The transparent and immutable nature of blockchain provides incentives for organizations wishing to create and implement an open,decentralized governance *** members exercise their voting rights,a fault-tolerant record accumulates on the blockchain that can be analyzed to diagnose and intercept potential threats to the governing *** date,there has not been a systematic study of on-chain governance with respect to *** this paper,we provide an analysis of blockchain governance through a case study of the first cryptocurrency to adopt on-chain voting,*** analysis introduces the key characteristics of blockchain governance,steps through a data-driven exploration of Dash's on-chain voting system,and highlights exploitable attack vectors and vulnerabilities for the subversion of Dash's on-chain voting system via a novel network analysis *** then conclude with guidelines for other organizations looking to implement similar blockchain governance solutions while maintaining integrity in their operations.

Objective: Wharton jelly-derived mesenchymal stem cells (WJMSCs) exhibit multilineage differentiation potential and can be used to treat multiple organs. However, diabetes affects the repair capability of MSCs. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of diabetic patient-derived serum on WJMSC behavior. Methods: WJMSCs at passage 3 were treated with serum derived from type 2 diabetic patients. WJMSCs were characterized for surface markers expression by using immunocytochemistry technique. The effects on cell viability, proliferation, cell death rate, and vascular endothelial growth factor level were assessed by crystal violet staining, 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphe-nyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay, lactate dehydrogenase assay, and enzyme-linked immuno-sorbent assay, respectively. Oxidative stress was assessed by the estimation of free radical species malondialdehyde (MDA) and enzymes glutathione (GSH), catalase, and superoxide dismutase (SOD). Results: WJMSCs isolated in this study were positive for CD29, CD49, CD73, CD90, CD105, and SSEA4 and negative for CD45 and CD34. Under diabetic stress conditions, WJMSCs showed low viability and high lactate dehydrogenase release. A low level of vascular endothelial growth factor was also observed after diabetic serum treatment. Antioxidant level was also lower in diabetic serum-treated WJMSCs compared to in normal serum-treated WJMSCs. Conclusion: The results of the present study suggest that pre-treatment of WJMSCs with type 2 diabetic serum decreases the survival of WJMSCs. The findings of this study provide insight into diabetes-induced harmful effects on WJMSCs.

Dicyphus maroccanus Wagner and Nesidiocoris tenuis Reuter （Hemiptera： Miridae） are 2 biological control agents in tomatoes. Through the crop seasons, a natural shift in the occurrence of both mirids in favor ofN. tenuis has been observed at the end of the cropping cycle in eastern Spain. To better optimize their conservation, the reasons for the observed change, such as intraguild interactions （IGP） or the influence of environmental conditions, are worth elucidating. To do this, we first studied the IGP of adult females on heterospecific nymphs in the laboratory. We next studied exploitative competition between adults and nymphs of each species when feeding on Ephestia kueniella Zeller （Lepidoptera： Pyralidae） eggs in the laboratory. Finally, to analyze the competitive displacement between both mirids, we conducted a semifield experiment in which both predators were released together. All experiments were conducted at 2 temperature regimes （20 and 25~C）. Adult- to-nymph intraguild interactions occurred only at 25 ~C at very low levels, showing that N. tenuis attacked and consumed a greater proportion ofheterospecific nymphs. Nesidiocoris tenuis was a better competitor than D. maroccanus when feeding on the shared prey in the presence of its heterospecific nymph at 25 ~C. In semifield conditions, N. tenuis showed a competitive advantage over D. maroccanus at both temperatures. We conclude that there is not direct interference between both species, however, N. tenuis has a greater ability to outcompete, since it is best adapted to higher temperatures and it is able to remove food sources for D. maroccanus.

Apolipoprotein A-IMilano(ApoA-IM)has been shown to significantly reduce coronary atherosclerotic ***,the preparation of cost-effective pharmaceutical formulations of ApoA-IM is limited by the high cost and difficulty of purifying the protein and producing the highly effective dimeric *** aim of this study was to create an expression cassette that specifically drives the expression of dimeric ApoA-IM in the protein bodies of rice *** ApoA-IM protein under control of the 13 kDa prolamin promoter is expressed exclusively in its dimeric form within the seeds,and immunocytochemical and immunogold analyses confirmed its expression in different caryopsis tissue such as seed coat,aleurone cell and endosperm,particularly in amyloplast and storage vacuoles.A plant-based ApoA-IM production system offered numerous advantages over current production systems,including the direct production of the most therapeutically effective dimeric ApoA-IM forms,long-term protein storage in seeds,and ease of protein production by simply growing ***,seeds had the potential to serve as a costeffective source of therapeutic ApoA-IM.

The current study provides a quantum calculus-based medical image enhancement technique that dynamically chooses the spatial distribution of image pixel intensity *** technique focuses on boosting the edges and texture of an image while leaving the smooth areas *** brain Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI)scans are used to visualize the tumors that have spread throughout the brain in order to gain a better understanding of the stage of brain *** detecting brain cancer is a complex challenge that the medical system faces when diagnosing the *** solve this issue,this research offers a quantum calculus-based MRI image enhancement as a pre-processing step for brain cancer *** proposed image enhancement approach improves images with low gray level changes by estimating the pixel’s quantum *** suggested image enhancement technique is demonstrated to be robust and resistant to major quality changes on a variety ofMRIscan datasets of variable *** scans,the BRISQUE“blind/referenceless image spatial quality evaluator”and the NIQE“natural image quality evaluator”measures were 39.38 and 3.58,*** proposed image enhancement model,according to the data,produces the best image quality ratings,and it may be able to aid medical experts in the diagnosis *** experimental results were achieved using a publicly available collection of MRI scans.

Variance is one of themost important measures of descriptive statistics and commonly used for statistical *** traditional second-order central moment based variance estimation is a widely utilized ***,traditional variance estimator is highly affected in the presence of extreme *** this paper initially,proposes two classes of calibration estimators based on an adaptation of the estimators recently proposed by Koyuncu and then presents a new class of L-Moments based calibration variance estimators utilizing L-Moments characteristics(L-location,Lscale,L-CV)and auxiliary *** is demonstrated that the proposed L-Moments based calibration variance estimators are more efficient than adapted *** data is considered for assessing the performance of the proposed *** also demonstrated an application related to apple fruit for purposes of the *** artificial and real data sets,percentage relative efficiency(PRE)of the proposed class of estimators with respect to adapted ones are *** PRE results indicate to the superiority of the proposed class over adapted ones in the presence of extreme *** this manner,the proposed class of estimators could be applied over an expansive range of survey sampling whenever auxiliary information is available in the presence of extreme values.
