αB-crystallin mini-peptides support corneal healing in vitro and in vivo in rabbit model

AIM:To evaluate if topical use of αB-crystallin minipeptides supports corneal healing following flap ***:Cultured corneal cells were treated with fluorescent taggedαB-crystallin mini-peptides to assess its *** corneal cells pre-treated with or without the mini-peptides were exposed to H_(2)O_(2) and cell viability was examined by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT)*** of neurites of cultured trigeminal neurones was examined following treatment either withαB-crystallin mini-peptides or *** trigeminal neurones were pre-treated either with αB-crystallin mini-peptides or crystallin protein and exposed to H_(2)O_(2) and presence of beading in the dendrites and axons was *** flap surgery was conducted on rabbit cornea and treated topically either withαB-crystallin peptide(0.5 mg/mL thrice daily for 14d)or phosphate-buffered saline(PBS).Corneal healing was evaluated under slit-lamp biomicroscope,mRNA expression of inflammatory cytokines were assessed and the corneas were evaluated by ***:Internalization ofαB-crystallin mini-peptides was ascertained by the detection of fluorescence within the corneal *** MTT assay revealed that treatment withαB-crystallin mini-peptide reduced cell death induced by H_(2)O_(2) *** mini-peptides did not influence the elongation of trigeminal neurites,but significantly(P<0.05)reduced beading in the *** rabbit eye,the treated corneas showed reduced hyper-reflective zones(P<0.05)and suppression in the expression of inflammatory *** examination also revealed reduction of inflammatory response in treated ***:TheαB-crystallin mini-peptides restrict the damage to corneal cells and neurons and aids in corneal healing.

Assessing the bioremediation potential of arsenic tolerant bacterial strains in rice rhizosphere interface

The arsenic tolerant bacterial strains Staphylococcus arlettae （NBRIEAG-6）, Staphylococcus sp. （NBRIEAG-8） and Brevibadllus sp. （NBRIEAG-9） were tested for their roles in enhancing plant growth and induction of stress-related enzymes in rice （Oryza sativa L. cv. NDR-3Bg） plants at two different concentrations, 30 and IS mg/kg of As（V） and As（Ⅲ）, respectively. An experiment was conducted to test the effect of these strains on plant growth promotion and arsenic uptake. We found 30%-40% reduction in total As uptake in bacteria-inoculated plants, with increased plant growth parameters compared to non-inoculated plants. Moreover, the bacteria-inoculated plants showed reduced activity of total glutathione （GSH） and glutathione reductase （GR） compared to their respective controls, which suggests the bacteria-mediated reduction of oxidative stress in plants. Thus, these strains were found to be beneficial in terms of the biochemical and physiological status of the plants under arsenic stress conditions. Furthermore, one-way ANOVA and principal component analysis （PCA） on enzymatic and non-enzymatic assays also revealed clear variations. The results support the distinction between control and treatments in both shoots and roots. Therefore, this study demonstrates the potential of rhizobacteria in alleviating arsenic stress in rice plants.

Concrete is the most widely utilized material for construction purposes,second only to water,in the ever-increasing need for construction *** is a brittle material and possesses a high risk of crack formation and consequent ***,which allows chemicals to enter and can cause concrete structures to lose their physico-mechanical and durability *** and rehabilitating concrete structures involves high costs and leads to various repair methods including coating,adhesives,polymers,supplementary cementitious materials(SCMs),and *** of the latest technologies is the use of microorganisms in *** added microorganisms lead to calcite precipitation and thereby heal the cracks *** study presents a comprehensive literature survey on bacteria-included concrete,before which a bibliographic survey is performed using VOSViewer *** addition to regular bacterial concrete,this study focuses on also using SCMs and fibers in bacterial concrete.A detailed literature review with data representation for various mechanical properties including compressive strength(CS),split tensile strength(SS),and flexure strength(FS),along with durability properties including carbonation,water absorption,resistance against chloride ion penetration,gas permeation,and resistance against cyclic freeze-and-thaw is presented.A study on the use of X-ray computed tomography(XCT)in bacterial concrete is highlighted,and the scope for future research,along with identification of the research gap,is presented.

Differentiating rhythmic high-amplitude delta with superimposed(poly)spikes from extreme delta brushes:limitations of standardized nomenclature and implications for patient management

Background Following the standardized nomenclature proposed by the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society(ACNS),rhythmic high-amplitude delta activity with superimposed spikes(RHADS)can be reported as an extreme delta brush(EDB).The clinical implications of similar electrographic patterns being reported as RHADS versus EDB are important to *** aim to review the electrographic characteristics of RHADS,evaluate whether RHADS is seen in other neurological disorders,and identify the similar and unique characteristics between RHADS and EDB to ultimately determine the most accurate way to differentiate and report these *** believe that the differentiation of RHADS and EDB is important as there is a vast difference in the diagnostic approach and the medical management of associated underlying *** source We conducted an extensive search on MEDLINE and Pubmed utilizing various combinations of *** for“gamma polymerase and EEG”,or“RHADS”or“Alpers syndrome and EEG”or“EEG”AND“Alpers–Huttenlocher syndrome”.Results Three articles were found to be focused on the description of“RHADS”pattern in Alpers *** publication to date were found when searching for the terms“EDB”AND“children”,AND“infant”AND“adolescent”excluding“encephalitis”and“neonate”.Although RHADS and EDB appear as similar EEG patterns,meticulous analysis can differentiate *** is not exclusive to patients with Alpers–Huttenlocher syndrome and may manifest in regions beyond the posterior head *** to eye-opening and response to anesthesia can be two other elements that help in the differentiation of these *** RHADS is not exclusive to patients with AHS and may manifest in regions beyond the posterior head *** to eye-opening and response to anesthesia are features that help in the differentiation of these patterns.

Themis regulates metabolic signaling and effector functions in CD4^(+) T cells by controlling NFAT nuclear translocation
