Besides amplitude, frequency and phase, the polarization is another basic property of the electromagnetic wave. In the remote sensing field, the polarization is mainly applied in active detection systems of radar and lidar. This paper presents the quantitative relationship between soil moisture and polarization signatures in a certain type of soil in a farm. And this relationship is expected to be introduced on agriculture and hydrology ultimately. The experiments were performed both in the laboratory and the field. Soil samples with different moisture contents were measured at three wavebands on visible spectrum, and at several viewing angles in the plane of incidence. The polarization signature was indicated by the multi-band and multi-angle degree of linear polarization (DOLP) in this paper. The soil moisture were divided into five levels according to the properties of DOLP curves, namely, the quasi-quantitative relationship between soil moisture and its polarization signature were established. The percentages of soil moisture of the five levels are: ≤10%, 10%-20%, 20%-40%, 40%-56% and >56%, respectively. Although this division for soil moisture is on a rather large scale, it will meet the precision of application agricultural and hydrologic remote sensing.

The upper bound limit analysis(UBLA)is one of the key research directions in geotechnical engineering and is widely used in engineering *** assumes that the slip surface with the minimum factor of safety(FSmin)is the critical slip surface,and then applies it to slope stability ***,the hypothesis of UBLA has not been systematically verified,which may be due to the fact that the traditional numerical method is difficult to simulate the large *** this study,in order to systematically verify the assumption of UBLA,material point method(MPM),which is suitable to simulate the large deformation of continuous media,is used to simulate the whole process of the slope failure,including the large-scale transportation and deposition of soil mass after slope *** a series of comparative studies are conducted on the stability of cohesive slopes using UBLA and *** proposed study indicated that the slope angle,internal friction angle and cohesion have a remarkable effect on the slip surface of the cohesive ***,for stable slopes,the calculation results of the two are relatively ***,for unstable slopes,the slider volume determined by the UBLA is much smaller than the slider volume determined by the *** other words,for unstable slopes,the critical slip surface of UBLA is very different from the slip surface when the slope failure occurs,and when the UBLA is applied to the stability analysis of unstable slope,it will lead to extremely unfavorable results.

We investigate the size effect and boundary states based on a circular non-Hermitian chain under the nonreciprocal intra-cell coupling and inter-cell coupling *** find that the circular non-Hermitian chain exhibits an even–odd effect on the unit cell corresponding to a large chain,which is different from the open non-Hermitian chain only exhibiting the same effect for a small ***,we find that the originally localized bulk states become totally extended via designing the boundary coupling strength *** extended bulk states reveal the fact of the disappearance of the non-Hermitian skin *** particular,we show that the circular non-Hermitian chain also possesses the analogous edge states under some parameter regimes,which is pretty counterintuitive since the circular chain usually cannot define a *** investigations supply the different non-Hermitian phenomena in a circular non-Hermitian chain.

Norovirus(NoV)infection is a major cause of gastroenteritis *** virus poses great challenges in developing vaccines with broad immune protection due to its genetic and antigenic *** date,there are no approved NoV vaccines for clinical ***,we aimed to develop a broad-acting quadrivalent NoV vaccine based on a chimpanzee adenovirus vector,AdC68,carrying the major capsid protein(VP1)of noroviral GI and GII *** to intramuscular(i.m.),intranasal(i.n.),or other prime-boost immunization regimens(i.m.t i.m.,i.m.t i.n.,i.n.t i.m.),AdC68-GI.1-GII.3(E1)-GII.4-GII.17(E3),administered via i.n.t *** higher titers of serum IgG antibodies and higher IgA antibodies in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF)and saliva against the four homologous VP1s in *** also significantly stimulated the production of blocking antibodies against the four *** response to re-stimulation with virus-like particles(VLP)-GI.1,VLP-GII.3,VLP-GII.4,and VLP-GII.17,the quadrivalent vaccine administered according to the i.n.t *** effectively triggered specific cell-mediated immune responses,primarily characterized by IFN-γ***,the preparation of this novel quadrivalent NoV vaccine requires only a single recombinant adenovirus to provide broad preventive immunity against the major GI/GII epidemic strains,making it a promising vaccine candidate for further development.

