The denitdfication and P-removal in the sorption-denitrification-P-removal （S-DN-P） process were carded out under various wastewater compositions. It is noted that P-removal largely depends on the wastewater composition as well to the quantity of the substrates present in wastewater fraction. Three different wastewater fractions are obtained as： raw wastewater, dissolved wastewater （obtained with filtration using 0.45 μm filter）, and undissolved wastewater （i.e., infiltrate obtained by above filtration）. The ratio of P-release/CODtotal-consumption clearly inferred that undissolved wastewater possess very low value i.e., 0.0008 followed by raw wastewater 0.008 and dissolved wastewater 0.03. When this ratio was nearby 0.01, enhanced P-removal was observed. Moreover, the ratio of P-uptake to NO3^--N decomposition for raw wastewater was two times for dissolved wastewater. Interestingly, it was observed that the P-removal and denitrification depend not only on the dissolved substrates but also the undissolved substrates present in the wastewater. The result of the P-removal obtained with this S-DN-P process did not show a big difference of 36%, 34% and 30%, respectively, for raw, dissolved and undissolved wastewater.

Precipitable Water Vapor(PWV)constitutes a pivotal parameter within the domains of atmospheric science,and remote sensing due to its profound influence on Earth’s climate dynamics and weather *** exerts a significant impact on atmospheric stability absorption and emission of radiation,thus engendering alterations in the Earth’s radiative *** such,precise quantification of PWV holds the potential to enhance weather prognostication and fortify preparedness against severe meteorological *** study aimed to elucidate the spatial and temporal changes in seasonal and annual PWV across the Indus River Basin and its sub-basins using ERA5 reanalysis *** present study used ERA5 PWV(entire atmospheric column),air temperature at 2 m(t2m)and 500 hPa(T_500hPa),evapotranspiration,and total cloud cover data from 1960 to *** Sen slope estimator and Mann-Kendall test were used for trend *** and multiple regression methods were used to understand the association of PWV with other *** findings have unveiled the highest increase in mean PWV during the monsoon(0.40 mm/decade),followed by premonsoon(0.37 mm/decade),post-monsoon(0.27 mm/decade),and winter(0.19 mm/decade)throughout the study ***,the mean PWV exhibited the most pronounced positive trend in the sub-basin Lower Indus(LI),followed by Panjnad(P),Kabul(K),and Upper Indus(UI)across all seasons,except *** PWV has also risen in the Indus basin and its sub-basins over the last six *** exhibits a consistent upward trend up to an elevation of 3500 m within the basin which is most pronounced during the monsoon season,followed by the *** escalating PWV within the basin is reasonably ascribed to increasing air temperatures,augmented evapotranspiration,and heightened cloud *** findings hold potential utility for pertinent authorities engaged in water resource management and planning.

Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety outcomes of different antileishmanial agents used in visceral leishmaniasis clinical ***:A systematic literature search in PubMed/MEDLINE,EMBASE,Cochrane,and Google Scholar was done using keywords“randomized controlled trials”,“antileishmanial”and“visceral leishmaniasis”.The outcomes included were cure rate,overall withdrawals,relapse rate,and treatment-emergent adverse *** estimates through the frequentist network meta-analysis approach were presented as OR with 95%*** plots were used for identifying the“best intervention”based on p-scores obtained using the surface under the cumulative *** risk of bias was evaluated by using Pedro ***:Seventeen randomized controlled trials with 5143 visceral leishmaniasis patients who received different antileishmanial agents(amphotericin B,miltefosine,paromomycin,meglumine antimoniate,sodium stibogluconate,sitamaquine,and pentavalent antimonials)and met the inclusion criteria were *** efficacy outcomes of the treatments,the rankogram of the network meta-analysis revealed that paromomycin(p-score=0.8148)has the highest probability of being best in the pool,followed by sodium stibogluconate(OR 0.82,95%CI 0.24-2.79,p-score=0.7580),amphotericin B+miltefosine(OR 0.66,95%CI 0.02-19.04,p-score=0.7329)as compared to the remaining treatments;however,the most of the treatment-emergent adverse events were reported with ***:Paromomycin reported the highest cure rates,while the maximum treatment-emergent adverse events were seen with sitamaquine.

Rabies is an acute encephalitis caused by a lyssavirus. It is primarily transmitted through bites of infected dogs which results in the worldwide death of an estimated 59000 humans every year. The disease is preventable through the application of post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) and its elimination has been demonstrated in many countries by applying multiple interventions simultaneously. Nonetheless, rabies is still widespread in many developing countries, primarily due to the poor implementation of intervention strategies that include inadequate dog-bite wound management practices, unavailability/unaffordability of PEP by the communities, failure to control the disease in free-roaming dogs and wildlife, improper dog population management, weak surveillance and diagnostic facilities and a lack of a One Health approach to the disease. In this review, strategies to control dog-mediated rabies through a One Health approach were discussed. We recommend applying multiple interventions against the disease by involving all the concerned stakeholders in selected urban and rural areas of the countries where rabies is endemic. An empirical demonstration of disease freedom in the selected areas through a One Health approach is needed to convince policymakers to invest in rabies prevention and control on the national level. This multifaceted One Health control model will enhance the likelihood of achieving the goal of global rabies eradication by 2030.

