A review on the best practices in concrete pavement design and materials in wet-freeze climates similar to Michigan

The research presented in this paper aims to identify best practices of design and materials for concrete pavements in wet-freeze climates similar to the Michigan State. For the purposes of this paper, a best practice is a procedure that has been shown by field-validated research or experience to produce improved results and that is established or proposed as a standard suitable for widespread implementation. The local wet-freeze climate makes the requirements for Michigan's pavement system different from many other regions. Wetfreeze climates can result in various concrete pavement distress mechanisms such as thermally-induced cracking, freeze-thaw deterioration, accelerated cracking due to loss of support, frost heave, and material degradation. Therefore, appropriate procedures for design and material selection need to be selected to withstand high precipitation and freezing winter temperatures. Failure to take into account the climatic conditions may lead to inadequate or reduced pavement performance. However, utilizing appropriate techniques and materials could potentially improve the quality and increase the service life of the concrete pavement. Three design methods and five materials have been identified, and examples of their successful performance in wet-freeze climates are provided. In addition, the reasons that give them the superior performance in wet-freeze climates are discussed in detail.

Objective:To determine the prevalence of Coxiella burnetii(***) antibody positive randomly selected dairy herds in southeast Iran(Kerman).Methods:Bulk tank milk samples were collected randomly from 44 sufficiently large commercial dairy herds,included near 12 000 dairy cattle,in Kerman(The largest province of Iran),southeast *** samples were tested for antibodies against *** using the commercial CHEKIT(?) Q fever antibody ELISA Test Kit(Idexx,Liebefeld-Bern,Switzerland).Results:The prevalence of positive,negative and intermediate herds were 45.4%,43.2%and 11.4%,***:The result supports the hypothesis of high prevalence and endemic pattern of Q fever in *** investigation highlights the importance of further studies on Q fever in Iran.

Preparation of a novel supported electrode comprising a nickel(Ⅱ)hydroxide-modified carbon paste electrode(ni(OH)_2-X/CPE)for the electrocatalytic oxidation of formaldehyde

We prepared a novel nickel（II）hydroxide-modified carbon paste electrode（ni（OH）2-X/CPE）for the electrocatalytic oxidation of *** electrode was prepared by a simple method without the use of linking *** prepared ni（OH）2-X/CPE material was characterized by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray *** electrochemical performance of the proposed electrode was investigated using cyclic voltammetry,electrochemical impedance spectroscopy,and *** results indicate that ni（OH）2-X/CPE exhibits good electrocatalytic activity with regards to formaldehyde oxidation owing to its nanoporous structure and the large surface area of zeolite *** values of the electron transfer coefficient and the catalytic rate constant were 0.7 and 6.1 × 104 cm3/（mol·s）,***,the proposed electrode,which showed remarkable electroactivity with regards to formaldehyde oxidation with long-term stability and good reproducibility,could be useful in fuel cells.

The energy market in Libya is expected to face substantial changes in the next few years:electrical energy consumption will increase by 50% within the next 4 ***,there is a plan to gradually increase renewable energy sources in the power network by 2030 to 30%.Solar photovoltaic(PV)plants will play a significant role in the energy transition and the mix of energy sources in *** article is a study conducted to investigate the challenges of power-flow management and power protection from integrating PV power plants into the Libyan power *** particular,a simulation model is built for the Kufra PV power plant(10 MW)with eight buses to assess the power network performance in terms of power quality such as voltage profile,power losses and ***,the impact of the PV plant on the short-circuit level and the power-protection system is presented under different operating *** fault ride-through(FRT)is operated using standard ambient temperature and a wide range of irradiation intensity,and is verified by using the Libyan grid *** results show that the integration of the PV plant into the grid has a significant impact on the short-circuit level and the FRT over the different fault levels and locations on the *** initial period of the three-phase fault shows that the PV plant will be disconnected from the grid due to a decrease in the root mean square value voltages where the reactive and active power of the grid reach 938 MVAR and 261 MW,*** results show that increasing the fault level will lead to an increase in injecting the active *** work is considered the first extensive investigation into the challenges of modern power-flow management and power protection for the power network system in Libya.

