Exploring the Transcriptome Landscape of Pomegranate Fruit Peel for Natural Product Biosynthetic Gene and SSR Marker Discovery

Pomegranate fruit peel is rich in bioactive plant natural products, such as hydrolyzable tannins and anthocyanins. Despite their documented roles in human nutrition and fruit quality, genes involved in natural product biosynthesis have not been cloned from pomegranate and very little sequence information is available on pomegranate in the public domain. Shotgun transcriptome sequencing of pomegranate fruit peel cDNA was performed using RNA-Seq on the Illumina Genome Analyzer platform. Over 100 million raw sequence reads were obtained and assembled into 9,839 transcriptome assemblies （TAs）（〉200 bp）. Candidate genes for hydrolyzable tannin, anthocyanin, flavonoid, terpenoid and fatty acid biosynthesis and/or regulation were identified. Three lipid transfer proteins were obtained that may contribute to the previously reported IgE reactivity of pomegranate fruit extracts. In addition, 115 SSR markers were identified from the pomegranate fruit peel transcriptome and primers were designed for 77 SSR markers. The pomegranate fruit peel transcriptome set provides a valuable platform for natural product biosynthetic gene and SSR marker discovery in pomegranate. This work also demonstrates that next-generation transcriptome sequencing is an economical and effective approach for investigating natural product biosynthesis, identifying genes controlling important agronomic traits, and discovering molecular markers in non-model specialty crop species.

The programmed death 1 （PD-1） pathway is a way of inhibiting T-cell proliferation and cytokine production. This pathway is important for maintaining peripheral tolerance. Different mechanisms and cytokines are involved in this pathway. Herein, we show the contribution of endogenous TGF-β to increasing PD-1 expression after T cell receptor （TCR） activation.

We analyzed the efficacy of penile low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave treatment for erectile dysfunction(ED)combined with cavernous artery disease(CAD).ED was evaluated by the International Index of Erectile Function,subdividing patients into mild and moderate/severe *** was assessed using penile color Doppler ***(n=111)with a positive outcome after treatment,based upon the minimal clinically important difference of the International Index of ED,were followed up for 3 months and 6 *** found a significant mean increase in the index of erectile function,with an overall improvement in hemodynamic parameters of the cavernous *** particular,93.9%of the patients with mild ED without CAD responded to treatment and 72.7%resumed normal erectile *** 31.2%of the patients with moderate/severe ED and CAD responded to treatment,and none resumed normal erectile *** patients with mild ED and no CAD maintained the effects of therapy after 3 months,while no patients with moderate/severe ED and CAD maintained the benefits of treatment after 3 ***,patients with mild ED and no CAD have better and longer lasting responses to such treatment,with a higher probability of resuming normal erectile function than patients with moderate/severe ED and CAD.

Due to the harsh and changeable marine environment,one low speed stator-permanent magnet machine named doubly salient permanent magnet machine with toothed pole is applied for marine current energy conversion ***,this machine has simple structure,intriguing fault tolerance,and higher power density,which could adequately satisfy the different complicated operation ***,its permanent magnet flux-linkage has the same variation period as the inductance which leads to a strong nonlinear coupling ***,the torque ripple caused by this special characteristics,uncertainty of system parameters and disturbance of load greatly increases the difficulty of control in this strongly coupling ***,the classical linear PI controller is difficult to meet the system *** this paper,the high-order sliding mode control strategy based on the super-twisting algorithm for this system is creatively utilized for the first *** stability of the system within a limited time is also proved with a quadratic Lyapunov *** relative simulation results demonstrate convincingly that,the high-order sliding mode control has little chattering,high control accuracy and strong robustness.

Delayed gastric emptying(DGE) is a frequent complication after pylorus-preserving pancreatoduodenectomy(PpPD).Kawai and colleagues proposed pylorus-resecting pancreatoduodenectomy(PrPD) with antecolic gastrojejunal anastomosis to obviate DGE occurring after *** we debate the reported differences in the prevalence of DGE in antecolic and retrocolic gastro/duodeno-jejunostomies after PrPD and PpPD,*** concluded that the route of the gastro/duodeno-jejunal anastomosis with respect to the transverse colon;i.e.,antecolic route or retrocolic route,is not responsible for the differences in prevalence of DGE after pancreatoduodenectomy(PD) and that the impact of the reconstructive method on DGE is related mostly to the angulation or torsion of the gastro/*** report a prevalence of 8.9% grade A DGE and 1.1% grade C DGE in a series of 89 subtotal stomach-preserving PDs with Roux-en Y retrocolic reconstruction with anastomosis of the isolated Roux limb to the stomach and single Roux limb to both the pancreatic stump and hepatic *** anastomosis of the isolated first jejunal loop to the gastric remnant allows outflow of the gastric contents by gravity through a "straight route".

The catalytic activity of CoMoS /CNT towards the Egyptian heavy vacuum gas oil hydrotreating was studied. The delivered CNT was functionalized with 6 mol /L HNO_3. The CNT were loaded with 12% MoO_3( by weight) and 0.7 Co /Mo atomic ratio with impregnation methods. The γ-Al_2O_3 catalyst was also prepared by impregnation method to compare both catalysts *** analysis tools such XRD,Raman spectroscopy,TEM,and BET were used to characterize the catalysts. The autoclave reactor was used to operate the hydrotreating experiments. The hydrotreating reactions were tested at various operating conditions of temperature 325-375 ℃,pressure 2-6 MPa,time 2-6 h,and catalyst /oil ratio( by weight) of 1 ∶75,1 ∶33 and 1 ∶10. The results revealed that the CoMoS /CNT was highly efficient for the hydrotreating more than the CoMoS /γ-Al_2O_3. Also, the hydrodesulfurization( HDS) increased with increasing catalyst /oil ratio. Additionally,results showed that the optimum condition was temperature 350℃,pressure 4 MPa,catalyst /oil ratio of 1 ∶75 for 2 h. Furthermore,even at low CoMoS /CNT catalyst /oil ratio of 1 ∶75,an acceptable HDS of 77.1% was achieved.

Solitary rib metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma

We report a case of a 49-year-old man who developed solitary rib metastasis of nasopharyngeal cancer. Patient had been treated for primary carcinoma with radiation therapy and concomitant chemotherapy. The bone metastasis presented as bulky, solid, painful mass in the posterior arch of 10th rib, within nine months the end of treatment. Biopsy of the solitary lesion presented the same histological characteristics as those of primary lesion. Although there are reported in literature series of nasopharyngeal cancer metastasizing to bone, we did not find previously pubfished report of a nasopharyngeal carcinoma metastasizing only to a rib.
