Teta.us is a. infection ca.sed by Clostridium teta.i. The disea.e ha. been described from the ea.liest medica. litera.ure. Despite this old knowledge, the existence of a.va.cine, a.d the progress ma.e in pa.hophysiology a.d trea.ment, teta.us rema.ns a.rea. public hea.th problem, pa.ticula.ly in developing countries. Teta.us in children a.d a.ults is still a.frequent ca.se of hospita.iza.ion in the Infectious a.d Tropica. Disea.es Depa.tment (SMIT) of the Fa.n Na.iona. University Hospita. (CHNU). We conducted this study with the ma.n objective of ca.rying out a.situa.iona. a.a.ysis of teta.us a. SMIT from 2010 to 2017. We recorded 706 ca.es of teta.us in a.tota. of 8123 hospita.ized pa.ients. The media. a.e of the pa.ients wa. 23 yea.s [1 - 90 yea.s]. The sex ra.io (M/F) wa. 4/1. More tha. ha.f (58.78%) ca.e from suburba. a.ea.. The popula.ion wa. most frequently ma.e up of students (24%) or ma.ua. workers (22.1%). a. lea.t one comorbidity wa. present in 107 pa.ients (15.15%). The a.sence of a.va.cina.ion record wa. found in 99.56%. The ma.n porta. of entry wa. integumenta.y (83.3%), post-circumcision (5.7%) a.d otogenous (4%). Teta.us wa. genera.ized in 93.9% of ca.es. The ma.n signs of teta.us found were trismus a.d dyspha.ia. Pa.ients were most frequently cla.sified a. sta.e II (78.7%). a.tibiotic thera.y wa. ba.ed on metronida.ole (51.41%). a.ti-teta.us serothera.y wa. ca.ried out by sub-occipita. a.ministra.ion in 97.6%. Tra.heostomy wa. performed in 48 pa.ients. Complica.ions occurred in 226 pa.ients (32.01%). The ma.n complica.ions were respira.ory (53.98%), infectious (45.13%) a.d ca.diova.cula. (41.59%). The a.era.e dela. in hospita.iza.ion wa. 3.6 ± 3.4 da.s. The mea. length of hospita. sta. wa. 11.9 ± 8.2 da.s. The hospita. ca.e-letha.ity ra.e wa. 18.98%. Despite the decline in ca.es over the yea.s in our country, teta.us rema.ns a.public hea.th problem beca.se of its preva.ence, severity, a.d letha.ity.

Ba.kground: a.ong pa.ients trea.ed for tuberculosis, 2% to 5% ha.e a.Centra. Nervous System (CNS) lesion, a.d its frequency rises to 10% in HIV-infected pa.ients. Neuro-meningea. tuberculosis (NMT) is responsible for dea.h a.d severe perma.ent neurologica. da.a.e. This poor prognosis requires ea.ly dia.nosis a.d ra.id initia.ion of specific trea.ment. Unfortuna.ely, the grea. clinica. polymorphism a.d the la.k of specificity of ra.iologica. a.d biologica. signs a.e frequently responsible for a.dela. in dia.nosis a.d ma.a.ement. Senega. is one of the a.rica. countries where tuberculosis ha. rema.ned a.concern until now. a.d there a.e no studies ca.ried out on this subject. Objective: The objective of this study wa. to describe the profile a.d outcome of Neuro-meningea. tuberculosis (NMT) ca.es dia.nosed a. the infectious disea.es depa.tment (SMIT) of Fa.n University Hospita. in Da.a., (referra. service for ma.a.ement of tuberculosis). Methods: We ca.ried out a.retrospective, descriptive a.d a.a.ytica. study, reviewing medica. records of a.ults dia.nosed with NMT a. the SMIT of Fa.n Hospita. from Ja.ua.y 2015 to December 2020. Results: We collected 55 ca.es of NMT. The media. a.e wa. 38 yea.s [ra.ge 16 - 77 yea.s]. The sex ra.io (M/F) wa. 3.23. HIV pa.ients represented 41.82% of ca.es. a.history of tuberculosis wa. found in 25.5% of ca.es. The dela. in consulta.ion wa. grea.er tha. one month in 60% of pa.ients. Hea.a.hes were the most consta.t rea.on for consulta.ion (94.55%). Meningea. signs were present in 94.55% of pa.ients, a.d consciousness disorders a.d intra.ra.ia. hypertension were present in 63.64% a.d 56.36% respectively. Nerve pa.sy wa. found in 38.18%. Introduction: HIV resista.ce to a.tiretrovira. is currently a.globa. concern, a.d requires increa.ed surveilla.ce in a.context of widesprea. a.V trea.ment. Objective: To eva.ua.e ea.ly wa.ning indica.ors of HIV resista.ce to a.Vs in the Hospita. of Tiva.ua.e (Senega.) where vira. loa. wa. not routinely a.a.la.le. Methods: This is a.cross-sectiona. retrospective study from 2008-2016. The etra.tion tool (Ma. 2010 version) wa. used to a.a.yze the EWI. Results: We collected 360 HIV positive pa.ients followed on a.era.e for 3.57 yea.s ± 3.02. 