AIM:The pathogenesis of hypogonadism in liver cirrhosis is not well *** results from our laboratory showed that IGF-1 deficiency might play a pathogenetic role in hypogonadism of *** administration of IGF-1 for a short period of time reverted the testicular atrophy associated with advanced experimental cirrhosis. The aim of this study was to establish the historical progression of the described alterations in the testes, explore testicular morphology,histopathology,cellular proliferation,integrity of testicular barrier and hypophyso- gonadal axis in rats with no ascitic cirrhosis. METHODs:Male Wistar rats with histologically-proven cirrhosis induced with carbon tetrachloride(CCI_4)for 11 wk, were allocated into two groups(n=12,each)to receive recombinant IGF-1(2 μg/100 gd,sc)for two weeks or *** rats receiving vehicle were used as control group(n=12). REsULTs:Compared to controls,rats with compensated cirrhosis showed a normal testicular size and weight and very few histopathological testicular abnormalities. However,these animals showed a significant diminution of cellular proliferation and a reduction of testicular transferrin *** addition,pituitary-gonadal axis was altered,with significant higher levels of FsH(Pscontrols)and increased levels of LH in untreated cirrhotic ***,IGF-1 treatment normalized testicular transferrin expression and cellular proliferation and reduced serum levels of LH(P=ns vs controls,and Ps untreated cirrhotic group). CONCLUsION:The testicular barrier is altered from an early stage of cirrhosis,shown by a reduction of transferrin expression in sertoli cells,a diminished cellular proliferation and an altered gonadal *** treatment with IGF-1 could be also useful in this initial stage of testicular disorder associated with compensated cirrhosis.

Background:After promising initial results from the administration of a third(booster)dose of the BNT162b2 messenger RNA vaccine(Pfizer-BioNTech)to persons 60 years of age or older,the booster campaign in Israel was gradually expanded to persons in younger age groups who had received a second dose at least 5 months ***:We extracted data for the period from July 30 to October 10,2021,from the Israel Ministry of Health database regarding 4,696,865 persons 16 years of age or older who had received two doses of BNT162b2 at least 5 months *** the primary analysis,we compared the rates of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019(Covid-19),severe illness,and death among those who had received a booster dose at least 12 days earlier(booster group)with the rates among those who had not received a booster(nonbooster group).In a secondary analysis,we compared the rates in the booster group with the rates among those who had received a booster 3 to 7 days earlier(early postbooster group).We used Poisson regression models to estimate rate ratios after adjusting for possible confounding factors.

The study aimed at examining by quantitative research design to what extent management style affects organizational climate of schools A, B, and C of Arab sector in Israel, while comparing a test group of school A to a control group of schools B＋C. The research question was： What is the impact of a principal＇s management style on creation of a positive school organizational climate？ Quantitative data collection was conducted by means of validated questionnaires from relevant scientific literature. The findings indicate that a principal has a central role in a teacher＇s perception of professional autonomy. The sense of professional autonomy of a teacher is reinforced the more a teacher senses that the principal is an educational figure or a leader whom he can consult with regarding personal and professional problems. Differences were found among teachers in perception of school characteristics as providing various levels of autonomy.

Recently,computational fluid dynamics(CFD)approaches have been effectively used by researchers to calculate the resistance characteristics of ships that have rough outer *** approaches are mainly based on modifying wall functions using experimentally pre-determined roughness *** several recent studies have shown that CFD can be an effective tool to calculate resistance components of ships for different roughness conditions,most of these studies were performed using the same ship geometry(KRIsO Container ship).Thus,the effect of ship geometry on the resistance characteristics of rough hull surfaces is worth *** this study,viscous resistance components of four different ships are calculated for different roughness ***,flat plate simulations are performed using a previous experimental study for comparison ***,the viscous resistance components of three-dimensional hulls are *** simulations are performed using two different turbulence models to investigate the effect of the turbulence model on the *** examination of the distributions of the local skin friction coefficients of the DTMB 5415 and series 60 showed that the plumpness of the bow form has a significant effect on the increase in frictional resistance with increasing *** significant finding of the study is that viscous pressure resistance is directly affected by the surface *** all geometries,viscous pressure resistances showed a significant increase for highly rough surfaces.

This study presents a simple numerical method that can be used to evaluate the hydrodynamic performances of antifouling *** Reynolds-averaged Navier-stokes equations were solved through a finite volume technique,whereas roughness was modeled with experimentally determined roughness ***,the methodology was validated with previous experimental studies with a flat ***,flow around the Kriso Container ship was ***,full-scale results were predicted using Granville’s similarity *** indicated that roughness has a similar effect on the viscous pressure resistance and frictional resistance around a Reynolds number of 10^***,the increase in frictional resistance due to roughness was calculated to be approximately 3%-5%at the ship scale depending on the paint.

Case study research investigated the launching of an innovative Live Journal, as part of a professional social network, during international conference held in Israel on the subject of teacher training. Research literature notes various publications used to record research and academic materials, but talks less about tools accompanying academic conferences. As far as could be ascertained no online ＂live journal＂ has served the needs of a professional conference. To understand the process and contribution of the Live Journal, qualitative study was chosen, using categorical analysis to interpret materials uploaded by participants on the journal. Additionally, in-depth interviews exposed participants＇ voices and interpretations. The research aimed to identify factors encouraging or hindering the initiative＇s success, patterns of participation, participants＇ characteristics, writing styles and incumbent difficulties and aimed to present a model for optimal operation of the Live Journal. Findings indicate essential components for the journal＇s success include： participants, technology and marketing, noting the importance of each component and their correlation with other components. The journal＇s potential to assist construction of a professional community, and act as an impetus for professional development and familiarity with other professionals in the field indicates the importance of the journal and constitutes the key for success.
