A cross sectional study on antibiotic resistance pattern of Salmonella typhi clinical isolates from Bangladesh

Objective:To investigate and compare the resistance and sensitivity of Salmonella typhi samples to commonly used antibiotics in three major divisions of Bangladesh and to evaluate the gradually developing resistance ***:The antibiotic susceptibility of 70 clinical isolates collected from blood,sputum,urine and pus samples were identified by specific antisera and with standard biochemical *** patients were divided into 5 age *** and resistance was also tested by KirbyBauer disc-diffusion method using 12 regularly used ***:Antibiotic susceptibility test demonstrated that 64.28%isolates of Salmonella typhi were multidrug *** study suggests that the clinical samples were mostly resistant against nalidixic acid with all age groups and in all three divisions with similar resistance *** is more common among adult people(30-40 years)and children(0-10 years).Salmonella typhi was mostly sensitive against gentamycin,chloramphenicol and ***:Although the population density of Dhaka region is markedly higher than Rajshahi and Chittagong regions,no significant difference in resistance pattern was *** rate of multidrug resistance is a matter of *** should reconsider before prescribing nalidixic acid and *** molecular study is needed to reveal the genomic and proteomic basis of resistance.

Aluminium phthalocyanine chloride thin films for temperature sensing

This study presents the fabrication and temperature sensing properties of sensors based on aluminium phthalocyanine chloride （AlPcCl） thin films. To fabricate the sensors, 50-nm-thick electrodes with 50-μ gaps between them are deposited on glass substrates. AlPcCl thin films with thickness of 50–100 nm are deposited in the gap between electrodes by thermal evaporation. The resistance of the sensors decreases with increasing thickness and the annealing at 100 ℃ results in an increase in the initial resistance of sensors up to 24%. The sensing mechanism is based on the change in resistance with temperature. For temperature varying from 25 ℃ to 80 ℃, the change in resistance is up to 60%. Simulation is carried out and results obtained coincide with experimental data with an error of ±1%.

An entity mimicking inflammatory breast carcinoma: Granulomatous mastitis

Granulomatous mastitis (GM) is a chronic inflammatory breast disease. This pathology was first described by Kersler and Wolloch in 1972 [1]. It is an uncommon cause of a breast mass [2-5]. Awareness of this entity is crucial, because it can clinically and radiologically mimic breast carcinoma, fibroadenoma or fibrocystic changes [3]. It has several appearances radiologically also;biopsy still remains the only way for final diagnoses. Here we present a woman with a breast mass. Our aim is to show ultrasound, mammography and magnetic resonance imaging findings of GM by reviewing the literature.

Minimum Cross Fuzzy Entropy Problem, The Existence of Its Solution and Generalized Minimum Cross Fuzzy Entropy Problems

In the present study we have formulated a Minimum Cross Fuzzy Entropy Problem （Minx（F）EntP） and proposed sufficient conditions for existence of its solution. Mentioned problem can be formulated as follows. In the set of membership functions satisfying the given moment constraints generated by given moment functions it is required to choose the membership function that is closest to a priori membership function in the sense of cross fuzzy entropy measure. The existence of solution of formulated problem is proved by virtue of concavity property of cross fuzzy entropy measure, the implicit function theorem and Lagrange multipliers method. Moreover, Generalized Cross Fuzzy Entropy Optimization Methods in the form of MinMinx（F）EntM and MaxMinx（F）EntM are suggested on the basis of primary phase of minimizing cross fuzzy entropy measure for fixed moment vector function and on the definition of the special functional with Minx（F）Ent values of cross fuzzy entropy measure. Next phase for obtaining mentioned distributions consists of optimization of defined functional with respect to moment vector functions. Distributions obtained by mentioned methods are defined as （MinMinx（F）Ent）m and （MaxMinx（F）Ent）m distributions.

Genome Size of Alexandrium catenella and Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis Estimated by Flow Cytometry

Flow cytometry(FCM) technique has been widely applied to estimating the genome size of various higher plants. However, there is few report about its application in algae. In this study, an optimized procedure of FCM was exploited to estimate the genome size of two eukaryotic algae. For analyzing Alexandrium catenella, an important red tide species, the whole cell instead of isolated nucleus was studied, and chicken erythrocytes were used as an internal reference. The genome size of A. catenella was estimated to be 56.48 ± 4.14 Gb(1C), approximately nineteen times larger than that of human genome. For analyzing Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis, an important economical red alga, the purified nucleus was employed, and Arabidopsis thaliana and Chondrus crispus were used as internal references, respectively. The genome size of Gp. lemaneiformis was 97.35 ± 2.58 Mb(1C) and 112.73 ± 14.00 Mb(1C), respectively, depending on the different internal references. The results of this research will promote the related studies on the genomics and evolution of these two species.