Summary:Renal cancer is a common genitourinary malignance,of which clear cell renal cell carcinoma(ccRCC)has high aggressiveness and leads to most cancer-related *** of sensitive and reliable biomarkers for predicting tumorigenesis and progression has great significance in guiding the diagnosis and treatment of ***,we identified 2397 common difTerentially expressed genes(DEGs)using paired normal and tumor ccRCC tissues from GSE53757 and The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA).Then,we performed weighted gene co-expression network analysis and protein-protein interaction network analysis,17 candidate hub genes were *** candidate hub genes were further validated in GSE36895 and Oncomine database and 14 real hub genes were *** the hub genes were up-regulated and significantly positively correlated with pathological stage and histologic grade of *** analysis showed that the higher expression level of each hub gene tended to predict a worse clinical *** analysis showed that all the hub genes can accurately distinguish between tumor and normal samples,and between early stage and advanced stage ***,all the hub genes were positively associated with distant metastasis,lymph node infiltration,tumor recurrence and the expression of MKi67,suggesting these genes might promote tumor proliferation,invasion and ***,the functional annotation demonstrated that most genes were enriched in cell-cycle related biological *** summary,our study identified 14 potential biomarkers for predicting tumorigenesis and progression,which might contribute to early diagnosis,prognosis prediction and therapeutic intervention.

BACKGROUND Low-grade fever during convalescence is an atypical symptom of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Reports of such cases are rare,and the mechanism and outcome of low-grade fever during COVID-19 convalescence are not completely *** report 3 cases with low-grade fever during COVID-19 convalescence and highlight the main clinical,radiographic,and laboratory characteristics,thereby increasing the level of expertise in the clinical management of COVID-19 during convalescence and facilitating individualized *** SUMMARY We describe 3 patients with COVID-19,two females aged 62 and 66 years and a male 55 years,who had low-grade fever during COVID-19 *** 3 patients had no other discomfort or comorbidities during low-grade *** on computed tomography in all 3 patients had resolved during this *** patients tested negative on two consecutive severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 tests with an interval of at least 24 h between *** temperature in all 3 patients returned to normal after several days without treatment,and fever recurrence was not *** Enhancing the knowledge of low-grade fever during COVID-19 convalescence may increase the expertise in the delivery of optimal healthcare services.

Large-scale epidemiological studies have found that hyperhomocysteinemia is a powerful, independent risk factor for Alzheimer＇s disease. Trillium tschonoskii maxim is a traditional Chinese medicine that is used to promote memory. However, scientific understanding of its mechanism of action is limited. This report studied the potential neuroprotective effects of Trillium tschonoskii maxim extract against homocysteine-induced cognitive deficits. Rats were intravenously injected with homocysteine（400 μg/kg） for 14 days to induce a model of Alzheimer＇s disease. These rats were then intragastrically treated with Trillium tschonoskii maxim extract（0.125 or 0.25 g/kg） for 7 consecutive days. Open field test and Morris water maze test were conducted to measure spontaneous activity and learning and memory abilities. Western blot assay was used to detect the levels of Tau protein and other factors involved in Tau phosphorylation in the hippocampus. Immunohistochemical staining was used to examine Tau protein in the hippocampus. Golgi staining was applied to measure hippocampal dendritic spines. Our results demonstrated that homocysteine produced learning and memory deficits and increased levels of Tau phosphorylation, and diminished the activity of catalytic protein phosphatase 2A. The total number of hippocampal dendritic spines was also decreased. Trillium tschonoskii maxim extract treatment reversed the homocysteine-induced changes. The above results suggest that Trillium tschonoskii maxim extract can lessen homocysteine-induced abnormal Tau phosphorylation and improve cognitive deterioration such as that present in Alzheimer＇s disease.
