Neutralizing CSF1 in vivo completely prevents ovariectomy （OVX）-induced bone loss in mice. There are two isoforms of CSF1, soluble （sCSF1）, and membrane-bound （mCSF1）, but their individual biological functions are unclear. It had been previously reported that mCSF1 knockout （K/O） and wild type （Wt） female mice experience the same degree of bone loss following OVX. In Wt mice the expression of sCSF1 was elevated fourfold in skeletal tissue following OVX while expression of mCSF1 was unchanged. To examine the role of sCSF1 in OVX-induced bone loss, mice were engineered in which sCSF1 was not expressed but expression of mCSF1 was unaffected （sCSF1 K/O）. Isoform-specific reverse transcription PCR confirmed the absence of transcripts for sCSF1 in bone tissue isolated from these animals and no circulating CSF1 was detected by ELISA. Surprisingly, there were no significant differences in bone mineral density （BMD） between sCSF1 K/O mice and Wt controls as assessed by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry and micro-CT. However, one month after OVX, femoral, spinal and total BMD had declined by 11.2%, 8.9%, and 8.7% respectively in OVX-Wt animals as compared to Sham-OVX. In contrast OVX sCSF1 K/O mice showed changes of ＋0.1%, - 2.4%, and ＋2.3% at the same 3 sites compared to Sham-OVX sCSF1 K/O mice. These data indicate important non-redundant functions for the two isoforms of CSF1 and suggest that sCSF1, but not mCSF1, plays a key role in estrogen-deficiency bone loss.

Parallel computing has become an important subject in the field of computer science and has proven to be critical when researching high performance *** evolution of computer architectures(multi-core and many-core)towards a higher number of cores can only confirm that parallelism is the method of choice for speeding up an *** the last decade,the graphics processing unit,or GPU,has gained an important place in the field of high performance computing(HPC)because of its low cost and massive parallel processing ***-computing has become,for the first time,available to anyone at the price of a desktop *** this paper,we survey the concept of parallel computing and especially GPU *** efficient parallel algorithms for the GPU is not a trivial task,there are several technical restrictions that must be satisfied in order to achieve the expected *** of these limitations are consequences of the underlying architecture of the GPU and the theoretical models behind *** goal is to present a set of theoretical and technical concepts that are often required to understand the GPU and its massive parallelism *** particular,we show how this new technology can help the field of computational physics,especially when the problem is *** present four examples of computational physics problems;n-body,collision detection,Potts model and cellular automata *** examples well represent the kind of problems that are suitable for GPU *** understanding the GPU architecture and its massive parallelism programming model,one can overcome many of the technical limitations found along the way,design better GPU-based algorithms for computational physics problems and achieve speedups that can reach up to two orders of magnitude when compared to sequential implementations.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is the most common liver disease in the United *** the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases guidelines define NAFLD as hepatic steatosis detected either on histology or imaging without a secondary cause of abnormal hepatic fat accumulation,no imaging modality is recommended as standard of care for screening or *** ultrasound has been evaluated as a non-invasive method of diagnosing NAFLD with the presence of characteristic sonographic *** studies suggest characteristic sonographic findings for NAFLD include bright hepatic echoes,increased hepatorenal echogenicity,vascular blurring of portal or hepatic vein and subcutaneous tissue *** sonographic characteristics have not been shown to aid bedside clinicians easily identify potential cases of *** sonographic findings such as attenuation of image,diffuse echogenicity,uniform heterogeneous liver,thick subcutaneous depth,and enlarged liver filling of the entire field could be identifiedby clinicians from bedside *** accessibility,ease of use,and low-side effect profile of ultrasound make bedside ultrasound an appealing imaging modality in the detection of hepatic *** used with appropriate clinical risk factors and steatosis involves greater than 33%of the liver,ultrasound can reliably diagnose *** the ability of ultrasound in detecting moderate hepatic steatosis,it cannot replace liver biopsy in staging the degree of *** purpose of this review is to examine the diagnostic accuracy,utility,and limitations of ultrasound in the diagnosis of NAFLD and its potential use by clinicians in routine practices.

