Estimating Water Retention with Pedotransfer Functions Using Multi-Objective Group Method of Data Handling and Anns

Pedotransfer functions （PTFs） have been developed to estimate soil water retention curves （SWRC） by various techniques. In this study PTFs were developed to estimate the parameters （θs, θr, α and λ） of the Brooks and Corey model from a data set of 148 samples. Particle and aggregate size distribution fractal parameters （PSDFPs and ASDFPs, respectively） were computed from three fractal models for either particle or aggregate size distribution. The most effective model in each group was determined by sensitivity analysis. Along with the other variables, the selected fractal parameters were employed to estimate SWRC using multi-objective group method of data handling （mGMDH） and different topologies of artificial neural networks （Anns）. The architecture of Anns for parametric PTFs was different regarding the type of Ann, output layer transfer functions and the number of hidden neurons. Each parameter was estimated using four PTFs by the hierarchical entering of input variables in the PTFs. The inclusion of PSDFPs in the list of inputs improved the accuracy and reliability of parametric PTFs with the exception of ~s- The textural fraction variables in PTF1 for the estimation of a were replaced with PSDFPs in PTF3. The use of ASDFPs as inputs significantly improved a estimates in the model. This result highlights the importance of ASDFPs in developing parametric PTFs. The mCMDH technique performed significantly better than Anns in most PTFs.

Designing of a non-linear controller base on model predictive control for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC) was presented by M. Pucci et al. to regulate the cell voltage based on the hydrogen pressure, trying to reduce the variation of the input control variable [1], but they used a constant signal for other important control variables like operating temperature and current density duo to computational limitations in online optimization of multivariable highly non-linear system. In this work, by use of Approximate Predictive Control (APC) method based on neural network model, the whole control process is designed with three input variables. We assume operating temperature and hydrogen pressure as control design variable and current density as measured disturbance to manage the cell voltage. A comparison with various design condition is presented too.

The Use of Art Therapy in Alleviating Mental Health Symptoms in Refugees: A Literature Review

There are over thirty million refugees globally with severe experiences of *** therapy intervention allows for nonverbal expression and could alleviate mental health symptomatology among *** present review’s aim was to integrate and summarize the previous research which examined the effects of visual arts on alleviating psychological conditions of ***,due to the paucity of studies which solely used visual arts,we included studies that used visual arts alongside other modalities as part of an expressive arts therapy *** present review synthesizes studies that examined the effect of art therapy on mental health issues of refugees from January 2000 to March *** studies(child and adolescent sample,n=5 and adult sample,n=2)with a total of 298 refugee participants(n=298)met our inclusion *** participants were from the Middle East and north Africa(MEnA),Southeast Asia,and *** found three commonly reported mental health disorders,namely Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD),anxiety,and Major Depression *** research highlights how art therapy interventions could be a great starting point to alleviate symptomatology among *** additional benefits of art therapy which were commonly reported across the seven studies emerged from this review:working with traumatic experience/loss,rebuilding social connection and trust,nonverbal com-munication and self-expression of loss and trauma,and retelling *** therapy interventions could be used as a starting point in the healing process of traumatized refugees to encourage verbal articulation of their feelings and reduce mental health *** these promisingfindings,due to a dearth of robust methodologies,further research is required to assess the long-term effectiveness of art therapy.

Toward the Design of Multi Asymmetric Surface Dielectric Barrier Discharge (ASDBD) Actuators

This paper investigates the electrical and mechanical behaviors of a single-ASDBD actuator and a two-ASDBD one supplied in sinusoidal mode（1-10 kHz）.The main objective of our research is to determine the optimum frequency values for the function of these actuators with a given power *** this purpose,we determine the electrical power density input to the actuators versus frequency through two methods：i） a semi-theoretical method,based on an impedance calculation,and ii） an experimental method,based on direct electrical *** methods show that the addition of a second ASDBD changes the resonance frequency value of the actuator by moving it towards low *** characterizing the aerodynamic mobile layer structure induced by the single-ASDBD actuator,we analyze experimentally the mechanical response of a two-ASDBD actuator as a function of the inter-ASDBD *** experiments demonstrate that the induced electric wind velocity and the electro-mechanical yield of a twoASDBD actuator reach a maximum value for an optimum inter-ASDBD distance,which is a useful value for the design of highly efficient multi-ASDBD actuators.

