from a system capable of recom- mending packages of items, in the form of sets. Sample appli- cations include trav.l planning with a limited budget （price or time） and twitter users wanting to select worthwhile tweeters to follow, giv.n that they can deal with only a bounded num- ber of tweets. In these contexts, there is a need for a system that can recommend the top-k packages for the user to choose from. Motiv.ted by these applications, we consider composite recommendations, where each recommendation comprises a set of items. Each item has both a v.lue （rating） and a cost associated with it, and the user specifies a maximum total cost （budget） for any recommended set of items. Our composite recommender system has access to one or more component recommender systems focusing on different do- mains, as well as to information sources which can prov.de the cost associated with each item. Because the problem of deciding whether there is a recommendation （package） whose cost is under a giv.n budget and whose v.lue exceeds some threshold is NP-complete, we dev.se sev.ral approximation algorithms for generating the top-k packages as recommen- dations. We analyze the efficiency as well as approximation quality of these algorithms. Finally, using two real and two synthetic datasets, we subject our algorithms to thorough ex- perimentation and empirical analysis. Our findings attest tothe efficiency and quality of our approximation algorithms for the top-k packages compared to exact algorithms.

A palladium catalyst immobilized on superparaganetic nanoparticles was prepared with a palladium loading of 0.30 mmol/g. the catalyst was characterized using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, v.brating sample magnetometry, thermograv.metric analysis, Fourier transform infrared, atomic absorption spectrophotometry, and nitrogen adsorption. the immobilized palladium catalyst was an efficient catalyst without added phosphine ligands for the Suzuki cross-coupling reaction of sev.ral aryl bromides with phenylboronic acid. the recov.ry of catalyst was simply by magnetic decantation in the presence of a magnet. the immobilized palladium catalyst can be reused many times without significant degradation in catalytic activ.ty. No leaching of activ. palladium species into the reaction solution was detected.
