Bilayer borophene:an efficient catalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction

The electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction is a crucial technique for green hydrogen production.However,finding affordable,stable,and efficient catalyst materials to replace noble metal catalysts remains a significant challenge.Recent experimental breakthroughs in the synthesis of two-dimensional bilayer borophene provide a theoretical framework for exploring their physical and chemical properties.In this study,we systematically considered nine types of bilayer borophenes as potential electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction.Our first-principles calculations revealed that bilayer borophenes exhibit high stability and excellent conductivity,possessing a relatively large specific surface area with abundant active sites.Both surface boron atoms and the bridge sites between two boron atoms can serve as active sites,displaying high activity for the hydrogen evolution reaction.Notably,the Gibbs free energy change associated with adsorption for these bilayer borophenes can reach as low as−0.002 eV,and the Tafel reaction energy barriers are lower(0.70 eV)than those on Pt.Moreover,the hydrogen evolution reaction activity of these two-dimensional bilayer borophenes can be described by engineering their work function.Additionally,we considered the effect of pH on hydrogen evolution reaction activity,with significant activity observed in an acidic environment.These theoretical results reveal the excellent catalytic performance of two-dimensional bilayer borophenes and provide crucial guidance for the experimental exploration of multilayer boron for various energy applications.

Xuebijing improves intestinal microcirculation dysfunction in septic rats by regulating the VEGF-A/PI3K/Akt signaling pathway

BACKGROUND:This study aims to explore whether Xuebijing(XBJ) can improve intestinal microcirculation dysfunction in sepsis and its mechanism.METHODS:A rat model of sepsis was established by cecal ligation and puncture(CLP).A total of 30 male SD rats were divided into four groups:sham group,CLP group,XBJ + axitinib group,and XBJ group.XBJ was intraperitoneally injected 2 h before CLP.Hemodynamic data(blood pressure and heart rate) were recorded.The intestinal microcirculation data of the rats were analyzed via microcirculation imaging.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) kits were used to detect the serum levels of interleukin-6(IL-6),C-reactive protein(CRP),and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) in the rats.Histological analysis and transmission electron microscopy were used to analyze the injury of small intestinal microvascular endothelial cells and small intestinal mucosa in rats.The expression of vascular endothelial growth factor A(VEGF-A),phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3K),phosphorylated PI3K(p-PI3K),protein kinase B(Akt),and phosphorylated Akt(p-Akt) in the small intestine was analyzed via Western blotting.RESULTS:XBJ improved intestinal microcirculation dysfunction in septic rats,alleviated the injury of small intestinal microvascular endothelial cells and small intestinal mucosa,and reduced the systemic inflammatory response.Moreover,XBJ upregulated the expression of VEGF-A,p-PI3K/total PI3K,and p-Akt/total Akt in the rat small intestine.CONCLUSION:XBJ may improve intestinal microcirculation dysfunction in septic rats possibly through the VEGF-A/PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.

Silting Objects over the Stable Monomorphism Category of Higher Differential Objects

Higher differential objects are investigated and used for addressing three gen-eral problems.Torsionless differential modules over path algebras are characterized.The adjoint triples between triangulated categories,involving derived categories and singularity categories,are allowed to be constructed from those between the abelian categories C and C[ε]^(n).The partial silting properties between an abelian category C and C[ε]^(n)are trans-ferred,and if moreover,C is Frobenius,the partial silting objects of the stable monomor-phism categories of C[ε]^(n)are constructed from those of C.

Numerical study of effect of post injection coupled with EGR on combustion and emission performances of CRDI engine fueled with biodiesel-ethanol blends

Energy shortage and environmental pollution are becoming more serious,biodiesel is regarded as the most promising alternative fuel for diesel engines due to its environmentally friendly and renewable characteristics.In this study,the biodiesel-ethanol blends were used in a diesel engine,and the purpose of the study was to simultaneously control the NOx and soot emissions of the diesel engine by adjusting the injection strategy and EGR rate.A turbocharged,six-cylinder,common rail direct injection(CRDI)engine model was established using GT-Power.The effects of the main-post injection strategy and post injection coupled with exhaust gas recirculation(EGR)on combustion and emission characteristics were investigated at a maximum torque speed and a medium load.The results show that when the main-post injection strategy is employed,the combustion duration of the main injection is shortened with an increase in the main-post injection interval(MPI).When the MPI increased to more than 18℃A,the heat release of post injection could be observed clearly from the curve of the heat release rate,NOx emissions decreased by 5.70%and 7.12%,respectively,and soot emissions decreased by 25.56%and 30.20%,respectively.Moreover,with the increasing post injection quantity,the combustion duration of the main injection shortened,and the peak heat release rate(PHRR)of the post injection increased.When the fuel quantity for the post injection increased from 2 to 6 mg,NOx emissions decreased from 2.33%to 9.80%,and soot emissions decreased from 16.10%to 34.97%.The effect of post injection quantity on emissions was more significant than that of the MPI.In addition,with increasing EGR rate,the ignition delay is prolonged,the peak cylinder pressure,PHRR,peak combustion temperature and NOx emissions decrease,whereas soot emissions increase gradually.Main-post injection can improve the NO-soot trade-off,the optimal EGR rate is 22.86%under a post injection quantity of 4 mg and a MPI of 22℃A.