The increased incidence of systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)in recent decades might be related to changes in modern dietary *** sodium chloride(NaCl)promotes pathogenic T cell responses,we hypothesize that excessive salt intake contributes to the increased incidence of autoimmune diseases,including *** the importance of dendritic cells(DCs)in the pathogenesis of SLE,we explored the influence of an excessive sodium chloride diet on DCs in a murine SLE *** used an induced lupus model in which bone marrow-derived dendritic cells(BMDCs)were incubated with activated lymphocyte-derived DNA(ALD-DNA)and transferred into C57BL/6 recipient *** observed that a high-salt diet(HSD)markedly exacerbated lupus progression,which was accompanied by increased DC *** treatment also stimulated the maturation,activation and antigenpresenting ability of DCs in *** of BMDCs with NaCl also exacerbated BMDC-ALD-DNA-induced *** mice had increased production of autoantibodies and proinflammatory cytokines,more pronounced splenomegaly and lymphadenopathy,and enhanced pathological renal *** p38 MAPK–STAT1 pathway played an important role in NaClinduced DC immune *** together,our results demonstrate that HSD intake promotes immune activation of DCs through the p38 MAPK–STAT1 signaling pathway and exacerbates the features of ***,changes in diet may provide a novel strategy for the prevention or amelioration of lupus or other autoimmune diseases.

A new locality bearing ichnofossils of the Cruziana Assemblage Zone-Ⅲ from the Mussoorie syncline,Lesser Himalaya,is located in rocks of Member-B of the Dhaulagiri Formation,Tal Group,exposed along the Maldewta-Chhimoli fresh road cut *** site yielded ichnofossils Bergaueria perata,Cochlichnus anguineus,？Diplocraterion isp.,Dimorphichnus obliquus,diplichnitiform Cruziana bonariensis,Diplichnites gouldi,Glockeria isp.,Helminthopsis isp.,Monomorphichnus lineatus,Phycodes palmatum,Palaeophycus striatus,Planolites beverleyensis,Planolites montanus,Treptichnus ***,scratch marks and an undetermined worm *** Early Cambrian age （Cambrian Series 2） is assigned to the ichnofossil-bearing strata based on the stratigraphic position between the Drepanuroides and Palaeoolenus trilobite zones.A revised Cambrian ichnofossil zonation is presented for the Tal Group of the Mussoorie *** with their occurrence on rippled surfaces,and the lateral displacement of some trackways （due to current action）,a sub-aqueous shallow-marine depositional setting is proposed for the rocks of Member-B.

AIM:To examine the relative prevalence and temporal variation of dysphagia etiologies in patients undergoing upper endoscopy(EGD) over the past ***:EGDs with the indication of dysphagia at an urban,university medical center in 1999,2004 and 2009 were retrospectively identified from the electronic medical *** entire patient chart,including EGD,pathology,manometry,radiographic and clinician reports,was reviewed for demographic and clinical data and to determine the etiology of *** number of EGDs in which an esophageal biopsy was performed was also *** reflux disease(GERD) as a cause of dysphagia independent of peptic stricture was defined by symptoms with erosive esophagitis or symptom response to proton pump inhibition(PPI).Cases of eosinophilic esophagitis(EoE) were defined by an appropriate clinical history and histological criteria of ≥ 15 eosinophils per high powered ***-responsive esophageal eosinophilia was not routinely reported prior to *** analysis was performed using one-way analysis of variance to analyze for trends between 1999,2004 and 2009 and a post-hoc Tukey analysis was performed following a significant main ***:A total of 1371 cases(mean age 54 years,43% male) met pre-specified inclusion criteria with 191,504 and 675 cases in 1999,2004 and 2009,*** were older in 2004 compared to 2009(mean ± SD,54.0 ± 15.7 years vs 52.3 ± 16.8 years,P = 0.02) and there were more males in 1999 compared to 2004(57.5% vs 40.8%,P = 0.005).Overall,GERD(27.6%) and EoE(7.7%) were the most common identifiable causes of *** unspecified diagnosis accounted for 21% of overall *** were no significant differences in the relative prevalence of achalasia or other motility disorders,peptic stricture,Schatzki's ring,esophageal cancer or unspecified diagnoses over the 10-year time *** was,however,a decrease in the relative prevalence of GERD(39.3% vs 24.1%,P < 0.001

Background：Research has been conducted linking sports participation and health in childhood and adolescence;however,little is known about the contribution of sport to women＇s *** purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between sport and women＇s health in the USA by analyzing data from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System（BRFSS）.Methods：This study was a secondary data analysis of the 2013 national BRFSS *** the BRFSS core component from previous years,in2013,participants were questioned extensively about their physical activity ***-six different activities were identifie by the *** researchers categorized the 76 activities as sport,conditioning exercise,recreation,or household tasks based on previously identifie *** regression was utilized to calculate odds ratios and adjusted odds ratios for chronic diseases based on physical activity ***：Women who participated in sport had better health outcomes with significant y lower odds for all chronic diseases except asthma and better general health than women who participated in conditioning exercise,household tasks,or recreation,and many of the significan differences remained after controlling for demographic ***：Sport participation was associated with more positive health outcomes among women in the USA compared with the other *** a means to improve health of women,the USA could focus on efforts to increase sport participation among women.
