Deficits in synaptic transmission and plasticity are thought to contribute to the pathophysiology of Alzheimer's disease(AD)and Parkinson's disease(PD).Several brain stimulation techniques are currently available to assess or modulate human neuroplasticity,which could offer clinically useful interventions as well as quantitative diagnostic and prognostic *** this review,we discuss several brain stimulation techniques,with a special emphasis on transcranial magnetic stimulation and deep brain stimulation(DBS),and review the results of clinical studies that applied these techniques to examine or modulate impaired neuroplasticity at the local and network levels in patients with AD or *** impaired neuroplasticity can be detected in patients at the earlier and later stages of both neurodegenerative ***,current brain stimulation techniques,with a notable exception of DBS for PD treatment,cannot serve as adequate clinical tools to assist in the diagnosis,treatment,or prognosis of individual patients with AD or *** the impaired neuroplasticity with improved brain stimulation techniques could offer a powerful novel approach for the treatment of AD and PD.

Synaptic associativity, a feature of Hebbian plasticity wherein coactivation of two inputs onto the same neuron produces synergistic actions on postsynaptic activity, is a primary cellular correlate of associative learning. However, whether and how synaptic associativity are implemented into context-dependent relapse of extinguished memory(i.e. fear renewal) is unknown. Here, using an auditory fear conditioning paradigm in mice, we show that fear renewal is determined by the associativity between convergent inputs from the auditory cortex(ACx) and ventral hippocampus(v HPC) onto the lateral amygdala(LA) that reactivate ensembles engaged during learning. Fear renewal enhances synaptic strengths of both ACx to LA and the previously unknown v HPC to LA monosynaptic inputs. While inactivating either of the afferents abolishes fear renewal, optogenetic activation of their input associativity in the LA recapitulates fear renewal. Thus, input associativity underlies fear memory renewal.

Due to the mechanical stability of PP layer,the PP/HDPE double-layer microporous mem brane could be prepared at a higher heat-setting temperatu re than that of PE monolayer *** this work,the effects of heat-setting temperature on the pore structure and properties of PP/HDPE dou ble-layer membrane were *** the increase of heat-setting temperature from 120℃to 130℃,the length of connecting bridge crystal and crystallinity in the PE layer increase due to the melting of thin lamellae and the stability of connecting bridge structure during *** corresponding air permeability,po rosity,wetta bility of liquid electrolyte and mechanical property of the heat-set microporous membrane increase,exhibiting better electrochemical ***,when the heat-setting temperature is further increased to 140℃,higher than the melting point of PE resin,some pores are closed since the lamellae and connecting bridges melt and shrink during heat-setting,resulting in a decrease of air permeability and *** contrast,there is negligible change in the PP layer within the above heat-setting temperature *** study successfully builds the relationship between the stable pore structure and property of microporous membrane during heat-setting,which is helpful to guide the production of high-pe rformance PP/PE/PP lithium batteries separator.

The off-stoichiometric iron-based phosphate(Na_(3.12)Fe_(2.44)(P_(2)O_(7))_(2),denoted as Na3.12)as a low cost and high structure stability cathode material has been widely studied for sodium-ion batteries(SIBs).However,the lower theoretical specific capacity(117 mAh·g^(-1))has seriously limited its practical *** this work,we incorporate varying proportion of sodium-iron phosphate(NaFePO_(4))into the Na3.12 to form a series of new high specific capacity mixed-phosphates Na_(3.12+x)Fe_(2.44+x)(P_(2)O_(7))_(2)(PO_(4))x cathode materials for *** optimizing the introduction amount of NaFePO_(4)into Na_(3.12),the practical reversible of Na_(3.12+x)Fe_(2.44+x)(P_(2)O_(7))_(2)(PO_(4))_(x) increased from 92 to 125.2 mAh·g^(-1).The nano-size Na5.12Fe4.44(P_(2)O_(7))_(2)(PO_(4))_(2) cathode material shows a reversible specific capacity of 125.2 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.1 C in *** at 60 C,it still exhibits a reversible specific capacity of 93.3 mAh·g^(-1)and keeps a capacity retention ratio of 87%after 3000 cycles at 20 ***,we present a novel approach to design a series of off-stoichiometric mixed-phosphates cathode materials for SIBs.