Marginal zone lymphoma with severe rashes: A case report

BACKGROUND Marginal zone lymphoma(MZL)is an indolent subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma(NHL),which is rare clinically with severe rashes as the initial symptom.CASE SUMMARY This study reports a case of MZL with generalized skin rashes accompanied by pruritus and purulent discharge.First-line treatment with rituximab combined with zanubrutinib had poor effects.However,after switching to obinutuzumab combined with zanubrutinib,the case was alleviated,and the rashes disappeared.CONCLUSION For patients with advanced stage MZL not benefiting from type I anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody(mAb)combination therapy,switching to a type II anti-CD20 mAb combination regimen may be considered.This approach may provide a new perspective in the treatment of MZL.

Exopolysaccharides of Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG ameliorate Salmonella typhimurium-induced intestinal inflammation via the TLR4/NF-κB/MAPK pathway

Background Salmonella typhimurium(S.T),as an important foodborne bacterial pathogen,can cause diarrhea and gastroenteritis in humans and animals.Numerous studies have confirmed that exopolysaccharides(EPSs)have various biological functions,but the mechanism through which EPSs improve the immunity of animals against the invasion of pathogenic bacteria is unclear.Here,we explored the protective effect of EPSs of Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG(LGG)on the S.T-infected intestine.Methods Mice received adequate food and drinking water for one week before the start of the experiment.After 7 d of prefeeding,2×108 CFU/mL S.T solution and an equivalent volume of saline(control group)were given orally for 1 d.On the fourth day,the mice were treated with 0.5 mg/mL EPSs,1.0 mg/mL EPSs,2.0 mg/mL EPSs,or 2.0 mg/mL penicillin for 7 d.Finally,the body and relative organ weight,histological staining,and the levels of antioxidant enzyme activity and inflammatory cytokines were determined.Results The S.T-infected mice exhibited symptoms of decreased appetite,somnolence,diarrhea and flagging spirit.Treatment with EPSs and penicillin improved the weight loss of the mice,and the high dose of EPSs showed the best therapeutic effect.EPSs significantly ameliorated S.T-induced ileal injury in mice.High-dose EPSs were more effective than penicillin for alleviating ileal oxidative damage induced by S.T.The mRNA levels of inflammatory cytokines in the ileum of mice showed that the regulatory effects of EPSs on inflammatory cytokines were better than those of penicillin.EPSs could inhibit the expression and activation of key proteins of the TLR4/NF-κB/MAPK pathway and thereby suppress the level of S.T-induced ileal inflammation.Conclusions EPSs attenuate S.T-induced immune responses by inhibiting the expression of key proteins in the TLR4/NF-κB/MAPK signaling pathway.Moreover,EPSs could promote bacterial aggregation into clusters,which may be a potential strategy for reducing the bacterial invasion of intestinal epithelial cells.

Fine-tuned mesoporous covalent organic frameworks for highly efficient low molecular-weight proteins separation

Covalent organic frameworks(COFs)are prominent porous materials for molecules separation due to their desirable structures.However,very few COFs are reported for the separation of macromolecules such as low molecular-weight(MW)proteins.Here,two stable mesoporous COFs(Azo-COF and Tp-COF)with highly crystallized frameworks are synthesized,and their pore sizes are slightly-regulated via elaborate selection of pyrene knots and amino linkages.Benefiting from the pore size difference less than 4 ?,the tandem utilization of these two COFs exhibits efficiently size-selective separation ability towards low MW proteins cytochrome c and myoglobin with small MW difference of 2 kDa,in which protein adsorption possibilities are verified by computational calculations together with confocal laser scanning microscopy(CLSM).Furthermore,a simple COF-based separation device is designed and prepared to achieve effective and low-consumption proteins separation.This work has offered an optimized synthetic strategy for fine-tuned mesoporous COFs and expanded their applications on macromolecules separation.

Homological Epimorphisms, Compactly Generated t-Structures and Gorenstein-Projective Modules

The aim of this paper is two-fold.Given a recollement(T′,T,T′′,i*,i_*,i~!,j!,j*,j*),where T′,T,T′′are triangulated categories with small coproducts and T is compactly generated.First,the authors show that the BBD-induction of compactly generated t-structures is compactly generated when i*preserves compact objects.As a consequence,given a ladder(T′,T,T′′,T,T′) of height 2,then the certain BBD-induction of compactly generated t-structures is compactly generated.The authors apply them to the recollements induced by homological ring epimorphisms.This is the first part of their work.Given a recollement(D(B-Mod),D(A-Mod),D(C-Mod),i*,i_*,i~!,j!,j*,j_*) induced by a homological ring epimorphism,the last aim of this work is to show that if A is Gorenstein,AB has finite projective dimension and j! restricts to D^b(C-mod),then this recollement induces an unbounded ladder(B-Gproj,A-Gproj,C-Gproj) of stable categories of finitely generated Gorenstein-projective modules.Some examples are described.

在实际工程应用中,环状周期结构往往存在变截面单元。针对因变截面单元周期特性而导致的固有频率分裂现象,基于力矩平衡关系,采用Hamilton原理建立一般性动力学模型。以贯穿孔为例,基于经典振动理论得到固有频率及其分裂规律。考虑分组模式拓扑构型,推导具体消除频率分裂的规则,深入分析贯穿孔的孔径、数量和位置等参数对频率及其分裂行为的影响。设计试件并搭建实验台验证理论模型的正确性和消除规则的有效性。研究结果表明:由于贯穿孔使局部质量和弯曲刚度同时减小,进而导致固有频率改变,增大孔径和数量使重频频率减小,使分裂频率的分裂程度增大;保持孔径的一致性和位置的对称性可有效消除分裂。该研究方法和结论可用于工程领域类似周期结构动力学问题的研究并指导结构的设计。