Gorkha earthquake (MW7.8) and aftershock sequence: A fractal approach

On April 25, 2015, Nepal was struck by the MW7.8 Gorkha earthquake followed by an intense aftershock sequence. It was one of the most destructive earthquakes in the Himalayan arc, causing more than 8900 fatalities. In this study, we analyzed the dataset (429 events, magnitude of completeness (Mc) ≥ 4.2 local magnitude) of the first 45 days after the Gorkha earthquake to estimate the seismicity parameters b-value, D-value, and p-value. We used the maximum likelihood method to estimate the b-value and Omori-Utsu parameters, whereas the correlation integral method was applied to estimate the fractal dimension (D-value). The analysis was carried out using running and sliding window techniques. The lowest b-value (0.57 ± 0.04) and the highest D-value (1.65 ± 0.02) were computed at the time of the Gorkha earthquake, after which the b-value significantly increased to a maximum of 1.57. It again dropped to 0.93 at the time of the major aftershock on May 12, 2015. The D-value showed an initial quick drop and then decreased in a wavy pattern until the end of the study period, indicating the clustering and scattering of earthquakes in a fault region. The b-value contour map identified the eastern part of the study area as a high stress region (b = ~0.8), implying that the stress shifted to that region. The D-value contour map reveals that the seismogenic structure shifted from linear to planar in the region. The rate of aftershock decay (p = 0.86 ± 0.04) for a short period reflects that the level of stress decreased rapidly. This study helps to understand the level of stress and seismicity pattern of a region, which could be useful for aftershock studies.

Background:Neonatal jaundice is a common *** evaluated the utility and best cut-off values of 24-and 48-hour transcutaneous bilirubin indices (TcBI) in predicting subsequent significant hyperbilirubinemia and evaluated various associated maternal and fetal risk ***:TcBI at 24 and 48 hours and serum bilirubin levels at 72 hours of age were obtained for healthy,term,appropriate for gestational age *** with prematurity,birth weight 17 mg/dL after 72 hours of life and various cut-offs,and were evaluated by calculating sensitivity,specificity and predictive ***:Of 500 newborns,4.6% had significant hyperbilirubinemia,27% had TcBI (mg/dL) <5 at 24 hours,and 27.4% had TeBI <8 at 48 *** of them had subsequent hyperbilirubinemia (100% negative predictive value).The percentage of newborns with subsequent hyperbilirubinemia increased from 3.4% to 13.2% as their 24-hour TcBI increased from 6 to above 9 mg/dL and from 4.2% to 7.4% as their 48-hour TcBI increased from 8 to above 11 mg/*** best cut-off value was TcBI (mg/dL) 7 (odd ratio=4.86,95% confidence interval:1.66-15.22) at 24 hours and 10 (odd ratio=2.87,95% confidence interval:1.04-8.29) at 48 *** under the receiver operating characteristic curve for 24-and 48-hour measurements was 0.750 and 0.715,*** premature rupture of membranes,deep transverse arrest,post-date pregnancy,and fetal distress were significant risk factors for ***:Twenty-four and 48-hour TcB indices are good predictors of subsequent ***-four-hour TcBI had better predictive abili

The pigments are vital parts of photosynthetic machinery in algae and exhibit a myriad of applications as nutraceuticals,cosmetics,colorants,which find huge applications in many industires,including the paint industry and paper *** antimicrobial,antioxidative,anti-inflammatory,and anti-cancer potential of microalgal pigments contribute towards their varied industrial *** this study,pigments(Fucoxanthin,C-phycocyanin,and C-phycoerythrin),extracted from microalgae were investigated to check the antimicrobial efficacy using agar well diffusion and disc diffusion methods against pathogenic bacteria:Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia *** fucoxanthin pigment isolated from diatom Thalassiosira *** the highest antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus(17±1.53 mm)and in contrast fucoxanthin pigment isolated from Chaetoceroes *** the highest bactericidal activity against Escherichia coli(18±1).The pigment extract of Spirulina plantesis showed the highest antibacterial activity against ***(41±0.3)and *** also exhibited high antibacterial activity against ***(32±0.5)while Anabaena variabilis showed the highest antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus(34±0.5).The potential of microalgal pigments is highly valuable and further extensive studies can elaborate the underlying mechanisms.

Exploring the potential of artificial intelligence techniques in prediction of the removal efficiency of vortex tube silt ejector

A vortex tube silt ejector is a curative hydraulic structure used to remove sediment deposits from canals and is recognized as one of the most efficient substitutes for physically removing canal sediment. The spatially varied flow in the channel and the rotational flow behavior in the tube make the silt removal process complex. It is even harder to accurately predict the silt removal efficiency by traditional models accurately. However, artificial intelligence(AI) and machine learning approaches have emerged as robust substitutes for studying complex processes. Therefore, this research makes use of AI approaches; support vector machine(SVM), random forest(RF), random tree(RT), and multivariate adaptive regression spline(MARS) to compute the vortex tube silt ejection efficiency using the laboratory data sets. The outcomes of the artificial intelligence(AI)-based techniques also were compared with traditional models. It was found that the RT model(root mean square error, RMSE = 2.165, Nash Sutcliffe efficiency, NSE = 0.98) outperforms the other applied approaches which had relatively more significant result errors. The sensitivity analysis of the process depicts the extraction ratio as the key parameter in the computation of vortex tube silt ejector removal efficiency. The findings of the AI-based approaches discussed in the current study might be helpful for hydraulic engineers as well as researchers in the assessment of the removal efficiency of vortex tube silt ejectors.
