Reservoir quality of fluvial sandstone reservoirs in salt-walled mini- basins： an example from the Seagull field, Central Graben, North Sea, UK

The Triassic fluvial sandstones of the Skagerrak formation were deposited in a series of salt-walled mini-basins and act as important hydrocarbon reservoirs for several high-pressure, high-temperature（HPHT） fields in the Central Graben, North Sea. The HPHT reservoirs exhibit excellent reservoir quality considering their depth of burial and hence have been of high interest for hydrocarbon exploration. This research uses a multidisciplinary approach to assess the Skagerrak formation fluvial reservoir quality from the Seagull field incorporating core analysis, petrography, electron microscopy, XRD analysis, fluid inclusion appraisal and burial history modelling. Halokinesis and salt withdrawal at the margin of the saltwalled mini-basin induced early disaggregation bands and fractures at shallow burial and led to increased influx of meteoric water and clay mineral infiltration from overlying sedimentation. The density of disaggregation bands correlates with the occurrence and magnitude of pore-filling authigenic clay minerals, concentrated along the margin of the saltwalled mini-basin. The fluvial channel sandstones of the Skagerrak formation are subject to strong intra-basinal spatial reservoir quality variations despite diagenesis and low vertical effective stress having played a favourable role in arresting porosity loss.

AIM:To investigate if antibiotics administered within 8 h of endoscopy reduce mortality or increase the incidence of Clostridium difficile infection(CDI).METHODS:A 2-year retrospective analysis of all patients who presented with first variceal hemorrhage was *** primary outcome measure was 28-d *** outcome measures were 28-d rebleeding rates and 28-d incidence of *** patients were admitted to a tertiary liver unit with a consultantled,24-h endoscopy *** received standard care including terlipressin *** collection included:primary and secondary outcome measures,timing of first administration of intravenous antibiotics,eti-ology of liver disease,demographics,endoscopy details and complications.A prospective study was undertaken to determine the incidence of CDI in the study population and general medical inpatients admitted for antibiotic therapy of at least 5 d *** analysis was undertaken using univariate,non-parametric tests and multivariate logistic regression ***:There were 70 first presentations of variceal hemorrhage during the study *** percent of cases were male and 65.7% were due to chronic alcoholic liver *** total,64/70(91.4%) patients received antibiotics as prophylaxis during their ***,53/70(75.7%) received antibiotics either before endoscopy or within 8 h of endoscopy [peri-endoscopy(8 h) group],whereas 17/70(24.3%) received antibiotics at > 8 h after endoscopy or not at all(non peri-endoscopy group).Overall mortality and rebleeding rates were 13/70(18.6%) and 14/70(20%),*** periendoscopy(8 h) group was significantly less likely to die compared with the non peri-endoscopy group [13.2% vs 35.3%,P = 0.04,odds ratio(OR) = 0.28(0.078-0.997)] and showed a trend towards reduced rebleeding [17.0% vs 29.4%,P = 0.27,OR = 0.49(0.14-1.74)].On univariate analysis,the non peri-endoscopy group [P = 0.02,OR = 3.58(1.00-12.81)],higher mode

Polymers of intrinsic microporosity （PIMs） are a class of porous organic polymer （POP） that form microporous solids due to the inefficient packing of their rigid and contorted macromolecular chains. In contrast to other types of POP, PIMs are not comprised of a network of cross-linked covalent bonds so that they can be dissolved in organic solvents and processed into robust films, coatings or fibres. Here, over twelve years＇ accumulated research on the synthesis of PIMs is reviewed. To date, three types of polymerisation reaction have been used successfully to prepare PIMs of sufficient molecular mass to form robust self-standing films. These involve the formation of dibenzodioxin, Tr6ger＇s base and imide linkages between monomeric units. This rapid development of synthetic methods for preparing PIMs has been driven by their rich potential for numerous diverse applications and this synergistic relationship between synthesis and functionality is set to continue.

Sport-related concussion(SRC)is a common and increasingly recognised sport-related injury and accounts for between 1%and 9%of all cycling-specific *** has been drawn to the difficulty in managing suspected SRC in a fast-paced sport such as road cycling,particularly the lack of an effective and time-efficient assessment protocol.A meeting on cycling SRC was convened in Harrogate,United Kingdom,in an attempt to resolve this *** aim was to agree on standard terminology,definitions,diagnostic protocols and return to play protocols for the various differing codes of cycle *** experts in the field of cycling medicine were invited to participate by the International Cycling Union and are the authors of this *** panel recognised that the sport of cycling consists of varied disciplines,some of which provide a setting in which a sideline assessment is possible which is in line with the Berlin Consensus ***,other disciplines provide challenging circumstances where health care providers have limited access to participants and where participants are unable to discontinue participation and participate in sideline ***-based discipline-specific protocols and guidelines which recognise the limitations posed by these circumstances,but nevertheless,improve on the current situation specific to the sport of cycling are presented as a potential solution to the unique chal-lenges posed by these cycling disciplines.

Drug overdose is the leading cause of death by injury in the United *** incidence of substance use disorder(SUD)in the United States has increased steadily over the past two decades,becoming a major public health problem for the *** drivers of the SUD epidemic in the United States have changed over time,characterized by an initial heroin outbreak between 1970 and 1999,followed by a painkiller outbreak,and finally by an ongoing synthetic opioid *** nature and sources of these abused substances reveal striking differences in the socioeconomic and behavioral factors that shape the drug ***,the geospatial distribution of the SUD epidemic is not *** United States has specific locations where vulnerable communities at high risk of SUD are concentrated,reaffirming the multifactorial socioeconomic nature of this epidemic.A better understanding of the SUD epidemic under a spatial epidemiology framework is necessary to determine the factors that have shaped its spread and how these patterns can be used to predict new outbreaks and create effective mitigation *** narrative minireview summarizes the current records of the spatial distribution of the SUD epidemic in the United States across different periods,revealing some spatiotemporal patterns that have preceded the occurrence of *** analyzing the epidemic of SUD-related deaths,we also describe the epidemic behavior in areas with high incidence of ***,we describe public health interventions that can be effective for demographic groups,and we discuss future challenges in the study and control of the SUD epidemic in the country.