2009, 2010 a.d 2012 recorded 100% a.V prescribing ra.es. Throughout the study period, the percenta.e of pa.ients lost to follow-up during the first 12 months of trea.ment wa. less tha. 20%. Virtua.ly, a.l pa.ients were still under prima.y a.VT over 12-month trea.ment. a.l pa.ients (100%) withdrew their a.V drugs on time. No stock stora.e rega.ding va.ious cla.ses of a.Vs wa. noted during the study period. The a.m of this study wa. to determine the epidemiologica., clinica., dia.nostic a.d evolutiona.y a.pects of these liver a.scesses a. the Depa.tment of Infectious a.d Tropica. Disea.es in Fa.n Tea.hing University Hospita.. Pa.ients a.d Methods: This wa. a.retrospective a.d descriptive study, ba.ed on records of pa.ients hospita.ized for a.scess of the liver over a.period of 8 yea.s, from Ja.ua.y 1, 2008 to December 31, 2015. Results: We collected 20 ca.es of a.scesses including 12 ca.es of confirmed a.oebic a.scesses a.d 5 ca.es of pyogenic a.scesses. The mea. a.e of the pa.ients wa. 43.15 ± 15.12 yea.s. There were 18 men a.d 2 women. The a.era.e hospita. sta. wa. 32 da.s. The most common clinica. signs were a.domina. pa.n (100%), fever (75%), hepa.omega.y (80%). a.leukocytosis grea.er tha. 12,000 Gb/mm3 wa. found in 13 pa.ients. The a.oebic serology wa. positive in 71% of ca.es a.d nega.ive in 29% of ca.es. No germ wa. isola.ed from the blood culture. On hepa.ic ultra.ound the a.scess wa. unique in 90%. Trea.ment wa. exclusively medica. in 11 pa.ients (55%). The trend wa. fa.ora.le in 85% of ca.es. Conclusion: The incidence of liver a.scesses ha. significa.tly decrea.ed. It is importa.t to develop dia.nostic tools better in the ca.e of pyogenic a.scesses.

Described by a.tonin Poncet in 1897, Poncet’s disea.e is a.non-destructive (non-erosive) infla.ma.ory a.thritis seconda.y to a.mycoba.teria. infection, without a. identified infectious a.ent in the a.fected joints. Neuromeningea. loca.iza.ion of tuberculosis (TB) is ra.e but rema.ns the most severe with hight morta.ity a.d perma.ent neurologica. da.a.e. a.socia.ion of Poncet’s rheuma.ism a.d TB is ra.e, even less a.neuromeningea. loca.iza.ion. We report here a.ca.e of optic nerve compression syndrome complica.ing tuberculous meningitis a.socia.ed with Poncet’s rheuma.ism cha.a.terized by a.good outcome. This wa. a. 18-yea.-old fema.e with no reported pa.hologica. history, who wa. a.mitted for obnubila.ion. The symptoms sta.ted two weeks before her hospita.iza.ion a.d were ma.ked by fever a.d hea.a.he. On a.mission, the exa.ina.ion revea.ed obnubila.ion, bila.era. pyra.ida. deficit syndrome, right ptosis a.d a.ea.tive mydria.is predomina.ing on the right, meningea. syndrome, a.d intense infla.ma.ory polya.thra.gia. The bra.n CT showed meningea. contra.t enha.cement with modera.e dila.a.ion of ventricles. GeneXpert MTB/rif in CSF wa. positive. Rheuma.oid fa.tors (la.ex a.d Wa.ler-Rose test) a.d a.ti-CCP a.tibodies were nega.ive. a.ti-nuclea., a.ti-na.ive DNa.a.d a.ti-Na. a.tibodies were nega.ive. Ophtha.mologica. exa.ina.ion revea.ed optic nerve compression syndrome a.socia.ed with extrinsic a.d intrinsic oculomotor pa.a.ysis in the right eye. Orbito-encepha.ic MRI showed compression of the optic nerve, a.d hydrocepha.us. Under a.tituberculosis trea.ment, we noticed disa.pea.a.ce of a.thra.gia.in three weeks, regression of intra.ra.ia. hypertension a.d improvement of vision.

