Machine learning for predicting the outcome of terminal ballistics events

Machine learning(ML) is well suited for the prediction of high-complexity,high-dimensional problems such as those encountered in terminal *** evaluate the performance of four popular ML-based regression models,extreme gradient boosting(XGBoost),artificial neural network(ANN),support vector regression(SvR),and Gaussian process regression(GP),on two common terminal ballistics’ problems:(a)predicting the v50ballistic limit of monolithic metallic armour impacted by small and medium calibre projectiles and fragments,and(b) predicting the depth to which a projectile will penetrate a target of semi-infinite *** achieve this we utilise two datasets,each consisting of approximately 1000samples,collated from public release *** demonstrate that all four model types provide similarly excellent agreement when interpolating within the training data and diverge when extrapolating outside this *** extrapolation is not advisable for ML-based regression models,for applications such as lethality/survivability analysis,such capability is *** circumvent this,we implement expert knowledge and physics-based models via enforced monotonicity,as a Gaussian prior mean,and through a modified loss *** physics-informed models demonstrate improved performance over both classical physics-based models and the basic ML regression models,providing an ability to accurately fit experimental data when it is available and then revert to the physics-based model when *** resulting models demonstrate high levels of predictive accuracy over a very wide range of projectile types,target materials and thicknesses,and impact conditions significantly more diverse than that achievable from any existing analytical *** with numerical analysis tools such as finite element solvers the ML models run orders of magnitude *** provide some general guidelines throughout for the development,application,and reporting of ML models in terminal ballist

Continued scaling of CMOS technology to achieve high performance and low power consumption of semiconductor devices in the complex integrated circuits faces the degradation in terms of electrostatic integrity, short channel effects （SCEs）, leakage currents, device variability and reliability etc. Nowadays, multigate structure has become the promising candidate to overcome these problems. SO1 FinFET is one of the best multigate structures that has gained importance in all electronic design automation （EDA） industries due to its improved short channel effects （SCEs）, because of its more effective gate-controlling capabilities. In this paper, our aim is to ex- plore the sensitivity of underlap spacer region variation on the performance of SOI FinFET at 20 nm channel length. Electric field modulation is analyzed with spacer length variation and electrostatic performance is evalu- ated in terms of performance parameter like electron mobility, electric field, electric potential, sub-threshold slope （SS）, ON current （Ion）, OFF current （/off） and Ion/loll ratio. The potential benefits of SOl FinFET at drain-to-source voltage, liDS = 0.05 v and vDS = 0.7 v towards analog and RF design is also evaluated in terms of intrinsic gain （Av）, output conductance （go）, trans-conductance （gin）, gate capacitance （Cgg）, and cut-off frequency OCT = gm/2πCgg） with spacer region variations.

Nowadays FinFET devices have replaced the MOS devices almost in all complex integrated circuits of electronic gadgets like computer peripherals, tablets, and smartphones in portable electronics. The scaling of FinFET is ongoing and the analog/RF performance is most affected by increased SCEs(short channel effects) in sub22 nm technology nodes. This paper explores the analog/RF performance study and analysis of high performance device-D2(conventional Hf02 spacer SOI FinFET) and device-D3(source/drain extended Hf02 spacer SOI FinFET) over the device-D1(conventional Si3 N4 spacer SOI FinFET) at 20 nm technology node through the 3-D(dimensional) simulation process. The major performance parameters like I(ON current), I(OFF current), gm(transconductance), gd(output conductance), A(intrinsic gain), SS(sub-threshold slope), TGF = g/I(trans-conductance generation factor), vEA(early voltage), GTFP(gain trans-conductance frequency product), TFP(tansconductance frequency product), GFP(gain frequency product), and f(cut-off frequency) are studied for evaluating the analog/RF performance of different flavored SOI FinFET structures. For analog performance evaluation,device-D3 and D2 give better results in terms of gm, ID(drain current) and SS parameters, and for RF performance evaluation device-D1 is better in terms of f, GTFP, TFP, and GFP parameters both at low and high values of v=0.05 v and v=0.7 v respectively.