Background Neuropsychiatric symptoms(NPS)such as depression,anxiety,apathy,and irritability occur in prodromal phases of clinical Alzheimer’s disease(AD),which might be an increased risk for later developing *** we treated young APP/PS1 AD model mice prophylactically with serotonin-selective re-uptake inhibitor(SSRI)paroxetine and investigated the protective role of anti-depressant agent in emotional abnormalities and cognitive defects during disease *** To investigate the protective role of paroxetine in emotional abnormalities and cognitive defects during disease progress,we performed emotional behaviors of 3 months old APP/PS1 mouse following oral administration of paroxetine prophylactically starting at 1 month of ***,we tested the cognitive,biochemical and pathological,effects of long term administration of paroxetine at 6 months *** Our results showed that AD mice displayed emotional dysfunction in the early *** administration of paroxetine ameliorated the initial emotional abnormalities and preserved the eventual memory function in AD *** Our data indicate that prophylactic administration of paroxetine ameliorates the emotional dysfunction and memory deficit in AD *** neuroprotective effects are attributable to functional restoration of glutamate receptor(GluN2A)in AD mice.

MOF-derived 1D CGO Cathode for Efficient Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cells

Solid oxide electrolysis cells(SOECs)provide a promising way for converting renewable energy into chemical ***,NiO/CGO(nickel-gadolinium doped ceria)cermet has shown its excellent properties in ionic and electronic conductivity under reducing ***,we developed a novel 1D NiO/CGO cathode through a cerium metal-organic framework(MOF)derived *** cathode’s 1D nanostructure integrated with a microchannel scaffold facilitates enhanced mass transport,providing vertically aligned pathways for CO_(2)and H_(2)O ***,the 1D framework increases the number of interfacial sites and reduces ion diffusion distances,thereby simplifying electron/ion ***,this advanced cathode achieved a significant breakthrough in SOEC performance,maintaining efficient CO_(2)and H_(2)O electrolysis at an extraordinary current density of 1.41 A/cm^(2)at 1.5 V and excellent stability over 24 h at 850℃.The enhanced performance of this newly developed cathode not only achieves a remarkable 100%improvement compared to those of NiO/CGO cathodes with varying geometrical configurations but also surpasses those of commercial NiO/CGO catalysts by an outstanding 40%when tested under identical *** development of the 1D NiO/CGO enhances the efficiency and durability of ceramic cathodes for CO_(2)and H_(2)O co-electrolysis in SOECs and improves the scalability and effectiveness of SOECs in renewable energy applications.

Sufficient survey data are required to describe the stochastic behaviors of live ***,due to manual and on-site operation required by traditional survey methods,traditional surveys face challenges like occupant resistance,high costs,and long implementation *** study proposes a new survey method to access live load data online and *** samples are acquired from multi-source,open-access and dynamically updated data on the *** change intervals,geometrical dimensions and object quantities are obtained from transaction information,building attributes and virtual reality models on real estate websites,*** object weights are collected from commodity information on e-commerce *** integration of the aforementioned data allows for the extraction of necessary statistics to describe a live load *** proposed method is applied to a live load survey in China,covering 20040 m^(2),with around 90000 samples acquired for object weights and load *** survey results reveal that about 70%−80%of the amplitude statistics are attributable to 1/6 of the total object types.

Perspective of Calcium Imaging Technology Applied to Acupuncture Research

Acupuncture, a therapeutic treatment defined as the insertion of needles into the body at specific points(ie, acupoints), has growing in popularity world-wide to treat various diseases effectively, especially acute and chronic pain. In parallel, interest in the physiological mechanisms underlying acupuncture analgesia, particularly the neural mechanisms have been increasing. Over the past decades, our understanding of how the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system process signals induced by acupuncture has developed rapidly by using electrophysiological methods. However, with the development of neuroscience, electrophysiology is being challenged by calcium imaging in view field, neuron population and visualization in vivo. Owing to the outstanding spatial resolution, the novel imaging approaches provide opportunities to enrich our knowledge about the neurophysiological mechanisms of acupuncture analgesia at subcellular, cellular, and circuit levels in combination with new labeling, genetic and circuit tracing techniques. Therefore, this review will introduce the principle and the method of calcium imaging applied to acupuncture research. We will also review the current findings in pain research using calcium imaging from in vitro to in vivo experiments and discuss the potential methodological considerations in studying acupuncture analgesia.