Improving performance of flat plate solar collector using nanofluid water/zinc oxide

In this article,the effect of using water/zinc oxide nanofluid as a working fluid on the performance of solar collector is investigated *** volumetric concentration of nanoparticles is 0.4%,and the particle size is 40 nm,and the mass flow rate of the fluid varies from 1 to 3 kg/*** this experiment,a device has been prepared with appropriate measuring instruments whose energy source is solar *** solar energy absorbed by the flat plate collector is absorbed by the nanofluid of water/zinc *** nanofluid is pumped to the consumer,a heat exchanger,where it heats the *** temperature,radiation level,flow rate,and pressure in different parts of the device were *** pressure drop and the heat transferred are the most important results of this experimental *** ASHRAE standard is used to calculate *** results showed that the use of water/zinc oxide nanofluid increases the collector performance compared to *** 1 kg/min of mass flow rate,the nanofluids have a 16% increase in efficiency compared to *** the results,it can be concluded that the choice of optimum mass flow rate in both water and nanofluid cases increases efficiency.

Corrosion Protection of 5083 AA in SalineWater by Polyacrylonitrile Nanofibers

Polymeric nanofibers are a promising technology to protect the metal surfaces from *** the literature search,the use of polyacrylonitrile nanofibres(PANNFs)as a corrosion inhibitor coating for aluminum alloys has not been *** work includes the development of a new,lightweight,high surface area and efficient coating of PANNFs that produced using electrospinning process to resist the corrosion of aluminum alloys(AA5083)which immersed in 0.6 M NaCl at alkaline medium(pH=12)and acidic medium(pH=1)at a range of temperatures(293–323)*** PANNFs coating was successfully deposited on AA 5083 specimens,where these samples were considered as a collector electrode in the electrospinning *** corrosion experiments of the aluminum alloys coated with PANNFs before and after immersion in both corrosive mediums were investigated using cyclic potential polarization(CPP).The results confirmed that the PANNFs coating was able to protect the surface of the aluminum specimens from corrosion,by reducing the corrosion current and increasing the surface polarization resistance,thus reducing the corrosion *** protection efficiency was found in the alkaline medium 98.8%while in the acidic medium 83.3%.So,it was in both mediums decreased with the increase in *** shape,distribution and size of the polymeric nanofibers that formed the coating were also examined using field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM)and the percentages of the structural components of these fibers were detected using the X-ray dispersion spectroscopy(EDS).The surface of aluminum specimens was completely covered by *** electrospun nanofibers have worn out and lined up spacing after immersion in the corrosive *** diameters average of PANNFs was found to be about 200 and 150 nm before and after immersion,respectively.

The Source of Tension in the Measurements of the Hubble Constant

Through an analytical approach, we show that the Hubble constant is not unique and has two distinct values. The first of these values is consistent with the measurements by Riess et al., while the second value is consistent with the measurements by the Planck Collaboration. This is a new alternative approach that does not depend on the standard ΛCDM model and its constraints. Our analysis shows that the tension is due to a geometric mismatch in the comparison of the measurements which is equal to the temporal diameter of the surface of last scattering. Since the calculated values are essentially identical to the corresponding measured values, we conclude that the non-congruency of the ending point of the Riess et al. measurement and the starting point of the Planck Collaboration measurement, on the surface of last scattering, is the source of tension in the measurements. Further, the surprising consistency of the calculated values of the Hubble constant with the corresponding measured values confirms both the extreme fidelity of the measurements and the validity of the proposed approach.

Objective:To evaluate activity of methanol extract of Achillea fragrantissima(meth)(***) alone or in combination with diminazine aceturate(DA) against Trypanosoma evansi in experimentally infected ***:Sixty adult male Wister albino rats were divided equally into 6 groups(A-F).Rats in groups A-E were experimentally infected with *** and those in group F were *** groups were treated respectively as follows:group A- with 3.5 mg/kg DA;group B- with 1 000 mg/kg meth,***;group C-3.5mg/kg DA plus 500 mg/kg meth ***;group D-3.5 mg/kg DA plus 1 000 mg/kg meth *** E was left ***,survivability,packed cell volume,hemoglobin concentration,total leucocytes count,lymphocyte count,and serum malondialdehyde and reduced glutathione(GSH) levels were *** screening of meth *** was also ***:The phytochemical analysis of the meth *** indicated a higher content from polyphenols tannins and non tannins and *** efficacy percentage against trypanosomiasis in groups A to E was respectively as follows 80,40,90.100,*** administration of ***(1000)mg/kg ***.) produced a moderate efficacy against *** rats in group E died between 25 and 30 d post *** rats given DA and meth *** combinations(C and D) showed faster and higher recovery rates than the uninfected control and groups A and *** initial reduction in packed cell volume,hemoglobin,total leucocytes count,increases in serum malondialdehyde and decreases in GSH levels were reversed by the treatments.C onclusions:The administration of the methanol extracts of *** and DA combination therapy was more effective than each product alone in the treatment of rats infected with Trypanosoma evansi and further studies are required to isolate more active ingredients.
