In this paper, we developed a novel method of combining remote sensing tools at the sub-pixel level for accurate identification of impervious surface time series changes. We examined the use of the red-green-blue impervious surface model (RGB-IS) in detecting time series internal modification of urban regions by integrating Landsat data collected over four different periods between 1987 and 2009 (i.e., 1987, 2000, 2002, and 2009). The performance of this approach was compared with two conventional methods, namely standard RGB-normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and post-classification technique. In contrast to conventional techniques, RGB-IS could monitor between-class changes, within-class changes, and location of these modifications. The proposed method was independent of seasonal changes and was also able to serve as a useful alternative for quick mapping growth hotspots and updating transportation corridor map. The results also showed that Cixi County, Zhejiang Province, China experienced tremendous impervious surface changes, especially along the corridors of newly constructed highways and around urban areas over the past 22 years.

地形特征(如高程和坡度)和水文特征(如河流长度和河流坡度)是分布式流域水文水质模型的基础输入参数,用于量化描述模型模拟流域的自然特征。这些特征参数的准确性直接影响水文水质过程模拟的准确性。应用数字高程模型(Digital Elevation Model,DEM)在4个不同地形的子流域研究了10种不同分辨率DEM对平均高程、流域面积、坡度、河流坡度、最长河长等参数的影响。结果表明,随着DEM分辨率降低,流域地形变缓,流域平均坡度逐渐减小;随着DEM网格分辨率的变化,子流域划分范围和河道位置也都可能发生变化,且该变化在地形起伏较小的丘陵平原地区较明显,子流域集水面积和河长进一步随之改变;河流坡度随DEM分辨率降低则呈无规则变化。从地形和水文参数两方面揭示了DEM分辨率在分布式流域模型中的不确定性影响。

Background The incidence of coronary heart disease （CHD） is higher in Northern than that in Southern China, however differences in traditional CHD risk factors do not fully explain this. No study has examined the differences in subclinical atherosclerosis that may help explain the differences in incidence. This study examined these differences in subclinical atherosclerosis using coronary computed tomography （CT） for calcification between the Northern and Southern China. Methods We selected a random sample of participants in a large multi-center ongoing epidemiologic study for coronary calcium scanning in one northern city （North）（Beijing, n = 49） and in two southern cities （South）（Shanghai, n = 50, and Guangzhou, n = 50）. Participants from the three field centers （mean age 67 years） underwent coronary risk factor evaluation and cardiac CT scanning for coronary calcium measurement using the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis scanning protocol. Results Adjusted log-transformed coronary artery calcium score in North China （Beijing） was 3.1 ±0.4 and in South China （Shanghai and Guangzhou） was 2.2 ＋_ 0.3 （P = 0.04）. Mean calcium score for the northern city of Beijing was three times higher than that of the southern city of Guangzhou （P = 0.01） and 2.5 times higher than for the southern city of Shanghai （P = 0.03）. Conclusions The extent of subclinical atherosclerosis is significantly higher in the northern city of Beijing than that in the two southern cities of Guangzhou and Shanghai, even after adjusting for standard cardiac risk factors. This finding suggests that standard risk factors do not fully explain north south differences in clinical CHD incidence.

Electrocatalytic synthesis of value-added chemicals is attracting significant research attention owing to its mild reaction conditions, environmental benignity, and potentially scalable application to organic synthetic chemistry. Herein, we report the preparation of a single-crystalline NiS2 nanostructure film of N 50 nm thickness grown directly on a carbon fiber doth （NiSJCFC） by a facile vapor-phase hydrothermal （VPH） method. NiSJCFC as an electrocatalyst exhibits activity for both the oxygen evolution reaction （OER） and the hydrogen evolution reaction （HER） in alkaline media. Furthermore, a series of alcohols （2-propanol, 2-butanol, 2-pentanol, and cyclohexanol） were electrocatalytically converted to the corresponding ketones with high selectivity, efficienc and durability using the NiSJCFC electrode in alkaline media. In the presence of 0.45 M alcohol, a remarkably decreased overpotential （- 150 mV, vs. RHE） at the NiS2/CFC anode compared with that for water oxidation to generate O2, i.e., the OER, in alkaline media leads to significantly improved H2 generation. For instance, the H2 generation rate in the presence of 0.45 M 2-propanol is almost 1.2-times of that obtained for pure water splitting, but in a system that employs an applied voltage at least 280 mV lower than that required for water splitting to achieve the same current density （20 mA-crn-2）. Thus, our results demonstrate the applicability of our bifunctional non-precious-metal electrocatalyst for organic synthesis and simultaneous H2 production.
