This study aims to determine the effect of audiosonic sonication in normal modes on the formation of graphene oxide(GO)fromcarbon rods of zinc-carbon(ZnC)battery *** method used in this study was sonication with an audiosonic frequency in normal modes,assisted by a surfactant solution derived from a commercial detergent.A graphite-detergent solutionwas exposed to audiosonicwaves using a frequency of 170 Hz for 3 hwith a pattern on the surface of the *** graphite solution was a mixture of 0.8 g of graphite powder and 100 ml of distilled water that was mixed using a blender for 2 min.25 ml of the solution was then taken and dripped with two drops of detergent solution containing 0.2 g detergent powder dissolved into 100 ml distilled water,so that a graphite-detergent solutionwas *** tools used in this study included UV–Visible spectroscopy(UV–Vis),Fourier TransformInfraRed spectroscopy(FTIR),and a Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM).The solution that was audiosonicated showed a strong visible nodal pattern on its *** UV–Vis spectroscopy produced absorbance peaks at wavelengths of 225 nmand 270 nm,and the FTIR indicated the presence of OH and C_C functional groups,which suggested the existence of *** SEMimages showed GO in the formof coral-like materials.

Different combinations of essential oils from cinnamon, cloves, oregano, and thyme were evaluated in vitro for their bactericidal activity against enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC). The solutions containing cinnamon (0.03%), oregano (0.16%), and thyme (0.08%) (P1);and clove (0.08%), oregano (0.33%), and thyme (0.04%) (P2), exhibited high bactericidal activity, and were selected for use as preservatives in ground beef inoculated with ETEC and refrigerated. The two preservative solutions (P1 and P2) exhibited significant bactericidal action (p nation while preserving the products’ coloration.

In a recent article,Longman and Swaminath analyzed our paper on the use of rifaximin in patients with moderately active Crohn’s disease(CD).Here we report some considerations concerning their *** exploratory post-hoc subgroup analysis showed that early-stage disease and,differently from that written by Longman and Swaminath,also colonic involvement seemed to be associated with a significant higher efficacy of rifaximin-EIR 800 mg twice ***-stage disease is generally considered as the more easily treatable phase of CD,and the better response to rifaximin in Crohn’s colitis is in accordance with the high concentration of bacteria in the *** addition,patients with C reactive protein level>5 mg/L achieved remission more significantly than patients with normal values,thus suggesting that the symptoms were probably caused by inflammation instead of by non-inflammatory *** also analyze the role of rifaximin against gut bacteria and the clinical situations that could obtain the best results from antibiotics.

Introduction: volume increase of Pediatric Surgery (PedSur) due to factors not yet fully clarified contrast with the scarcity of pediatric surgeons in Brazil and globally. Geographic distribution, surgical care costs, and graduation period might contribute to this dearth. In Brazil, vacancy occupation rate in PedSur is below 43% (162 vacancies/year). Aim: analyze the volume of procedures performed on 0 - 12 year-old patients in PedSur by a single Specialist at Hospital Regional (HR);compare with the literature and propose the outset of a PedSur Medical Residence program. Material & Method: 1912 attendances were fulfilled on 986 children who were submitted to surgical procedures between 2008 and 2012 at HR by a single specialist. Results: Surgical procedures were performed on 1137 children, an average of 227/year or 197 children per year. Surgery was carried out in 667 (68%) boys and 319 (32%) girls. Hernias, appendectomies and circumcisions were the most frequent external surgeries. 437 (44%) patients were discharged on the same day and, 549 (56%) were hospitalized. In the Pediatric ICU and in the Neonatal ICU 181 procedures were performed (18%). Conclusion: It was possible to make evident the distribution of surgeries on children, the degree of complexity and a sufficient number of subjects for training in this Specialty. The obtained data allow the development of a study with regards to the inception of a Medical Residence in PedSur at HR for training and retaining the professional in the region.

Relationship between Rainfall Instability and Agricultural Production in the Brazilian Semi-arid Region

The study evaluated the synergy between the indicators of rainfall,vegetation cover,land productivity in crop production,livestock production and the relationship between the value of aggregate agricultural production and the gross domestic product of municipalities in the semi-arid region of the State of Ceará,*** data sources are:CearáMeteorology and Water Resources Foundation(FUNCEME)and Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics(IBGE)for the years 1996,2006 and *** research used the methodology of factor analysis(FA),with decomposition into principal components,to construct the index of agricultural production preservation(IAPP).The results showed that 1996 had the best rainfall levels and the highest IAPP values compared to the other years *** of 2017 was the last one of a draught period that extended in Cearáfrom 2012 to *** that year the lowest values for IAPP were *** main conclusion is:there was the expected interaction between rainfall and agricultural preservation indicators applied in the semi-arid region of the state of Cearáin the years 1996,2006 and 2017.

Effects of Al on microstructural stability and related stress-rupture properties of a third-generation single crystal superalloy

To examine the influences of minor modification of Al content on the microstructural stabilities and stress rupture properties,two alloys with minor difference in Al content were exposed isothermally at 1100℃for 100 h,500 h,and 1000 h,*** microstructures were characterized before and after thermal *** was found that when Al content was decreased by 0.4 wt%,the volume fractionγ'decreased by 4%,the size ofγ'increased by 40 nm,the matrix channel width increased by 5 nm,and the misfit degree ofγ/γ'phases increased by 0.006%after heat treatment(HT).During thermal exposure,the alloy with low Al content had a better resistance to coarsening ofγ'phase and precipitation ofμ***γ'particles of the alloy with high AI content tended to connect each other and coarsened alongdirections;however,theγ'particles of the alloy with low Al content remained cubic after 500 h.A serious coarsening behavior took place in the two alloys after aging for 1000 *** structural stabilities were significantly ***,the change of 0.4 wt%Al content was found to have little effect on the high temperature stress-rupture properties.

Portable diagnostic devices are a viable and low-cost alternative for the detection of pathogens, since they reduce the time of analysis of results availability. Ease of sample collection and quick diagnosis allow this new input to be applied in the diagnosis of the main contaminating microorganisms present in the water. Laboratory tests evaluated the technical viability of the diagnostic device, using commercial strains which were inoculated and optimized in the devices and their growth compared to the conventional method in Petri dishes. Samples of 100 μL bacterial suspension were tested and compared with the traditional sample inoculation method. The device viability was determined by detecting characteristic bacterial colonies in a specific culture medium through the colorimetric development of the obtained colonies. The feasibility assessments allow us to affirm that the device enables both qualitative and quantitative detection of the target bacteria present in liquid samples, and is promising to be applied to assess the quality of water, food and environmental surfaces.