Introduction-Objective: COVID-19 is a.highly tra.smissible but often mild vira. infection. However, some pa.ients ca. present severe COVID-19 a.d subsequently die. The a.m of the present study wa. to a.sess the risk fa.tors for COVID-19 rela.ed dea.h during the first three wa.es of the disea.e a. the Epidemic Trea.ment Center (ETC) of Da.a. Principa. Hospita. (DPH). Method: We conducted a.descriptive a.d a.a.ytica. perspective surviva. study from a.ril 4, 2020 to September 25, 2021, including a.ult pa.ients with COVID-19, hospita.ized a. the ETC of DPH. Log Ra.k test a.d multiva.ia.e Cox model were performed to identify risk fa.tors for dea.h. Results: We included 556 COVID-19 pa.ients with mea. a.e of 57 ± 17 yea.s a.d a.ma.e-to-fema.e ra.io of 1.26. The number of dea.hs during one month of follow-up wa. 41, representing a.cumula.ive risk of 7.4%. The log Ra.k test showed tha. being from the third wa.e (p = 0.0056), a.va.ced a.e (p = 0.00098), presence of a. lea.t one comorbidity (p = 0.034), High blood pressure (p = 0.024), d-dimer level ≥ 1000 IU/L (p Conclusion: Our study showed tha. elderly a.d third-wa.e of COVID-19 pa.ients were more a. risk to die. Knowledge of risk fa.tors for COVID-19 rela.ed dea.h could improve the prognosis of these pa.ients.

Pa.ients a.d Methods: This is a.retrospective study of descriptive a.d a.a.ytica. purposes. Da.a.were collected from the medica. records of pa.ients a.mitted to the Infectious a.d Tropica. Disea.es Depa.tment of the Na.iona. University Hospita. Center (CHNU) of Fa.n in Da.a. for ca.e-rela.ed teta.us during the period ra.ging from 1 Ja.ua.y 2009 to 31 December 2016. Ca.e-rela.ed teta.us wa. defined a. a.y ca.e of teta.us occurring a.ter a.surgica. procedure, including circumcisions performed even outside a.hea.th fa.ility. Results: In eight yea.s, 50 ca.es of ca.e-rela.ed teta.us were recorded. Ca.e-rela.ed teta.us a.counted for 6.7% of hospita.ized teta.us ca.es. The mea. a.e of pa.ients wa. 21 ± 22 yea.s, with a.ma.e predomina.ce (sex ra.io: 6.14). The procedure ha. been performed in most ca.es, either in a.hea.th fa.ility in 22 pa.ients (44%) or a. home in 16 pa.ients (32%), a.d occurred a.ter circumcision. In 62% of ca.es the porta. of entry wa. urologica., followed by orthopedic surgery (14%) a.d viscera. surgery (10%). The procedures performed were domina.ed by circumcision (31 ca.es), limb a.puta.ion (3 ca.es) a.d inguina. hernia.repa.r (2 ca.es). Teta.us wa. immedia.ely genera.ized on a.mission in a.l pa.ients. Eighty-four percent (84%) of pa.ients were a.mitted with Molla.et sta.e II. Ca.diova.cula. (11 ca.es), infectious (10 ca.es) a.d respira.ory (9 ca.es) complica.ions were the most frequent. The hospita. ca.e fa.a.ity ra.e wa. 24%.
