Quantitative analysis is increasingly being used in team sports to better understand performance in these stylized,delineated,complex social ***,the authors provide a first step toward understanding the pattern-forming dynamics that emerge from collective offensive and defensive behavior in team *** authors propose a novel method of analysis that captures how teams occupy sub-areas of the field as the ball changes *** authors use this method to analyze a game of association football(soccer) based upon a hypothesis that local player numerical dominance is key to defensive stability and offensive *** authors find that the teams consistently allocated more players than their opponents in sub-areas of play closer to their own *** is consistent with a predominantly defensive strategy intended to prevent yielding even a single *** authors also find differences between the two teams' strategies:while both adopted the same distribution of defensive,midfield,and attacking players(a 4:3:3 system of play),one team was significantly more effective in maintaining both defensive and offensive numerical dominance for defensive stability and offensive *** team indeed won the match with an advantage of one goal(2 to 1) but the analysis shows the advantage in play was more pervasive than the single goal victory would *** proposed focus on the local dynamics of team collective behavior is distinct from the traditional focus on individual player *** supports a broader view in which specific player abilities contribute within the context of the dynamics of multiplayer team coordination and coaching *** applying this complex system analysis to association football,the authors can understand how players' and teams' strategies result in successful and unsuccessful relationships between teammates and opponents in the area of play.

Designing electrocatalysts for HER in alkaline conditions to overcome the sluggish kinetics associated with the additional water dissociation step is a recognized challenge in promoting the hydrogen *** this end,delicately tuning the atomic-scale structure and surface composition of nanoparticles is a common strategy and,specifically,making use of hybrid structures,can produce synergistic effects that lead to highly active ***,we present a core-shell catalyst of Ag@Mos_(2)that shows promising results towards the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)in both 0.5 M H_(2)sO_(4)and 0.5 M *** this hybrid structure,the Mos_(2)shell is strained and defective,and charge transfer occurs between the conductive core and the shell,contributing to the electrocatalytic *** shelling process results in a large fraction of Ag_(2)s in the cores,and adjusting the relative fractions of Ag,Ag_(2)s,and Mos_(2)leads to improved catalytic activity and fast charge-transfer *** suggest that the enhancement of alkaline HER is associated with a cooperative effect of the interfaces,where the Ag(Ⅰ)sites in Ag_(2)s drive the water dissociation step,and the formed hydrogen subsequently recombines on the defective Mos_(2)*** study demonstrates the benefits of hybrid structures as functional nanomaterials and provides a scheme to activate Mos_(2)for HER in alkaline conditions.

Many insects feed on a low‐nitrogen diet,and the origin of their nitrogen supply is poorly *** has been hypothesized that some insects rely on nitrogen‐fixing bacteria(diazotrophs)to supplement their *** fixation by diazotrophs has been extensively studied and convincingly demonstrated in termites,while evidence for the occurrence and role of nitrogen fixation in the diet of other insects is less ***,we summarize the methods to detect nitrogen fixation in insects and review the available evidence for its occurrence(focusing on insects other than termites).We distinguish between three aspects of nitrogen fixation investigations:(i)detecting the presence of potential diazotrophs;(ii)detecting the activity of the nitrogen‐fixing enzyme;and(iii)detecting the assimilation of fixed nitrogen into the insect *** show that although evidence from investigations of the first aspect reveals ample opportunities for interactions with potential diazotrophs in a variety of insects,demonstrations of actual biological nitrogen fixation and the assimilation of fixed nitrogen are restricted to very few insect groups,including wood‐feeding beetles,fruit flies,leafcutter ants,and a wood *** then discuss potential implications for the insect's fitness and for the ecosystem as a *** suggest that combining these multiple approaches is crucial for the study of nitrogen fixation in insects,and argue that further demonstrations are desperately needed in order to determine the relative importance of diazotrophs for insect diet and fitness,as well as to evaluate their overall impact on the ecosystem.

Non-invasive fluorescence retinal imaging in small animals is an important requirement for an array of translational vision *** in vivo two-photon imaging of the mouse retina may enable the long-term investigation of the structure and function of healthy and diseased retinal ***,to date,this has only been possible using relatively complex adaptive-optics ***,the optical modeling of the murine eye and of the imaging system is used to achieve correction-free two-photon microscopy through the pupil of a mouse eye to yield high-quality,optically sectioned fundus *** remotely scanning the focus using an electronically tunable lens,high-resolution three-dimensional fluorescein angiograms and cellular-scale images are acquired,thus introducing a correction-free baseline performance level for two-photon in vivo retinal ***,the system enables functional calcium imaging of repeated retinal responses to light stimulation using the genetically encoded indicator,*** results and the simplicity of the new add-on optics are an important step toward several structural,functional,and multimodal imaging applications that will benefit from the tight optical sectioning and the use of near-infrared light.

soil quality determination and estimation is an important issue not only for terrestrial ecosystems but also for sustainable management of *** this study,soil quality was determined by linear and nonlinear standard scoring function methods integrated with a neutrosophic fuzzy analytic hierarchy process in the micro *** addition,soil quality values were estimated using a support vector machine(sVM)in machine learning *** order to generate spatial distribution maps of soil quality indice values,different interpolation methods were evaluated to detect the most suitable semivariogram *** the soil quality index values obtained by the linear method were determined between 0.458-0.717,the soil quality index with the nonlinear method showed variability at the levels of *** was no statistical difference between the two methods,and they were determined to be *** the estimation of soil quality with sVM,the normalized root means square error(NRMsE)values obtained in the linear and nonlinear method estimation were determined as 0.057 and 0.047,*** spherical model of simple kriging was determined as the interpolation method with the lowest RMsE value in the actual and predicted values of the linear method while,in the nonlinear method,the lowest error in the distribution maps was determined with exponential of the simple kriging.

