In this paper, the impact of the conductivity and the distribution of pollution on the behavior of the high voltage insulator cap and pin 1512l, artificially polluted is described. An experimental model in form of a disc is proposed. This experimental model reproduces the real model which is the 1512l insulator. Besides, a comparative study is presented. For this comparative study, different solutions are adopted to s`imulate the pollution (containing NaCl + distilled water) that has different conductivities for a discontinuous distribution of the pollution on the insulator under an AC voltage. Furthermore, the influence of the pollution on the flashover voltage and the leakage current is studied. Finally, the behavior of real and experimental model of the insulator is investigated.

BACKGROUND: Enzymes involved in drug and xenobiotic metabolism have been considered to exist in two groups: phase I and phase II enzymes. Cytochrome P450 isoenzymes (CYPs) are the most important phase I enzymes in the metabolism of xenobiotics. The products of phase I metabolism are then acted upon by phase II enzymes, including glutathione S-transferases (GSTs). Herbs that inhibit CYPs such as CYP3A4 or that induce GSTs may have the potential to protect against chemical carcinogenesis since the mutagenic effects of carcinogens are often mediated through an excess of CYP-generated reactive intermediates. This study was designed to investigate the effects of salvianolic acid B (Sal B), a pure compound extracted from Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae, a Chinese herb, on cell proliferation and CYP1A2 and CYP3A4 mRNA expression in the presence or absence of rifampicin, a potent inducer of CYPs and GST protein expression in HepG2 cells. METHODS: HepG2 cells were incubated with different concentrations of Sal B. Cell proliferation was determined by SYTOX-Green nucleic acid staining. CYP3A4 and CYP1A2 mRNA expression was assayed by real-time PCR. GST protein expression was analyzed by Western blotting. RESUlTS: low concentrations of Sal B (0-20 μmol/l) had no significant effects on cell proliferation, while higher concentrations (100-250 μmol/l) significantly inhibited proliferation in a concentration-dependent manner. Ten μmol/l Sal B, but not 1 μmol/l, down-regulated CYP3A4 and CYP1A2 mRNA expression after 24 hours of incubation, whereas both 1 and 10 μmol/l Sal B down-regulated CYP3A4mRNA expression after 96 hours of incubation; moreover, 1 and 10 μmol/l Sal B inhibited CYP3A4 mRNA expression induced by rifampicin. Both 1 μmol/l and 10 μmol/l Sal B increased GST expression. CONClUSION: Sal B inhibits CYP3A4 and CYP1A2 mRNA expression and induces GST expression in HepG2 cells.

Identifying genes that define cell identity is a requisite step for characterising cell types and cell states and predicting cell fate *** far,the most widely used approach for this task is based on differential expression(DE)of genes,whereby the shift of mean expression are used as the primary statistics for identifying gene transcripts that are specific to cell types and *** DE-based methods are useful for pinpointing genes that discriminate cell types,their reliance on measuring difference in mean expression may not reflect the biological attributes of cell identity ***,we highlight the quest for non-DE methods and provide an overview of these methods and their applications to identify genes that define cell identity and functionality.

Objective:To investigate the role of water-soluble extract of Salvia fruticosa(Creek sage)(***) leaves in reducing both intrinsic cellular and H_2O_2-induced DNA oxidation in cultured human embryonic kidney 293 *** to the Eastern-Mediterranean basin,is widely used as a medicinal herb for treatment of various ***:Dried leaves of *** were extracted in phosphate buffer saline and purified using both vacuum and high pressure *** ml of the preparation contained(7.1±1.0)mg of ***-293 cells were incubated in one set with *** extract in the presence of 0.1 mmol/l H_2O_2,and in the other set with the addition of the extract *** DNA oxidation was measured using fluorescence upon fluorescein isothiocyanate derivarization of 8-oxoguanine *** fluorescence was measured using flow cytometry ***:Cells incubated 3 h with 150μl extract and exposed to 0.1 mmol/l H_2O_2 showed lower intensity of fluorescence,and thus lower DNA ***,cells incubated 3 h with 100μ*** the extract showed lower intensity of fluorescence,and thus lower intrinsic cellular DNA oxidation compared to control(without ***).Conchisions:The results from this study suggest that the water-soluble extract of *** leaves protects against both H_2O_2-induced and intrinsic cellular DNA oxidation in human embryonic kidney 293 cells.

Interleukin-18 polymorphism as an inflammatory index in metabolic syndrome: A preliminary study

AIMTo assess circulatory levels of interleukin-18 (Il-18) and determine whether the presence of Il-18 promoter polymorphism influences metabolic syndrome phenotypes. METHODSThis study recruited one hundred and eighty individuals divided into three groups with sixty subjects each as: Normal weight (18.0-22.9 kg/m2), overweight (23.0-25.9 kg/m2) and obese (> 26.0 kg/m2) according to South Asian criteria of BMI. Fasting blood glucose (FBG), lipid profile, insulin, Il-18 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)α were measured using ElISA kits, whereas low density lipoprotein (lDl)-cholesterol, insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) and insulin sensitivity (QUICKI) were calculated. The body fat percentage (BF) was measured through bioelectrical impedance analysis; waist and hip circumference were measured. Genotyping of Il-18 -607 C/A polymorphism was performed by using tetra-primer amplification refractory mutation system. Student t test, One-way analysis of variance, Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, Pearson’s χ2 test and Pearson’s correlation were used, where a P value lTSIn an aged matched study, obese subjects showed higher levels of FBG, cholesterol, triglycerides and lDl levels as compared to normal weight (P levels of Il-18 and TNF levels were also seen in obese subjects (Il-18: 58.87 ± 8.59 ng/l) (TNF: 4581.93 ± 2132.05 pg/ml). The percentage of Il-18 -607 A/A polymorphism was higher in overweight and obese subjects vs normal weight subjects (P lin resistance, TNFα and Il-18 levels when compared with subjects with AC (heterozygous) or CC (wild type) genotypes. However, we did not find any difference in the lipid profile between three subgroups. CONClUSIONThis preliminary data suggests that Il-18 polymorphism affects Il-18 levels that might cause low grade inflammation, further exacerbated by increased TNFα. All these incr

A Corpus-based Analysis of Noun Phrase Complexity in English Dissertations Written by l1 English and l1 Arabic Students

This corpus-based study sought to investigate the association between noun phrase complexity and language background in the introductory sections of English dissertations written by l1 English and l1 Arabic doctoral students. A corpus was built based on 100 dissertations, including 50 dissertations for each group. Based on the index of writing complexity features in Biber et al.（2011）, 11 noun modifiers were extracted to represent noun phrase complexity in the writings of the two groups. A Chi-square test and residual analysis were then applied to explore how language background influenced the 11 noun modifiers. The results show that language background largely influences four specific noun modifiers: premodifying nouns, PPs（other）, prepositions followed by-ing clauses, and infinitive clauses. More specifically, the l1 students used premodifying nouns more frequently to construct compressed noun phrases in their dissertations, whereas the l2 students produced more diverse patterns of noun phrases based on prepositional phrases（other）, prepositions followed by-ing clauses, and infinitive clauses. Finally, pedagogical implications are provided, such as the suggestion that online corpora be used to teach noun phrases in graduate writing classrooms.
