The effects in electrostatic models of chevron surface-stabilized ferroelectric liquid crystals are investigated through numerical modeling. To study smectic C＊ director distribution within the cell, we consider two nonlinear approaches： the chevron interface does not interplay with the electric field; the electric field interplays with the chevron interface. The obtained results of the director field distribution are compared with the earlier linearized studies. We find that whether or not the electric field interplays with the chevron interface, the electro-optic response requires a generalized approach for its description. The threshold electric field, which is necessary for switching between two stable director states in the chevron cell is evaluated. This study suggests that, in many cases of practical interest, electro-optic response to the electric field and the threshold electric field can be precisely estimated. We argue that, beside being numerically efficient, our approach provides a convenient and a novel standpoint for looking at the electro-optic response problem.

The Diizce Plain has a multi-aquifer system, which consists of a near surface unconfined aquifer, along with first and second deeper confined aquifers. Hydrochemical evolution and water quality are related to infiltration of the precipitation, recharge from the formations surrounding the plain, flow path of groundwater and the relationship between surface and groundwater. The groundwater in the unconfined aquifer flows towards the Efteni Lake and the Biiyiik Melen River. Surface waters are divided into two main hydrochemical facies in the study area：（a） Ca2＋-HCO3-; and （b） Ca2＋, Mg2＋-HCOc-, SO4^2-. The groundwater has generally three main hydrochemical facies：（a） Ca2＋-HCO3-; （b） Ca2＋, Mg2＋-HCO3-; and （c） Ca2＋, Mg2＋-HCO3-, Cl-. The hydrochemical facies ＂a＂ and ＂b＂ dominate within shallow depths in recharge areas under rapid flow conditions, while hydrochemical facies ＂c＂ characterizes shallow and mixed groundwater, which dominate intermediate or discharge areas （near Efteni Lake and Biiyiik Melen River） during low flow conditions and agricultural contamination. Calcium and bicarbonate ions, total hardness and electrical conductivity of total dissolved solids （EC-TDS） values increase along the groundwater flow path; but these parameters remain within the limits specified by the standards set for industrial and agricultural usages.

Helix unwinding in ferroelectric liquid crystals induced by an electric field is theoretically studied on the basis of the continuum theory. By applying a weak electric field tilted to the smectic layers, the contribution of the dielectric interaction energy density to the total free energy density is increased. Approximation methods are used to calculate the free energy for different tilt angles between the electric field and the smectic layers. The obtained results suggest selecting the optimal number of pitches in the film that matches to the minimum of the free energy.

Pancarli Ni-Cu±(PGE)sulfide deposit occurs in the Neoproterozoic basement complex of the Bitlis massif,which is one of the Andean-type active continental margin fragments with arc-type assemblages represented by the Cadomian orogenic *** sulfides are associated with quartzo-feldspathic gneisses(country rock)and mafic intrusions(host rock).Composed of only semi-massive ore,the Ni-Cu±(PGE)sulfide deposit is a small-scale deposit,and it does not contain net-textured and disseminated *** mineral assemblage comprises pyrrhotite,pentlandite,and *** semi-massive ore samples contain 2.2 wt.%-2.9 wt.%Ni,0.8 wt.%-2.2 wt.%Cu(Cu/(Cu+Ni)=0.2-0.5)and 0.13 wt.%-0.17 wt.%*** Cu/Ni ratios(average 0.57)are consistent with the segregation of sulfides from a basaltic *** Pt+Pd100%S values of 0.08 ppm-0.89 ppm,relatively low Pt/Pd ratios of 0.2-1.4,and Pd/Ir ratios of 4.5-39 have also been *** values demonstrate that the magma reached S saturation before its emplacement and the mineralization with high Cu/Pd ratios formed by sulfides segregated from a PGE-depleted magma.δ^34S isotope values(average-3.1‰)of Pancarli sulfides are lower than mantle ***δ^34S value indicates contamination from surrounding *** the composition,remobilization style and magma type,the Pancarli Ni-Cu±(PGE)sulfide deposit is similar to the deposits associated with Andean-type magmatic arcs located in the convergent plate margin settings.

The determination of white dwarf parameters in dwarf novae by optical spectral modeling

This paper presents the results of a model analysis of optical spectra and determination of the parameters of three individual SU UMa and WZ Sge type dwarf *** moderate resolution spectra of TY Psc,FL Psc and V455 And were obtained at the 6-m BTA of the SAO RAS in the low state of these systems with the determination of white dwarf *** theoretical spectra were calculated using the grid models of hydrogen dwarf atmospheres of white dwarfs by varying the parameters(T_(eff) and log g) to reach the best agreement with the observed *** highlight different effects of the parameters on the shape and intensity of the HI ***,it is possible to unambiguously determine T_(eff) and log g from the analysis of *** fundamental parameters of white dwarfs(M and R) were found by comparing the parameters of atmospheres with theoretical models of the internal *** obtained parameters of the primaries of TY Psc,FL Psc and V455 And are consistent with the average values for SU UMa and WZ Sge *** a result,we demonstrate the efficiency of the method for determining the parameters of such systems based on the analysis of a limited set of observed optical spectra.

The phase transitions and the effect on this process of two factors: relative motion and the external influence of the carrier flow (pressure perturbation) are investigated. A mathematical model describing all the stages of the phenomenon is constructed. The model includes mass, momentum and energy balance equations (both for the vapor and for the liquid) or their first integrals.

We review the postulated threatening processes that may have affected the de- cline in the eastern population of the monarch butterfly, Danausplexippus L. （Lepidoptera： Nymphalidae）, in North America. Although there are likely multiple contributing factors, such as climate and resource-related effects on breeding, migrating, and overwintering populations, the key landscape-level change appears to be associated with the widespread use of genetically modified herbicide resistant crops that have rapidly come to dominate the extensive core summer breeding range. We dismiss misinterpretations of the apparent lack of population change in summer adult count data as logically flawed. Glyphosate-tolerant soybean and maize have enabled the extensive use of this herbicide, generating widespread losses of milkweed （Asclepias spp.）, the only host plants for monarch larvae. Modeling studies that simulate lifetime realized fecundity at a landscape scale, direct counts of milkweeds, and extensive citizen science data across the breeding range suggest that a herbicide-induced, landscape-level reduction in milkweed has precipitated the decline in monarchs. A recovery will likely require a monumental effort for the re-establishment of milkweed resources at a commensurate landscape scale.

Today＇s banking institutions spread their product and service line on a daily basis. This effort to increase competitiveness is also creating an overstocked supply for existing and new clients. Not every product is meant for every client and aggressive sales strategies tend to repel clients which can cause serious problems in long-term client-bank relations. This paper will analyze savings and investments products along with their adaptation and modulation regarding client needs. Accordingly, banks will be able to offer particular products to clients with specific needs and wishes. The analytic hierarchy process, or simply AHP method, represents a process which will be able to transform client＇s demands and affinities into a customized offer. It is an easy-to-implement method used in any step of the decision-making process; the process must have multiple alternatives and each of them carries specific characteristics. The decision maker ranks all the characteristics and simultaneously all the alternatives, according to his affinities forming a final decision. This paper will explain how banks will be able to adapt to client needs and wishes in the future using the AHP method.