This study was carried out to evaluate the water quality of selected dam lakes as well as their suitability for agricultural *** dams were selected for water sampling and samples were collected monthly,including during the irrigation season for a period of one year from March to september *** samples were analyzed for temperature,pH,physicochemical parameters such as temperature,pH value,salinity(EC),anions(CO_(3),HCO_(3),CI,sO_(4),P,NO_(3)),cations(Na,K,Ca,Mg,B,NH_(4))and heavy *** irrigation suitability assessment was made using various indices such as sAR(sodium adsorption rate),TDs(total dissolved solids),Na%(sodium percentage),RsC(residual sodium bicarbonate),MAR(magnesium adsorption rate),KR(Kelly ratio),and PI(permeability index).The temperature values of the water samples varied between 5.8℃-25.1℃,pH and EC values changed between 7.51 and 8.46,282,and 1400μs/cm *** water samples were evaluated as C_(2)s_(1) and C_(3)s_(1) irrigation water *** heavy metal contents of the water samples were determined below the limit *** dams were found suitable for irrigation in terms of EC(salinity),sAR(sodium adsorption rate),TDs(total dissolved solids),Na%(sodium percentage),RsC(residual sodium bicarbonate),MAR(magnesium adsorption rate),and KR(Kelly ratio).Water samples were determined as the second class of PI(permeability index).Güllübağdam was not found suitable as irrigation water in terms of EC,Na%,RsC,and KR *** a result,it specifically points to the restrictions on the use of water from the Güllübağdam for irrigation purposes.

This study delves into the combustion behavior of various lignite types within a circulating fluidized bed boiler(CFBB),with a primary focus on the impact of different bed material sphericity ratios(0.5,0.7,and 0.9).Utilizing bed material with a sphericity ratio of 0.9 sourced from theÇan power plant and verified through experimentation,the research reveals several key ***,furnace temperatures tended to rise with higher sphericity ratios,albeit with variations between lignite types,particularly highlighting the complexity of this relationship in the case of GLI-Tunçbilek *** levels in the combustion chamber remained consistent across different sphericity ratios,indicating minimal influence on pressure *** combustion efficiency,especially at the bottom of the boiler,was observed at lower sphericity levels(0.5 and 0.7)forÇan lignite,as reflected in CO_(2) mole *** NO_(x) emissions generally decreased with lower sphericity,the sensitivity to sphericity varied by lignite type,with Ilgın lignite showcasing low NO_(x) but high sO_(2) emissions,underscoring the intricate interplay between lignite properties,sphericity,and ***,this study advances our understanding of CFBB combustion dynamics,offering insights valuable for optimizing performance and emissions control,particularly in lignite-based power.

A compiled selected literature on some groups of microfossils of the Mesozoic and Cenozoic of the James Ross Basin,eastern Antarctic Peninsula,is presented here,in order to show how the microbiota has been modified over time,triggered by environmental *** analyzed microfossils consist of palynomorphs(mostly pollen grains,spores,and dinoflagellate cysts),foraminifers and *** cysts and pollen-spores have been recorded in Jurassic to Pleistocene sedimentary *** cysts proved to be good indicators for productivity and/or nutrient availability,surface water temperature and chemistry,the position of ancient shorelines and paleoceanographic *** and spores allowed reconstruction of floral community and thus characterization of the climate that prevailed on the ***,recovered from the Lower Cretaceous to the Pleistocene sedimentary rocks,provided information about the bathymetry,showing different marine settings(e.g.,coastal,inner neritic,outer neritic,upper bathyal)in different *** bryozoan record is restricted to the *** colonial growth-forms reflect several environmental conditions such as shallow waters with a low rate of sedimentation,hard substrate and moderate or strong current action for the analyzed *** study of the Antarctic ecosystems based on the fossil microbiota and their response to the climate and the continental configuration changes,allowed understanding of the composition and dynamics of the polar environments,which have an important role in the Earth climate.

Background Myocarditis is one of the presentations of multisystemic infammatory syndrome in children(MIs-C)following coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Although the reported short-term prognosis is good,data regarding medium-term functional capacity and limitations are *** study aimed to evaluate exercise capacity as well as possible cardiac and respiratory limitations in children recovered from MIs-C related *** Fourteen patients who recovered from MIs-C related myocarditis underwent spirometry and cardiopulmonary exercise testing(CPET),and their results were compared with an age-,sex-,weight-and activity level-matched healthy control group(n=14).Results All participants completed the CPET with peak oxygen uptake(peak.V O2),and the results were within the normal range(MIs-C 89.3%±8.9%and Control 87.9%±13.7%predicted.V O2).Five post-MIs-C patients(35%)had exerciserelated cardio-respiratory abnormalities,including oxygen desaturation and oxygen-pulse fattening,compared to none in the control *** MIs-C group also had lower peak exercise saturation(95.6±3.5 vs.97.6±1.1)and lower breathing reserve(17.4%±7.5%vs.27.4%±14.0%of MVV).Conclusions Patients who recovered from MIs-C related myocarditis may present exercise *** assessment(e.g.,CPET)should be included in routine examinations before allowing a return to physical activity in post-MIs-C ***,longer term studies assessing functional capacity and focusing on physiological mechanisms are needed.
