Spectroscopy is a widely used experimental technique,and enhancing its efficiency can have a strong impact on materials *** propose an adaptive design for spectroscopy experiments that uses a machine learning technique to improve *** examined X-ray magnetic circular dichroism(XMCD)spectroscopy for the applicability of a machine learning technique to *** XMCD spectrum was predicted by Gaussian process modelling with learning of an experimental spectrum using a limited number of observed data *** sampling of data points with maximum variance of the predicted spectrum successfully reduced the total data points for the evaluation of magnetic moments while providing the required *** present method reduces the time and cost for XMCD spectroscopy and has potential applicability to various spectroscopies.

We report on an all-solid-state battery that employs a closo-type complex hydride solid electrolyte and a LiCoO2 *** modification between the solid electrolyte and cathode with a LiNbO3 buffer layer enables reversible charge-discharge cycling with a cell voltage of 3.9V (***^+/Li) at room *** analyses clarify that the given modification effectively suppresses side reactions at the cathode/solid electrolyte *** interfacial resistance is lowered by ca.10 times with a 5 nm thick LiNbO3 buffer layer compared to that without a buffer layer,so that a discharge capacity of 109 mAh g^-1 is *** results suggest that interfacial modification can be a viable approach to the development of high-voltage all-solid-state batteries using closo-type complex hydride solid electrolytes and oxide cathodes.

A novel technique to determine the position of spacecraft orbits is proposed. The technique is based on the cross-correlation function of HF SAR images and is able to determine the relative position of orbits with an accuracy of - λ/4 or better, where 2 is the wavelength of the HF radar pulse at its center frequency. The performance of the proposed technique was confirmed by simulation which was carried out under the condition of design facts of the SELENE LRS mission. The highly accurate orbit positioning enables precise superposition of HF SAR images so that the inherent mirror image ambiguity problem of HF SAR imaging is resolved to obtain a quality SAR image of the HF band. In addition ambitious 2D-SAR processing would be possible when the above accuracy is available.

Silica glass is the most indispensable material in optical communication applications due to its superior optical *** transmission loss of silica glass has been reduced over the past 30 years by continuous efforts toward decreasing density fluctuations by lowering of fictive temperature,e.g.,through improvements in processing or doping.A recent study has shown that shrinkage of structural voids by hot compression is a promising way to further decrease the ***,an atomic understanding of the pressure effect is still ***,using molecular simulations,we connect the void shrinkage to topological pruning of silica *** physical models predict that the Rayleigh scattering loss of pressure-quenched silica glass can be reduced by>50%when the glass is quenched at an appropriate pressure(4 GPa in our simulation).Our studies are consistent with available experimental results and demonstrate topologically optimized structure can give desirable properties for optical applications of silica as well as other glasses with similar network structure.

Because of the low prevalence of non-ampullary duodenal epithelial tumors(NADETs),standardized clinical management of sporadic superficial NADETs,including diagnosis,treatment,and follow-up,has not yet been *** studies have revealed certain endoscopic findings suggestive of *** adenoma with high-grade dysplasia and mucosal cancer are candidates for local resection by endoscopic or minimally invasive *** use of endoscopic treatment including endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR)and endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD),for the treatment for superficial NADETs is *** requires multiple sessions to achieve complete remission and repetitive endoscopy is needed after *** provides an excellent complete resection rate,however it remains a challenging method,considering the high risk of intraoperative or delayed *** invasive surgery such as wedge resection and pancreas-sparing duodenectomy are beneficial for superficial NADETs that are technically difficult to remove by endoscopic *** remains a standard surgical procedure for treatment of duodenal cancer with submucosal invasion,which presents a risk of lymph node *** or surgical treatment outcomes of superficial NADETs without submucosal invasion are *** an endoscopic diagnostic tool to differentiate superficial NADETs between adenoma and cancer as well as between mucosal and submucosal cancer is required to select the most appropriate treatment.

Ion beam irradiation was adopted for surface treatment of the micro punch manufactured by precision *** plasma was used for the ion irradiation process,which was generated by the electron cyclotron resonance(ECR)*** surface finish processes of micro punch were carried out at irradiation angles of 45°and 10°,*** surface roughness and topography were measured to estimate the quality of surface *** results show that the ion irradiation is very effective to reduce the surface roughness,which can be improved more significantly at irradiation angle of 10°than at 45°.The technology of surface finish with ion beam irradiation is suitable for the surface treatment of micro die.

To analyze the molecular events that occur in the developing mandible, we examined the expression of 8803 genes from samples taken at different time points during rat postnatal mandible development. Total RNA was extracted from the mandibles of 1-day-old, 1-week-old, and 2-week-old rats. Complementary RNA (cRNA) was synthesized from cDNA and biotinylated. Fragmented cRNA was hybridized to RGU34A GeneChip arrays. Among the 8803 genes tested, 4344 were detectable. We identified 148 genes with significantly increased expression, and 19 genes with significantly decreased expression. A comprehensive analysis appears to be an effective method of studying the complex process of development.