Adsorption of lead and cadmium ions from aqueous solutions using manganoxide minerals

Removal of lead and cadmium ions from aqueous solutions by adsorption process was investigated. Low cost and locally available natural mineral of manganoxide mineral was used as an adsorbent. The kinetics of adsorption process data was examined using the pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order kinetics and the intra-particle diffusion models. The rate constants of adsorption for all these kinetics models were calculated and compared. The adsorption kinetics was best described by the pseudo second-order model. The Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherm models were applied to the experimental equilibrium data at different temperatures. The experimental data well fitted to Langmuir isotherm model. The maximum adsorption capacities of manganoxide mineral for lead and cadmium ions were calculated from the Langmuir isotherm and were 98 and 6.8 mg/g, respectively. Thermodynamic parameters such as the change of Gibbs free energy, enthalpy and entropy of adsorption were also calculated and it was found that the lead and cadmium uptake reactions by manganoxide mineral were endothermic and spontaneous in nature. Therefore, manganoxide mineral can be used as adsorbents for lead and cadmium ions removal processes as an alternative natural mineral among the others.

Ectopic (heterotopic) pancreas in the mesentery of the jejunum: Imaging findings

Ectopic pancreatic tissue in the mesentery of the jejunum is an entity that is seen very rarely. Most patients are asymptomatic and usually this is an incidental ?nding at autopsy or laparotomy. Most of the cases are clinically silent, but symptoms either might be due to the localization of the ectopic tissue or due to the complications including obstruction or bleeding. Surgery is not indicated unless complications occur, so diagnosis is very important for prevention of unnecessary surgery. Here, we present a case that had ectopic pancreatic tissue in the mesentery of the jejunum. We show the computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging findings of this patient.

Background:The Shamozai Valley of Swat District is remarkable with various plant *** information offers folk remedies for livestock,which are cheaper than standard treatment methods and are readily ***:Different trips were organized for gathering(harvesting)and recording medicinal plants in the area during 2018.A total of 140 local residents were ***,the obtained data were evaluated using used value,relative frequency citations,fidelity level,consensus index,and informant consensus ***:In this study,41 plants were presented,and these plants were used commonly as medication for treating various livestock *** therapeutic plants with most used value were Artemisia scoparia(0.607),Berberis lyceum Royle(0.610),Bromus japonicus(0.491),Avena sativa(0.482),Cannabis sativa L.(0.473),Capsicum annum L.(0.471),Cedrus deodara(0.462),and Chenopodium murale(0.453).On the basis of relative frequency citations values,the most quoted plant species by the indigenous people are Artemisia scoparia(0.760),Berberis lyceum(0.742),Bromus japonicus(0.731),Avena sativa(0.721),and Cannabis sativa L.(0.711).Consensus index percentage showed the highest for Artemisia scoparia(83.109%),followed by Berberis lyceum Royle(80.454%),whereas the ethnomedicinal plant species with most fidelity level were Artemisia scoparia(76.320%),Berberis lyceum Royle(73.403%),Bromus japonicus(72.013%),Avena sativa(71.024%),Cannabis sativa L.(69.322%),Capsicum annum L(68.344%),Cedrus deodara(67.215%),and Chenopodium murale(66.060%)for various *** consensus factor ranged from 0.947 to 1.000,whereas different ailments ***-causing agent,carminative treatment,eye diseases,mouth ulcers,myiasis,pediculosis,septicemia,and tick infestation had maximum informant consensus factor ***:The publics of Shamozai are deeply reliant on ethomedicinal plants for treating numerous livestock *** information always offers a

Temperature sensor based on composite film of vanadium complex(VO_2(3-fl))and CNT

A vanadium complex （VO2（3-fl）） and CNT composite film based temperature sensor is reported in this study. Surface-type silver electrodes were deposited on the glass substrates. A thin film of VOE（3-fl） and CNT composite was coated as a temperature-sensing material on the top of the pre-patterned Ag electrodes. The temperature-sensing principle of the sensor was based on the conductivity change of the coated sensing element upon heating or cooling processes. DC and AC （100 Hz） resistances of the temperature sensor decreased quasi- linearly with increasing the temperature in the range of 25-80 ℃. The overall resistance of the sensor decreases by 1.8-2.1 and 1.9-2.0 times at DC and AC voltage, respectively. The resistance temperature coefficients of the sensor were in the range of-（0.9-1.3）% and -（1.1-1.3）% at DC and AC voltage, respectively. The properties of the sensor studied in this work, make it beneficial to be used in the instruments for environmental monitoring of temperature.