In the present investigation, Bhavnagar lignites of the Saurashtra basin （Gujarat） have been studied to assess their hydrocarbon generating potential. The samples of upper as well as lower lignite seams have been studied through microscopy and subjected to various chemical analyses viz. proximate analysis, ultimate analysis and Rock-Eval Pyrolysis. These lignites have high moisture and low to moderate ash yield but are characterized by high volatile matter. Petro- graphically they comprise predominantly of huminite group maceral while liptinite and inertinite groups occur in sub- ordinated amount. Huminite is chiefly composed of detrohuminite and telohuminite. The Tma~ （av. 416.23 ~C） and huminite reflectivity （0.28%-0.30%） indicate a low degree of maturity for these lignites which is also substantiated by the T,n~~ versus hydrogen index plot. The organic matter is subjugated by kerogen Type-III with a potential to expel hydrocarbon on liquefaction. Study further reveals that the fixed hydrocarbon is several folds higher than the free hydrocarbons. Being high in reactive maceral content, a high ＇conversion＇ and good ＇oil yield＇ values for these lignites were observed. Thus, the empirically derived values match well with those obtained through the experimental values of Rock-Eval Pyrolysis and validate their hydrocarbon generating potential.

Acitretin is a photosensitive oral retinoid with very limited data available on its *** official HPLC method for acitretin determination was insufficient to resolve the degradation products generated during stability ***,an isocratic RP-HPLC-Uv method was developed for the determination of acitretin in the presence of its related impurities and degradation *** chromatographic separation was achieved on a Thermo beta-basic column C18(100 mm4.6 mm,5μm)with mobile phase containing 0.3%(v/v)glacial acetic acid with acetonitrile(ACN)and isopropyl alcohol(IPA)in an isocratic ratio of 70:30 at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min with the eluent monitored at 360 *** method was validated for specificity,linearity,precision,accuracy and *** calibration plot was linear over the concentration range of 50-150μg/mL with a correlation coefficient(r2)of *** proposed method was used to investigate the degradation kinetics of acitretin under the different degradative *** degradation rate constant(K),half-life(t1/2),and t90 were *** of acitretin followed pseudo-first-order *** drug was found to be less stable under acidic and photolytic degradation conditions:the photolytic degradation constants for acitretin in sunlight and Uv light were 0.002698%and 0.0008402%min1,*** LOD for acitretin and the known impurities were at a level below 0.02%.The method shows consistent recoveries for ACTR(99.8%-101.2%)and also for its known impurities(97.2-101.3%).The method was found to be accurate,precise,linear,specific,sensitive,rugged,robust,and useful for characterizing the stability of this chemical.

Gate leakage current reduction in IP3 SRAM cells at 45 nm CMOS technology for multimedia applications

We have presented an analysis of the gate leakage current of the IP3 static random access memory （SRAM） cell structure when the cell is in idle mode（performs no data read/write operations） and active mode （performs data read/write operations）,along with the requirements for the overall standby leakage power,active write and read powers.A comparison has been drawn with existing SRAM cell structures,the conventional 6T,PP, P4 and P3 *** the supply voltage,v_（DD） = 0.8 v,a reduction of 98%,99%,92%and 94%is observed in the gate leakage current in comparison with the 6T,PP,P4 and P3 SRAM cells,respectively,while at v_（DD） = 0.7 v,it is 97%,98%,87%and 84%.A significant reduction is also observed in the overall standby leakage power by 56%〉, the active write power by 44%and the active read power by 99%,compared with the conventional 6T SRAM cell at v_（DD）= 0.8 v,with no loss in cell stability and performance with a small area *** simulation environment used for this work is 45 nm deep sub-micron complementary metal oxide semiconductor（CMOS） technology,t_（ox） = 2.4 nm,K_（thn） = 0.22 v,K_（thp） = 0.224 v,v_（DD） = 0.7 v and 0.8 v,at T = 300 K.