Trace analysis of mefenamic acid in human serum and pharmaceutical wastewater samples after pre-concentration with ni-Al layered double hydroxide nano-particles

In this work, the nickel-aluminum layered double hydroxide （ni-Al LDH） with nitrate interlayer anion was synthesized and used as a solid phase extraction sorbent for the selective separation and pre-concentration of mefenamic acid prior to quantification by UV detection at λmax ？ 286 nm. Extraction procedure is based on the adsorption of mefenamate anions on the ni-Al（nO3？） LDH and/or their exchange with LDH interlayer nO3？ anions. The effects of several parameters such as cations and interlayer anions type in LDH structure, pH, sample flow rate, elution conditions, amount of nano-sorbent and co-existing ions on the extraction were investigated and optimized. Under the optimum conditions, the calibration graph was linear within the range of 2-1000 mg/L with a correlation coefficient of 0.9995. The limit of detection and relative standard deviation were 0.6 mg/L and 0.84% （30 mg/L, n ？ 6）, respectively. The presented method was successfully applied to determine of mefenamic acid in human serum and pharmaceutical wastewater samples.

Background:nicotine administration can generate severe oxidative stress and lipid *** jelly,with its antioxidant properties,acts as a scavenger of reactive oxygen *** study describes the apitherapy effects of royal jelly on testicular damage following nicotine ***:Forty-eight male BALB/c mice were divided into 8 groups(n=6):saline,3 different doses of royal jelly(100,150,and 200 mg/kg body weight(BW)per day),nicotine(1.5 mg/kg),and 3 different groups of nic+Roy(1.5 mg/kg of nic+100,150,and 200 mg/kg BW per day of royal jelly).nicotine was administrated intraperitoneally,and royal jelly was prescribed orally for 10 consecutive *** levels of hormones(testosterone,luteinizing hormone,and follicle-stimulating hormone),total antioxidant capacity,nitric oxide(nO)status,malondialdehyde levels,sperm DnA fragmentation,sperm parameters,histopathological changes(H&E staining),immunohistochemistry against apoptotic proteins,and gene expression of Bcl-2,p53,Caspase-3,and nrf2(real-time PCR)were assessed to evaluate the molecular and histological ***:Hormone levels,sperm parameters,and status of antioxidants were decreased significantly(png nicotine ***,royal jelly treatment normalized hormonal and antioxidant characteristics,decreased apoptotic gene expression,increased nfr2 gene expression,and restored histopathological alteration to the physiological status significantly(pnclusion:Royal jelly upregulates the antioxidant status,inhibits the mitochondrialdependent apoptosis pathway,and increases the rate of *** therapeutic agent effectively protected the testis against nicotine-associated damages by antioxidant and anti-apoptotic effects.

Efficient mid-infrared single-photon detection using superconducting nbTin nanowires with high time resolution in a Gifford-McMahon cryocooler

Shortly after their inception, superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors(SnSPDs) became the leading quantum light detection technology. With the capability of detecting single-photons with near-unity efficiency,high time resolution, low dark count rate, and fast recovery time, SnSPDs outperform conventional single-photon detection techniques. However, detecting lower energy single photons(ncy and low timing jitter has remained a challenge. To achieve unity internal efficiency at mid-infrared wavelengths, previous works used amorphous superconducting materials with low energy gaps at the expense of reduced time resolution(close to a nanosecond), and by operating them in complex milli Kelvin(mK) dilution refrigerators. In this work,we provide an alternative approach with SnSPDs fabricated from 5 to 9.5 nm thick nbTin superconducting films and devices operated in conventional Gifford-McMahon cryocoolers. By optimizing the superconducting film deposition process, film thickness, and nanowire design, our fiber-coupled devices achieved >70% system detection efficiency(SDE) at 2 μm and sub-15 ps timing jitter. Furthermore, detectors from the same batch demonstrated unity internal detection efficiency at 3 μm and 80% internal efficiency at 4 μm, paving the road for an efficient mid-infrared single-photon detection technology with unparalleled time resolution and without mK cooling requirements. We also systematically studied the dark count rates(DCRs) of our detectors coupled to different types of mid-infrared optical fibers and blackbody radiation filters. This offers insight into the trade-off between bandwidth and DCRs for mid-infrared SnSPDs. To conclude, this paper significantly extends the working wavelength range for SnSPDs made from polycrystalline nbTin to 1.5–4 μm, and we expect quantum optics experiments and applications in the mid-infrared range to benefit from this far-reaching technology.

Coherent-Synchronized Oxidation of 4-Ethylpyridine and Piperidine by Hydrogen Peroxide

The regions of the selective oxidation of the the production of 4-vinylpyridine, 4-vinylpyridine coherent-synchronized mechanism is suggested for 4-ethylpyridine and piperidine. The HO^＊2 radical plays 4-ethylpyridine and piperidine have been found, and the optimal conditions for n-monoxide and pyridine have been determined. The most probable hydrogen peroxide decomposition and the free-radical chain oxidation of the key role in this mechanism.
